Do You Use A Mouse With Your Laptop?

to me not using a mouse with your laptop is (to borrow from Chike and the River) the equivalent of living near the River Niger yet washing your hand with spittle. OR having a new and old phone with PC Suite synch capabilities yet manually retyping/entering/transferring your contacts across phones. the touchpad/trackpad cannot just compare to the mouse when you have serious work to do and you need to deliver fast. The mouse takes you right there, swiftly  up and down while the touchpad can be painful on the fingers. there are some jobs that for efficiency sake you just have to do with a mouse. Eg: Video editing. while for other jobs you simply achieve more within less time if you use your mouse. Eg: working on data presentation with MS Excel.

anyway what's your opinion?

UPDATE: for those of you questioning why this made the front page just want to add that i decided to put this up cos I've come across so many people (who more or less just use their laptop to play solitaire, songs, facebook, watch films and type the occasional MS word document) dissing the mouse. apparently they feel the mouse is so old school and religiously using the touch pad shows you're in tune with technology.

just wanted to prove them wrong.

P/S: of course when on the go/move the touchpad can be excused, but for everything else, there's Mastercard, get a mouse.

Just because you started using a laptop recently and are not used to it perhaps its not convenient for you doesn't make those who have been using for more than just a while not serious with it. You use animations that require speed, so I don't use animations, I use other software so that means that its nothing serious right? Better yet, we all have to use animations before its our work is defined as serious right? Besides if you understand what a (lap-top) is you would know its designed for convenience and portability.

those who use the mouse pad apparently don't have anything serious to do with their pc, most of the animations i do require speed and precision and the mouse pad doesn't gimme that.

Using the mouse, especially pretty often, can cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It's better to use a mouse pad specially designed for the protection of the hands. Not a flat mouse pad but where the hands can rest and fit snugly. I think it's called ergonomics.

Interesting to know that there are a lot of people out there who use the mouse with their laptops. On desktop, it is understandable but on laptop, interesting.

Quick question. How do you use the mouse when on the go?

I prefer using the mouse with my laptop, there is more accuracy with the mouse and it is more comfortable to work long hours online.

The mouse pad is what I've always used and will continue to use. Serious work or not, I still use it. I use excel to an extent and some other properteiry software, and I like my pad no problems ever. I've used it so much that the left click bar is down a bit but I feel comfortable with it regardless.

I use the touch pad 99%. I like doing all my work on ONE BOARD - it's faster. Sometimes, hands ache but I can't also do without the "scroll down/up" segment on the touch pad.

Yeah! I think the mouse makes a lot of sense co's whenever you're online for some couple of hours, your fingers seems to be tired and feeling wet which makes the touchpad sucks, so you see why you sometimes need your mouse

I don't see the reason why this cannot make front page.

I use mouse cause it is faster and hmmm much more convenient if you ask me.
