What Are Your Thoughts On Marriage With A Big Gap In Age?

next summer if god say I'm getting married I will be 22 my fiancée 36 I love him with every breath and heart beat but my friends and some family members can't stand the age difference. They think the age difference will be an issue later on in the marriage. We love and understand each other we went the same things I don't think age difference would ever be an issue.

What are your thoughts on marriage with a big gap in age?

they say age is nothing but a number.thats not entirely true, but i 'll let you know 1 thing its your mistake to make, but it might be the best thing that will ever happen to you.dont let family or friends make a decision for you.its your life, dont you ever forget that .i'll let you in on a little secret. i'm kinda in your shoes with a girl 12 yrs my junior, and its been great .live life to the fullest. i wish u the best.

no denying the age difference is huge and in many relationships it does backfire. so thats definitely something you have to keep in mind esp since this isnt a mere relationship but a lifetime commitment thing such as marriage. had it been 9-10(or 11) it wouldnt be much of a 'big deal' as in age not the quality of the marriage for your people

but then again, only you see through this man in terms of his personality, maturity, etc if hes what you truly want in a partner, do your best to convince them afterall, at the end of the day, youre the one going to live with him

you still are very young hence your peoples reluctance, maybe if you were in your 30s and him 40s or 50s there wouldnt be more strong objections.

i have known couples with big age diff. and it hasnt be a hindrance so every case does have an individual variance to it

What if the age difference is the other way round ie if the wife is much older than the man with say 10 to 12 years age difference?

Some people age poorly, some age gracefully. It all depends on your situation. Age is also dependent on lifestyle. I he a young 36? Just really depends. I personally would not like my daughter marrying a 36, unless he had a lot to make up for it in other ways. Like being a good responsible man, with good health.

Age does not really matter, except if he is old enough to be ur papa! 14 years is not bad in my opinion!

You are old enuf to know what is best for you.

At least you are not 13 while he is over 50 like your yeye leader in Nigeria.

Once you love him, go for it . . . .  Congrats

Go for it, if you love him, thats all that matters, my huband is 16years older than me, and we have been married fo 11 years now, he tolerates my excessess and some things which a younger man would not, very loving and caring. follo your heart girl

@ sharkez i dnt think age has any role to play in marriage provided that there is the love of God amongs u and both of you share true love, not that u love him because he is already made and all that, then d marriage union will stand.

less i 4get,there is no marriage without issues but they r all solvable w maturity, fear of God and love.

In simple arithmetic, the age gap is 14.

There is nothing wrong with that, the age difference shouldn't be an hindrance, even when others are doing it for the sake of wealth, lust & fame (Genevieve & Atiku).

But looking at it in another dimension with mathematical basis, this man was 30years (old to get a wife) when you were about to write the SSSE/WAEC.

Are you saying the man waited for long just because of you?
