Why Do Girls Dress To Kill At Shoprite?

Originally: What Is It About Shoprite, That Girls Dress As If They Are Going Clubbing?

I thought it was a shopping mall, where people go to get groceries and other items. There you will find every Jane, Becky and Sandra trying to outshine each other while sending signals to guys that they are available. It is now so difficult to know who is the "shopper" and who is the "shoppee"?

Na wa for Nigerians! Shoprite is like a discount store. It is dead cheap.I read someone saying you only go to shoprite if you can afford to shop there.

I have done my research.Compared to the inconvenience and prices in our Markets and Supermarkets, Shoprite is dead cheap.Na we just day form. The same way people's accents change depending on whether they are at Tejuosho market, Silverbrid GallerIa or the Airport. It's sad.

Na poverty day worry us.

LMAO!! i haven't heard anyone say they only eat pizza and milkshake!! but it is f@*kn funny! i have heard i don't eat garri, from guys!!! trying to be extra witty to attract girls, its more annoying than intriguing.

everyone forms/ pretends. in simple terms
[li]a "faker" speaks phonee (i can't even spell the word lol) when the meet some1 for the first time[/li]

[li]a "normal person" enunciates his/her words[/li]

[li]and the 3rd and weirdest category the "i am a down to earth gal/guy" speaks pidgin or the local language (and i am not talking abt people who can't speak english properly, i am talking abt those banker type boys - sorry oh banker boys, could think of a better word- who stroll up to you in jeans and start speaking pigdin in this strange accent like they arent used to speaking pidgin)

[/li]
@nixter hope you are ok.

I was looking to see if Nu Metro Cinemas in Palms has folded when i found this thread, some comments were amusing, some were annoying and some were down right ignorant!!!! The amusing thing is the most of ignorant people all live out of Nigeria and they want to tell Nigerian how to behave and dress, why? perhaps because they feel they have seen the "real deal" oyinbo land and we should try and be more like them.

For starters black people are generally more into efizee than oyinbo (they are just getting into it) so why blame them if they want be half bloody Unclad?!?

Like some1 said, you dont see ppl in heels at Tesco. If you did see one you would assume she is going to a party afterwards. if it is in Palms, she is either looking for man or she has no self confidence or some other rot, i could go on forever!

now to that cow who said that he saw oyinbo with an under-educated black girl: simply put, you can't see past your nose. If you saw a black girl with oyinbo in the UK or US or wherever, you wouldn't assume that she is under-educated would you? You know what? it was probably me you saw. Find my mouth, please!!!!!

Nutshell: a lot Naija men love to call naija women sluts, cheap, yada yada yada, becoz they toast the babe and she no gree or she over gadge and liver no gree am toast so they say she is looking for man LMAO

naija women (like all women/girls) like to dress up, and from what i have seen, it is the teenagers that do the over dress thing. just goy back from malta, una think say una don see Unclad, come see naw!!!! the Unclad pass allen avenue girls ohhhhh and once more they were teenagers.

the proper ashawos (am sorry to say, but you know what i mean, real ones, not buy me gifts) i have no patience or time to discuss, they are just lazy, i prefer to hear say the girl dey do 419 than say she do for money.

LMFAO, rather long nutshell isn't it.

Oh btw any of my people for naija is nu metro palms still showing movies? last time i was there, they were "re-shuffling"

I totally concur with what the poster said. And believe me, its crazy. While it is not advisable to go there shabbily dressed( cos Shoprite has become a Mecca of sorts for Lagosians and you just never know who you might bump into), that is not an excuse to go there in your "Sunday best" or worse still scantily clad.

There might be the rare exception but, more often than not, most of these flesh baring girls are "ladies of easy virtue" looking to ply their trade. You know what i mean- anywhere that has a lot of expatriates is their target market, and Shoprite, ditto The Palms, fits the bill.

So, when next you see one of these "dressed-to-kill" girls, look a little closer,

@server33,

You are making a damn good point, we all have the right to dress and say whatever we like, thats why i love denrele's interview, he doesn't care what you think about him, he is just himself

I am sure you guys wont laugh when you see a white american do the same in shoprite, you'll see her as the only person there not faking.

I wonder when you will learn that you are free to do what you like, even go to the beach in stilettos, if you dont like it, then go kill yasef.

Why dont you start a thread of someone dressing to kill at mamaput joints or do you think it is right?

why not talk about ppl dressing to kill at bend down boutiques

You started this thread because you feel there is something special about shoprite, and to many of us, you just go in and get what you want.

