Do Actors Really Cry In Movies?

I always wonder  how actors and actresses make themselves cry almost instantly during a sad scene. Are the tears real, or do they secretly

put something in their eyes to make it red and watery?

Well, some of the actors are add so much passion to their movie roles, so I think some shed real tears.

Some actors apply something on their eyes that makes tears roll down to make it seem that they're crying but they are not.

It all depends on the actors and how much passion they put in their roles.

Slap my palm with $1,000.00 and ask me for a 30-minute demo? You'll be shocked.

No matter how you look at it crying for a movie is not real. Just look it is acting and real are two opposite words. It like a paradox saying that crying in films is very REAL is very good acting. If its real then why do they need to act it? Its like saying "The actor that acts superman can really fly, its really good acting" whatever you act can never be real. Its like faking it. When you really cry you won't be in the mood for anything, Much less acting. Its your real emotions. If you bring up the wrong emotions you might mess up your words. Thats why they practice and practice until they are able to control and its just water down their eyes. So crying in films is not real its just acting.

Why this question? They are actors for crying out loud! So they can act out any emotional feeling including crying.

when acting there is need to put emotion in it. you pretend its your real life you are living and if it needs crying you just find yourself crying

@ poster,

some cry some dont. some tha t can cry cry the others are artificial. there are these eyedrops they put in which mak eyou cry. its probably pepperish or sumthing. like the kind they used for americas next top model when nenna was there. proably sometimes even if you can cry the director or producer might think the tears are not enough and decide artifical ones.

also when you act with passion you put yourself in the role of the character that so you can already feel emotional while acting like its happening 4 reel.

some actors may request something which make them cry just before the scene.

i don't believe they really cry cos if they do they will really cry their heads off at the end of the day, lets say if Genny will feature in twenty movies in a year she will probably need a sick bed in a hospital for surgery of the head and eyes. abeg them dey rub onion for their eyes biko.

some pple have the "gift" of being emotional as actors. i've watched some nigerian movies though that i couldn't be convinced that they were crying. it is either they spoil their mouths to look as though they were crying or something close to that. it's actually pathetic to watch that at times it comes naturally for some of them though. saw Jim iyke cry once in a movie and i was like this guy has got to be an emotional . good acting if u'll asking

some do cry.

i worked once with Mercy Johnson in a movie and, damn! that girl can turn on the water works as easy as ABC.

i asked her how she does that and she just laughed and said its a gift.

she later taught me how to do that. its all about unlocking your emotions

Yes they do bring tears down their faces for the scene to seems real. . . . . . . . and of you beleive not we should all ask Seun to organise a crying competition for the Nigerian Actors: I bet you the winner'll be Muyiwa Ademola.

Not all of them put fake stuff in their eyes to cry. Some are professionals and they know how to put themselves into the character and cry as if its really happening to them. So can just make their eyes watery and some need to put in special effects. So crying in movies can never be real cause movies are not real they are just acting. Thats my opinion.

No!! Actors don't cry. They just eat plenty of onions before the scene, sometimes they just put pepper in their eye. You should try is somtime. You'll be amazed how emotional you can get with plenty of pepper in your eye.
