Gay and Lesbian Couples Can Now Marry in the UK. Blessing or Curse?

I know this topic might have been discussed in the past but i cant help but bring it back today. this is because from today, gay or lesbian couples in the UK can have a civil ceremony and become man and wife (oh sorry) husband and husband or man and man or WIFE AND WIFE. OR MR AND MR. OR MRS AND MRS.... am confused............

when i told one of my geeees about this, he hallowed and said 'see kpali' that means instead of waiting for a girl to become available for arrengee, 'na to just find another guy, talk man to man, do arrangee and kpali don show be that' i laughed out loud and said Naijaaaaaaaa.

i am a bit worried bout this trend the Uk has bucked because am afriad bout what will happen to the family institution. Is civilization as we know it being re-written? what happens to the dual family role of procreation and socialisation if future generation of those living in the UK decide to go gay? what happens to the family as we know it today? i dont begrudge two people of the same sex who wants to f**k each other from doing so, but getting married, i think is taking it a bit far. i dont want to bring religion into this discussion but as a sociologist am realy worried that the role of the family as we know it is being tampered with and society will be worst for it.

what happens if this trend is wholly copied byu governments in africa and the developing world? I dont know what u think out there but this is taking it a bit far.

I need intelligent and well researched response to this issue and not just a blab about religion etc. lets discuss how this latest trend affectb the family as we know it today

Some have argued that there are some benefit one can derive from this new legislation as it affects people residing in the UK and i think i agree. Anyway, if u live in the UK and want to find out how u can benefit from this system, write me a personal email and i will let u know

ok please explaine t me what your neighbors marriage has anything to do with you? 1,000 years ago you couldnt marry outside your religion.  500 years ago you couldnt marry outside your social status (bakers married bakers, farmers married farmers). 200 years ago you couldnt marry outside your nationalitys (french could only marry frensh, germans could only marry germans).  100 years ago you couldnt marry outside your age group.  50 years ago you couldnt marry outside your race.  now you can only marry the oposite gender.  what will be the prohibition in 100 years? 300 years?  does it really matter?  are they hurting you?  is thier action goin to send you to hell?  no!!!!!! so who the f&ck cares

The problem with most same sex partners is also affecting some people on this tread. I wonder why people will say there isn't anything bad with same sex intercourse but will also say they don't like them getting married. In the first place why did God give humans the gift of sexual intercourse? Did he arrange it for people of the same sex? Ok, somebody said he doesn't want anything religious -that ok. Now why have animals without any sense of reverence for God not started practicing it?

The problem with humans is that they are absolutely confused and needs help so they just exploit all avenues and see if they can derive any satisfaction in life. I really feel for such people.

Additionally though, I strongly believe that a time will also come when humans will also wed animals in churches. The world is really heading for oblivion.

This is more than a serious matter.

It's called civil partnership rather than marriage. (but essentially it's the same thing). It gives them some legal rights similar to married couples regarding property/next of kins/etc. These people are gay anyway, so why not let them create permanent committed relationships?

I find it strange that people might accept gay people 'bleeping' but not want to see them making a serious commitment to each other. Is ok to be gay in a casual-sex way but you mustn't be a decent respectable person in a normal loving relationship? Weird.

Anyway, it has no effect on 'the family' or how many people will or will not be gay in future. What, you think someone is going to read in the paper 'Gay marriage' and think 'Ooh that sounds like fun, I'm going to turn gay so that I can have a gay marriage'.

And don't forget that every gay person was made by both a man and a woman - so it's not that easy to influence someone into being straight, is it! So why think they can influence anyone into being gay?

just because homosexual people may marry each other does not mean that eventually everyone will be homosexual.

In any case, women can have children without males - there are sperm banks for that.

A woman w/o eggs can still have children - there are egg donors for that.

I don't see how we would not be able to have children even IF the entire world were to become homosexual.

Amen Afeni!

It'a beautiful blessing from God.

Besides I'm offended by many hetero-marriages I've witnessed.