I basically see it as a good option when i need to get something i want to be sure is not fake and nothing special, anyone can setup a mall like that if you have your money.

hush! bush ppl with small brains

what do u think? na just say them dey look for person to pay their bill, so they try to get attention. It's ok to look good and all, mos def, but if it's just from ur crib to the mall n back, WTF! Our pplz should chillz, huh?

Smooth what can of talk is that? Look man, mind your language as I take great exception to that!!!

Anyway, Silverbird Galleria is way way worse than Shoprite and filled with teenagers! You sometimes wonder if their annual mission statement is to visit there 365 days a year - morning, noon and nite!!!

i dont see this thread intends to prove

Even in London, girls dress up when they go to the mall. I used to live in North West London, and every weekend Brent-Cross was filled with teen girls looking fresh to death and all suited and booted and blinged up. Some people at the mall are actually there enroute to some other places. Also if u took a girl to go and see a movie, with plans to go to have dinner for example, would u want her to show up in bathroom slippers and old school jeans.

Nigeria is NOT America or England.

i went to a mall in Houston which is meant to the biggest mall.(i cant remember the name now). It had a massive skating rink on the ground floor, and everyone looked geared up. People actually make sure they look smart when going there.

Unfortunately, the economic situation in Nigeria makes shopping in the mall beyond the reach of many ordinary Nigerians. But that doesnt mean that those that are relatively well-off should turn up their noses at others.

Ki ni big deal?

I can do anything anytime I feel like, go to the club any day I feel like. I like the kind life wey I dey live now.

Any1 can dress anyhow (s)he pleases. U wanna shop? then do wat u gotta do, leave, n stop judging whether or not sum1 else is dressing to Kill.

Everyone has the right to dress how they want to no matter where they're going to. BTW, Nigeria is a developing country (d8), so, the mall thing is quite new

Thanks for the correction! Quite an observer huh? Well, it's so sad for you that the title still remains "SHOPRITE". I do not think anyone will take note of you, save me. Have some fun and quit being too serious, Life is too short. Bon chance et au revoir!

0

Mostly corrections realy. And just for that feeble attempt at mockery u receive a another dose of correction,

1. Its make conversation not 'make conversations', conversation is already plural

2. And again its not shoprite but the palms,

And so ends ur class Magentam. You're welcome.

@ Olutoye

Are you here to make conversations or corrections? We all know the shoprite we are talking about, So stick to the topic. We are not in class but in Nairaland to chat and have fun. Tu comprends?

0
Avatar

personally

i always like 2 feel gud bout my self doesnt mean i'm doing it 4 sum next guy

so i feel that you should dress however way you feel comfortable

0
Avatar
Newbie

If you're comfortable in your skin, you wont notice what anyone else is wearing. You may rock your flip flop with no make up and still make guys like me salivate. Quit commenting on others dressing unless you feel so threatened.

0
Avatar

because girls too na commodities & goods they expire with time and the name of the place na shoprite, its left for you to conclude.

0
Avatar
Newbie

Again pls, all you pple should get your information right. Silverbird galleria is different from silverbird cinema. The cinema is located at the top floor in the galleria. There are over 20 stores, businesses, bars and chill out joints in the galleria. Many people go to the galleria other than to watch movies. I cant even remember the last time i watched a movie there, but it does have nice places to hang out there.

wel it is good 4 them to dress to kill cos chics full every where it has to be a survival of the fit

and that will go well 4 the guys

0
Avatar
Newbie

i think lack of self confidences is the root problem of this girls, yes when they see other girls they start to compare themselves, who amongst them

will stand out in the crowd of attractive ladies and who will get that Guy with the cash.

well if only this girls can be educated enough to know that it's not by out ward dress codes that will help them to attract Mr right but by your character and

attitude

Abegi its called the Palms shopping mall not shoprite. Shoprite is a store in the Palms. Calling the mall shoprite is like calling every mall you visit in yankee a Macy's. Get it right next time.

0
Avatar

the pictures here show girls wearing jeans.

can the OP show exactly what he/she is calling "dress to kill".

To the best of my knowledge, the real dressing to kill is on some Nigerian university campuses.

In any case, its all about color coordination. An outfit doesnt necessarily have to be too expensive, for someone to look good. They could simply have good dress sense.

And this is Lagos, for crying out loud. Clothes full everywhere for sale.
