Micheal Jackson: No Official Statement From Obama; Why?

There is a question seeking million answer. WHY DIDN'T OBAMA ISSUE AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF MICHEAL? For those who pay attention to US presidential politics, you’d know that issuing official statements when a high profile individual passes on is commonplace (although the Obama White House has only issued an informal condolence).Can somebody just tell me d rationale behind such decision!

@topic,

BREAKING NEWS: Obama's Official Response to MJ's Family.  Source: http://www.arodan-usa.com

Obama says Michael Jackson's death could b suspicious  He has ordered the police to be on the look out for a smooth criminal, he could be black or white but he's definitely bad & dangerous. The Police claimed they got fingerprints off the wall and that there was a man in the mirror so he's got to be there. The Police will like 2 talk 2 ben and billy jean and have implored them 2 come forward voluntarily because they don't wanna be startlin somthing. Obama reiterated that as for the Police, they don't stop till they get enough evidence even though they found blood on the dance floor. They know this is a tough case, but are assured that with Obama's support, they will beat it. Needless to say, says Obama, MJ's death is a real thriller .

First off, were you trying to type thread instead you wrote thrend, just checking

There you go, exhibiting a typical behavior of someone who lacks common understanding. I must congratulate you for your successful learning of the word f**k up, and you are gradually using it, so good job. I won't bother wasting my breath on you, neither would I argue with because you just lack the knowledge, so it certainly isn’t worth it. Yes I gave MJ his due respect and this has nothing to do with neither his wealth nor his debt, so get over it and get it together.

Nigerians= just noise

MJ had a lot of assets, so shut the f*uck up. okay?

it's a normal thing 4 rich kid to owe debt. okay

LEAVE MJ ALONE PLS.

he was alive, he had no peace, now he is dead, give him his due RESPECT.

what a waste of bandwidth.

You wanna know why? He is still sulking after learning that our very own Yaradua beat him to it by issuing prompt condolence to the Jackson family on behalf of the great Federal republic of Nigeria.

I mean yeah, from his opinions to his decisions, you can obviously tell. I mean while he doesn't have a biased opinion, he does things to please his congressional fathers or stay on the down low.

We not saying his broke, the question is that he owes more than $400 million in debt. The last I checked when your liabilities is greater than your assets, then you are in big trouble. MJ lived off his royalties to sustain his living. The only truth will surface when the claims court begin hearing debtors cases, then the court will access his estate and know what his value is worth against what he owes.

People don’t be fool by the media, Michael Jackson is not broke.

This is a man that is paying $100.000 a month on a rental property where he died.

He owns the Beatle’s catalogue

In 2007 Jackson and Sony bought Famous Music LLC from Viacom. This deal gave him the rights to songs by Eminem, Shakira and Beck amongst others

One other thing again, we all know the Black Community headed by Rev. Jesse Jackson, if this issue was really a big problem, they sure hell would have gone public with this one. Rev. Jesse Jackson would have publicly condemned Obama that one I'm certain of or perhaps, we are yet to hear him condemn Obama, but I believe that Obama sought counsel from all sides (pros and cons) and decided on the best option to stay on the down low.

Must he issue any official statement cos of MJ's death?? However John king (cnn) reprted this morning that Obama has written a private letter to jacksons family.

Damn!! i dont know why some people think this way anyway

Issuing an official statement doesn't make him a fool, but the aftermath of that press statement is what matters

MJ was not only an icon, but he changed lives and I agree, however, it was Pres. Obama's decision not to go public. As for done or undone, nothing can be done about it. My point is that I believe he should have issued a official statement based on the circumstance that surrounded his appointment as president (the black community). I would understand why Obama stayed down low because I can imagine the amount of attack he would have from his critics. My view is versatile. Also, I needn't tell you Pres. Obama concern himself more often with Home/Foreign policy and National Security.

He doesn't have to, period. As much as MJ was an icon, this would not be an issue where Pres. Obama will go publicly because of public interest. There has been several issues that Obama clearly stated he would not go public because it neither affected our foreign policy nor our national security, rather he does it more on the down low. So everyone needs to deal with it, bottom line is that he sent his condolence to the family.

Nigerians have never been intelligent and almsot every post in this thrend confirms it.

PRESIDENT OBAMA has sent his letter to the jackson family. okay?

MICHEAL JACKSON -king of pop and ELVIS PRESLY king of rock n roll are the only ones that got access to the white house, to get an award from the president.

because of their positive effect on the youth and the donation of their proceeds to fight drunk driving and drug abuse respectively in America.

MICHEAL JACKOSN INFLUENCED MY INFLUENCES.

Obviously, a lot of folks on here knows little or nothing about America. Sure, Obama is not obligated to say anything about Michael Jackson but the standard practice and norms dictates. Official presidential speech was issued when John Lennon died, when Elvis died, when James Brown died (he was a know woman beater, a convicted felon and he spent time in jail.) regardless of their flaws. America Ignored Obama's past cocaine sniffing flaws and sent him to the white house right?

It's not about obligation, it's about standard practice and tradition. Obama is ignoring MJ's and past traditions for obvious political reasons and he really shouldn't be doing that. Just like the rest of the world, white and black America is grieving MJ's death. He just need to open his mouth and say something, white people are not going to kill him.

Yeah . . . it's his obligation . . .

Not only because the voice of a generation passed away, but also because half the country's mourning. . . while the other half's talking bout how he should get off the tabloids.

The nation's obsessed with him . . . and he's their President

And yep, he did send in his tribute and best wishes to the family

@babapupa, u get am. Even if Obama has personal beef with Mj, standard practice dictates that he/his office be SEEN to pay respect to someone who means so much to his people and to the world. Why should he do so at all covering his mouth?

He might make a general statement regarding MJ's accomplishments on the day of the final burial, but do not expect any official statement until the result of the autopsy comes out. That is what a leader does when the cause of death of a world wide super star is unclear.

Obama thinks he is being politically sharp by witholding official statement until issues bout MJ's personal life are cleared up. However, d only message he's succeeded in passing across is that he(Obama) is a political chicken. Dis kind of spineless b'viour will cost him.

Micheal Jackson: No Official Statement From Obama; Why?

@topic: Because Obama is not a fool. He likes to fully understand what is going on before making any comment.

But i thought i read somewhere on yahoo news where Obama through Robert Gibbs reacted to the death in the following words of his Chief Press secretary "He(Obama) said to me that obviously Michael Jackson was a spectacular performer, a music icon. I think everybody remembers hearing his songs, watching him moonwalk on television during Motown's 25th anniversary.

"But the president also said, you know, look, he had, aspects of his life were sad and tragic. (The president's) condolences went out to the Jackson family and to fans that mourned his loss" Though this comment came after when Gibbs was asked about it by the press, but i think its official enough anyway.

On a side note, the guy (Obama) may be thinking that Michael helped fasted the downward spiral of the financial system that he is trying to clear up though. lol

@Poster,

He is not under any obligation to issue an official statement.He has offered his personal condolence and that is enough.

Don't let M.J's death overwhelm you to the point of spilling rubbish.

RICHIE BOI

Its because she was not a global icon like Michael Jackson. She was made popular because of a tv series (Charlies Angels) and that famous poster of hers and that's it. Sorry to say this, but MJ's star power was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay much bigger than Farrah Fawcett.
