@nuzo

why people 're making u write so much is that u just want to end someone's career with a wave of the hand.

First, we were told she committed a sin, then they said she dressed poorly, then they said she drove off with another guy while her oga- ejike, or whatever his name is wanted a piece of her Bottom too, now u de convince us say she just broke the AGN guide line. More surprising is that proponents of this ban want us to believe and trust their judgement(she is bad and deserves her punishement).

Well, what ever happened to being innocent until proven guilty? Or is Ini Edo guilty until proven innocent? She definitely wouldn't get justice from people like Ejike and his friends in the AGN who already bear a grudge against her- even Steve Wonder could see that.

Once again, that is why we need due process to be followed. Nothing should be hidden, the accused must be given every opportunity to defend herself, and judgement must be consistent with offense, and documented for the future.

If folks are in already involved in case case, it is only fair to tell this forum, no need to spread your bias.

Personally, I never heard off, dealt with, or even knew anybody who know some one who knows-----, --- the lady. Seen her picture first time on this forum. However, my interest is on the principle, not the personality, is that the case with everyone?

For example, brother nuzo, if u be Ejike Asiegbu or his agent it is ok to say so, and we would work with u. By the last time I checked Ejike was not listed as one of angels, or even a saint.

@luvhenry,

Listen to yourself.

Even the dumbest human being would not think of punishing her that way if it was all about sex. Nevertheless Ejike Asiegbu doesn't  solely make decisions for AGN.

On the other hand, Ejike is not a saint, but you should try to find out Ejike's kind of person in recent years, especially from the time of his acsension to office.

So guys, stop being sentimental!!!

@ naijaking,

you make youself crazy because you are being so sentimental about this issue.

After explaining why she was banned you still feel its all about sex; well thats your own biz.

Who told you she was not given time to come and defend herself. Well its Naija where one person will one day wake up and think he/she is bigger than an organization or the country as the case maybe.

As regards to you mentioning lawyers, accountants, doctors etc being punished for an unproffesssional practices in the court, i want to remind you that these professionals have organization guiding their activities. Their trial and banning are done by the association behind closed doors. They dont like showing off bad eggs in their organization. Sometimes they may not even tell you what the person did.( for the reputation of the organization)

Lawyers - Nigerian Bar Association( NBA). eg Egbo Egbo in Ngige and Ubas' Anambra.

Accountants - ICAN

Doctors - Nigeria Medical Association.

Actors - Actor giuld of Nigeria(AGN) HOLLYWOOD

@SEUN

With these you will understand that AGN may not be paying her salary, but she had an agreement with them to obey certain rules as long as she wants to remain an actor in Nigeria. Or do you want her to open " actors guild of INI EDO" where she will make her own rules and regulations.

I woder why you guys are making me write so much on this simple issue.

Don't know if na de ban or the lack of understanding by people like @superman, nuzo, etc de make me crazy for this topic. Anyway, that's why it is a forum.

Let's say u work as accountant, lawyer, doctor, whatever, and u come to work one day only to find that the association of accountants, lawyers, or doctors has banned u b/c a dispute with your employer.

Employer says for example that u abandoned your job as a doctor in the middle of patient care. Evidence seemed plausible that u did. Before everything is finalized, u would want an opportunity to either confess to the violation or defend your self.

This is called due process. If folks'r not Hot, if sex and a beautiful girl were not involved, most rational people would want due process in all circumstances.  Why not now?

The people in question are not her employers, so why should they be able to ban her? Labor unions are evil.

People: make this thing simple. did she receive due process or not? She deserved to state her defense, no matter what--- that makes a civilized society. period.

Many posters here seem to be very sentimental. Some said they liked the ban because she has been appearing in most movies, some hated the ban because she is pretty, while some said she has to work because she has to earn a living.

Someone was comparing Paris Hilton's jail term with Ini Edo's 1 year ban; these are two diferent things.

P.Hilton had a problem with the local authority for drunk driving not with holliwood, while Ini Edo was banned by the organization she is in, for abandoning her work for an "unreasonable moves".

In Holywood, when an actor abandones his or her work, especially when on set; the producer can sue him to court which might cost the actor so much depending on the understanding between the two. All these processes are in the rule and regulation guiding holliwood. So why is Ini Edo's ban so different? when she could have suffered more if the producer decided to go to court straight.

