How Would You Feel, If You Are An Illiterate?

Sometimes i wonder what it would have been, if i did not know how to read or write. But many people today are illiterate have u ask urself how these people feel living in a civilized world and lacking behind greatly. Ask urself if u are an illiterate how will u feel? Think and let us know ur mind, God Bless Nigeria

I would have enrole into adult education, illiteracy is a killer disease. that is why boko haram are communiting sucide. they even declare war against western education. if you study them well, many of them have the opportunity to go to school, but their brain could not carry it, it is unfortunate!

In the whole Nigeria it is only in the north east, and north west, that the cost of education is cheap, but many of them are not mentally ready to learn. one of my fulanni friend told me that, "they was a time the govt empowered law enforcement agency to catch any one roaming on the street during school hour to school. give this opportunity to the south west, south south and their middle birth counterpart and they will ever remain greatful 2 you. can you imaging this kind of mindset? they want to study arabic and work in the bank, industries/ company. oh! the formal minister of education. she is professor of ISLAMIC STUDIES. who knows whether is this kind employment that kill our power sector & NITEL?

well it depend on what u term illiteracy cos at one point you are ignorant of one civilization or another, and may lack knowledge of some sort if a given time and direction

imagine a professor going to the illiterate baba lawo for spiritual help

or the an engineering student going to meet a road side mechanic to help with practical assignments

or an english teacher talking to the Oba, IGwe or Emir through local translator (interpreter)

you think you are civilized then tell me what will the angels do.

in life just pray that you are lucky or blessed, education has nothing to do with life suitability; civilized or not

i ve seen a farmer building mansion that some prof can't dream of in their widest day dreaming.

such is life, just do your best and pray for the Good Lord to bless your effort, simple

We are not saying illiteracy is a sin but sometime being an illiterate, one will be deprive of some important things in life, eg their right. That does not mean that the educated once are in any way better off. Remember literate or illiteracy does not guarantee wealth, knownlege or visa to heaven. It is just important but not necessary

there is no current law in the US that bars people from voting in regards to literacy. 130 years ago there was but it has long since been repealed.

Many nigerians don't know what illiteracy means. They think the fact that they got some certificate from a university makes them literate.

Literacy is not an acheivement, rather it's a state of the mind.

Illiterate? Hmmm. . . I know some people do suffer from being dislecsic (or how do you spell that.?) Im a victime myself when it comes to numbers and I hate it, Seriously its like throughout my years of studying and being force to study some numbers in education, I feel hopeless and Im the only one whom always had to stay back after school just to get that in my thick skull and even after that, I still dont have a damn clue.

So yeah, I felt useless and hopeless

Seriously if you think illiterates feel cheated then you have to think again,

in fact on the contrary the feel superior. they think its you who got cheated by wasting your time reading all the nonsense you did.

As an illiterate, you are so narrow minded there is no space to think. just act

I wouldn't feel bad, in as much as it is not my own making, then i'll live with it.

I'd rather be a modest 'illiterate'.

If I dont know how to read or write, I may feel a little bad but If I have skills that people can value and that can earn me great respect in the society, then I will not not bother. For instance if I can play football like Okocha or sing song like Michael Jackson and I dont have university degree, then there is no cause to feel disturbed.

If I was illiterate I will be free of certain burden and restrictions that literacy brings like wearing condoms. A fool's paradise is paradise nontheless.

Well, cheated is hardly

the way to feel

But let me say this;

it's not uncommmon to be

literate in some areas

and be non-literate in others.

As observed by other posters,

what definition of illitracy was

on the mind on the author of

this thread?

As an individual, when I discover

i need more learning in a field

of knowledge, I go for it or

surround myself with those

knowledgeable in that field

to accomplish whatever mission

is before me.

That's the attitude.

But you should be happy at least you got your education at the end of the day.

But you should be happy at least you got your education at the end of the day.

Then, those that went into early childbirth what did they achieve? All we get from it is almajiris.

We need to stop this early childbirth and polygamous too, in 2006 our population was 140,000,000 and just in a course of two and half years we net 157,000,000. We had 17,000,000 increases just within two and half years and our nominal GDP still stays the same. That is a harbinger of a bad omen. We are the most religious country indeed, a country where our religious clerics stays on sex 24/7 and everything is straight canine styles.

Illiterate probably means someone who can't read or write.

The fact you can't read or write in English, doesn't make you illiterate.

(There are yoruba and Igbo reading or speaking only literates) Too many illiterates on the Hausa side so I no fit vouch for them,

let's ask ourselves, is literacy ability to read and write or having western education? we are missing up many things in this country until we understand that literacy is the thing of the mind not the number of books you buy or your frontier, then we will appreciate that we can achieve what we want through what we have.

I would have feel great.Nowadays we disturb ourselves with a lot of material things that brought about by this so called "litracy" which is synonimous with civilization.God should have created me in a remote village where there is no civilization, where all my livings will be gotten from the forest.Where there will not be any need to be clamouring for material things,(because even if i have them where will i wear them to). I would have been married by now with a lot of kids that will be helping me out in my farm instead of this my so-called "unfinished schooling".How i wish!!!Even with you being a professor within a second u'll just pass away and alas! that's the end.People should know that we only come to this world once if you dont live it,where will you ever have the chance to.Ever since when i was born i never live my life.I was dying to enter university after university education,i was dying to start working. When i finally got a job i dying to settle down. Then i was dying to train my kids before i could realise i have retire from my job and about to enter my grave.I wish God could reverse my case.

UP CHELSEA TILL DEATH
