No B.sc - No P.hd How True?

Am an HND holder and I heard that without B.Sc you can't go for a Ph.D even after your PGD and Masters Degree.

How true is this please?

With your HND today you can very well do a PGD, Msc and PhD. Do not let anyone discourage you that you cannot do a PhD.

@Hnd-holder

pls say something about this topic. HND-holder started from HND and now he has a PhD you can ask him.

With your HND you have the option of going further to get academic Degrees upto PhD level, or look for professional qualifications like MBA, MPA etc.

But i still advice you to get a Bsc. But if already you have HND there is no wahala you can still make it to PhD Level.

Try UK universities, they will give you admission. Some of them require a minimum of 120 credit units, and you with HND even have more than 160.

It's a lie, like most people said, if you have an Msc that everyone has before obtaining their PhD, why shouldn't you be able to get your PhD ?

Get your Msc from a reputable school with good grades/ CGPA and no one will deny you for trying to obtain a doctoral degree.

It may be difficult in the US; but European schools could admit a HND holder into a Masters' programme; form there, you could then go do a Phd. the opportunities are ther, don't let anyone get you discouraged by misinformation.

It's not true. you can even become a professor sef. One of my lecturers and project supervisor in the polytechnic then had ND, HND, PGD, MSc and now PhD in Statistics. His name is Mallam Hussaini Dikko (He prefers to be called Mallam); ND - Katsina poly, HND - Kaduna poly, PGD - Uni Ibadan, Msc - Uni Ibadan. He's in Mathematics Department ABU, Zaria. Any Mathematics or Engineering student of ABU between 1999 and now should know him. He was a Lecturer in the polytechnic before he got an appointment to lecture Statistics and Experimental design in ABU and was equally given admission to do his PhD.

pally do not be discourage you can even become a professor sef.

That is not true. I know someone with an HND (Nig) MSc (Europe), on scholarship; and PhD (Europe-ongoing) also on scholarship. He did not even follow a PGD programme before the MSc. It all depends on your HND grade and cognate work experience.