Shame on the people that said the AGN(nolliwood) was uncivilzed. I think the uncivilized one was the person who abandoned her duty post for a dude in a flashy car.(that wasn't the reason some hollywood actors abandon roles on set; in most cases its breach of contract by the director or producer)

So, point of correction: Ini Edo was not banned for sleeping with 71 million Nigerian men(married and single), she was not banned for dressing like a slut. She was banned for abandoning her duty post: a signed agreement between her, AGN and the producer.

She is a good actor though, but inorder to maintain peace and order in an organization, one has to pay for missteps.

@donan, what agreement? spell it out for all.

Guys every organization has its do's and donts, maybe ini edo has crossed one of the borders she is not meant to cross that is why she is banned. And based on the that sunnews report nothing has been said about what she did. They just said "misconduct".

NaijaKing

Who told you that what she did is not against the agreement she signed b4 joining NollyWood.

@naijaking1,tell them, although talking sometimes is like pouring water on a stone, you can.t change people that are not ready to change, change comes from within, you got to understand it for you to go for it.Imagine FELA spending a lifetime taking, nobody seems to listen, now FEMI is there the same thing is happening. The only person they want to listen to is the one that is lying to them like chris okotie, keep making them feel sinful as if they killed Jesus, sin and morality is relative,it is man made and it's subject to adjustment.Your sins are forgiven, forgive yourself.

0

@superman, or whatever. u miss the point like ur other bros. 1st of all we don't know exactly what her sins were (another injustice), but whatever her sins, she was judged arbitrarily, unfairly, and by a biased jury of her competitors. Unlike Paris Hilton, Ini's sins were covered in a hush hush tone, so that her fans would be unable to decide for themselves. Some people say she drove off with a dude in a big car while at work, others say she exposed her nyas, some say she was drunk or drugged, still others insist that she refused to Bleep the big oga. In an open society, there would be no question of her sins.

Your comparison with the Man-u player is quite lame, b/c like Barry Bonds here in US, drug enhancing performance is not only a crime, it's a health risk and generally disapproved by all. Despite serious suspicion, these players had to be implicated directly and not just by heresay. Imagine ur sister, wife, or whatever's career being destroyed by subterreanean allegation of sinful acts, and getting banned or suspended from their means of putting garri on the table. Once again, if she committed a crime, prosecute her and give a chance to defend herself, then ban her as you like. No witch hunting, naija is almost worse than Bostonian witch-hunts of the 1400s.

NONESENSE

ONE WAS BANNED IN THE COURSE OF HER MOVIE ROLE

THE OTHER ONE WAS BANNED OUTSIDE HER CAREER VIA DRINK DRIVING WITH THE LOCAL AUTHOURITY

SO ME AS ALWAYS THINK EMM THESE NIGERIANS JUST CANNT SEE THE DIFFERENCE

YES PROSECUTOR U RIGHT!

few years ago Rio ferdinal  (man-U) was banned for two years or something for dockin some drug test with some useless excuse

so me as aka Superman blazed up in nigerian flavour once again ask what is wrong with my nigerians

we no want second colonization do we?

Another good example: Paris Hilton has just been sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating her parole. She committed a crime, and after due trial in a court of law, she recieved her sentence. Remember sha, she was never "BANNED" from her popular TV show or acting in Hollywood. In fact, her shows are expected to gain higher ratings from her jail sentence. She will be paid off big in d future.

Comapre and contrast that to Ini Edo-- or whatever she is called, and the Naija situation. Ini was never tried, yet some pretentious, price-fixing, and sex-starved men; like @puker gathered together and imposed a punishment according to their own myopic understanding. It's only in Naija! Everybody who cares for principle should be rattled by this nonsense.

pucker and co. So u be director, eh. No wander things de get from bad to worse. Na 'cos of people like you. I would not call you names, ok! Let's just stick to the principles: so she committed some "sins", she has a bad work habit, she is not committed to the success of your film, etc, etc. Even if she did all these in one day, she still doesn't need to be banned. She needs to be fired and future employers need to know her work history. You'll be surprised what role she might land just for being "sinful, nasty", or whatever you call it. As a director u should know that. Mr. Spielberg, or whatever u think ur, do u know the difference b/w bad behaviour, crime, and sin? If u do, then u would not be substituting sin with bad behaviour. Sin belongs to the religious realm, and only God can judge who has sinned, and not some Hot naija film director who is probably jealous of the poor girl's Bottom in the first place. Crime belongs to the governmental realm, as only government can convict one of a crime. So a little education never hurts, even if u think u already know. So for poor pucker and all those intellectually challenged bros out there, think with ur brain, not ur joystick, no emotions, but reasons. Stick with film directing, don't go playing God.

naijaking or whats ya name your blind outburst is an exposure of your bad mangerial skills. May be you blindly wrote that thrash without knowing her sin. It is also exposes how ignorant you are with regard to film production. An actress that was piad should do her best to make her movies a success. And that includes obeying the rules. It realy hurts as a director poeple come to act their scenes and change your schedule. NO! Talking about reading my freind the only thing i dont read is tissue papers. So always know the fact of evey matter before leaking.

Red_lips the name 'Dam' and 'bum' is well deserved because if she was not she would not have abandoned her business after been paid. The result of her ban was just what i earlier explained. The director of the film she was to participate in anger raised a serious petition against her and the measure wasn't erratic because her conduct was bad. Chikina!

It seems the person who first posted this thread was already baised by asking if she should have been good as a SAINT?what is the meaning of that? Now i will cotribute to this topic in two ways  1.professionally,   2.Morally

1.professionally

Did she commit a crime against her profession?Yes she left her job unattended to

Was she given prior warnings?yes alot of petitions had been written against her by her co artistes, producers, directors.

Every job has its own rules and regulations and her  guild it is more appropriate to punish her than marketers.

should it have been a ban?personally i feel she should have been sanctioned

Professionally, she deserved to be punished for her gross misbehaviour.

2.MORALLY.

A.  Alot of these actors sincerly think that america is the standards for african celebrity life.No it is not this is Africa and there must be standards.

B.  The reason the american society is the way it is today is partly because they have nuisance role models.

C.  Although you might argue that the Indians are a bit harsh but atleast they take their culture seriously and protect their  sanity without allowing public wayward displays.

D. Now what are the standards?Nobody needs to know what you do with your personal life but the minute you start to throw cautions to the wind and rub it in people's faces then you have crossed the line.

pls lets be fact, nollywood is an organization with its own rules and regulation, whenever an actor or actres disobey the rules he/she will be penalize, if banning her is her own punishment let her go and pay her price, nobody have the right to question the nollywood official for anything, pls lets try to be honest here, she is a very pretty girl and has a bright future but she should not ruled her life with indecent dressing, many don't understand that what they wear behind the screen, should not be use outside,at least,as an actres dress decent and look responsible donut give people room to think evil the way you dress pls

Talking about role models, gross misconduct, indiscipline and outright violation. The film industry should get the log out of their backsides. They should talk - who bans or discplines them about the trash they produce. Do the films have to be so violent and do they have to promote money rituals. What are they teaching the youths? That is is ok to be that violent or to ritualise money making. Abeg! Don't get me started. It is just a question of kettle call pot black.

Ino edo is a very good actress and my guess is that they are jealous. The year ban will not stop her, I hope she goes far in her career. Maybe Holllywood, Who knows?

She might have done something wrong, if she does, then she needed the banning.

0

If I do something bad in one place of work, I will get sanctioned. But I can go to work at another place of work. If Ini Edo did something bad to one producer, he can sue or 'sanction' her, but he shouldn't be able to "ban" her.

0
Avatar
Newbie

Let's not be sentimental about this. If that info is anything to go by, then she must have done something wrong. More so talking about not banning pple from their means of livelihood. When u do something bad in your place of work, u get sanctioned. So we all suffer the same thing. Hers' is not different. We shld rather occupy ourselves with "What has she done?" "Is it enough to sanction her?" I think that's a better approach.

Re: Rita, I was being sarcastic, Seun.

All this ban nonsense is ridiculous. A country where 90% of the movies is about money rituals is now boasting of morality.

Also, she was banned by her colleagues, the people who have the most to gain from this ban!

Clarification: Rita Dominic does not deserve a banning for dressing well. No one deserves a banning for that.

How weird, Brad Pitt cheated on his wife but got a nomination for an ward for Babel instead of a ban

I suggest you people grow up and mind your business

and if anyone deserves a banning for dressing, it's Rita Dominic

I think we are getting some thing wrong here

Ini Edo was not banned for f, g around!

Ini Edo was banned for what AGN termed gross misconduct, indiscipline and outright violation of professional duties.

http://nm.onlinenigeria.com/templates/?a=9847&z=3

Just as a doctor, an accountant, a lawyer or any other professional can be banned for any professional miscounduct, an actress or whatever she called herself can be banned?

Being a drug peddler is a crime. Having sex with a married man is not a crime.

Hope you can see the difference? If a celebrity commits a crime, the celebrity should be punished by law.

BUT Ini Edo did not commit any crime! Ini Edo did not peddle drugs or anything! See the difference?

Some people are offended because I don't believe in God. Others are offended because I think blacks should stop whining about racism. Others will be offended if I confess to premarital sex. If they are unhappy with what I am doing, they have the right to stop visiting the forum. They can boycott the forum, but they can't shut it down. See?

Seun is right, you are wrong

Do you see anyone in other film industries in the world getting banned due to personal problems? Give me a break.

0
Avatar
Newbie

Seun, you get it wrong!

There is nothing like professional role model.

You know what?

You are a role model in your little way because of this your contribution to the society.

Imaging what will hapeen 2mr if somebody hears Seun is a drug peddler!

You will disappoint a lot of people.

That is exactly what we are saying

0
Avatar
Newbie

spora, your post fails. Ini Edo is not a professional 'role model'. "Role model" is not her job.

She is an actress and she must be allowed to act, because she has been doing well as an actress

If you don't like her, you can boycott her movies, but you have no right to ban her because others aren't bothered.

0
Avatar

I think when we contribute, in this forum, it should be done using the Rotary four-way test 'cos that is why we have a forum like this. Surprisingly, Seun himself has not done justice to the issue at hand.

Of the things we think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?

2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

Now, who is a Role model?

Role model refers to a person who fills his or her role as a good or bad example for others. A good example is a positive role model. A bad example is a negative role model. The term role model on its own is usually taken to mean a positive role model.

A positive role model carries out a role demonstrating values, ways of thinking and acting, which are considered good in that role. Others hopefully will follow the example. A woman professor can be seen as a role model for other women, on the strength of her furthering of the profile of women in academia. Alternatively, she could be seen as a role model for aspiring academics, regardless of their gender, on the strength of her academic achievements and/or dedication to her chosen discipline.

Parents can be positive role models helping their children learn adult ways or they can be negative role models.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role_model

In Nigeria as a developing country, artists are suppose to be a positive role model because they are  who our children see on movie day-in day-out and most of them would aspire to be like them.

But the reverse has been the case in Nigeria. Those who show us the side effect of promiscuity, drug peddling and use, notoriety, broken home, love of money and other negative vices are the main cuprits.

An average star actress in Nigeria is hardly settle down, most of them have broken homes, single mothers. You find them jumping from one man to the other. Doing those things that are contrary to our custom all in the name of being "STARS"

The most annoying ones are the so called gospel musicians. The people we should sit down and tell them about gospel are ironically the same people that are telling us. Impregnating the church choirs with their welu welu style.

So if Ini is banned, it is because she is not Ini again but a public figure who should be responsible and show a good example to the generations to come. We should know that to every profession, there are dos and donts and if you run foul of any, you must be ready to face the music.

Pucker and the pro-ban group are blindly confused. So she left her job and drove off with a dude in a big car-eh! Good. Fire her from that job! Why speak of morales as if someone made you the keeper/judge/police/priest of Naija institute of morales. You just don't know how similar you sound with the Taliban or other Sharia law enforcers when you begin to advocate punishment for someone for not following your own version or interpratation of societal norms. values and morales. Yu've gotta wake up, or read a good book in sociology or anthropology.

and dressing the way she is doing is very bad. Inshort the banning

Even in offices you get suspended for violating one rule or the other so

why not in the movie industry? I really like her but if Nkem owah can be banned

who is Ini Edo?
