Is Fried Cockroaches A Delicacy In Benue State?

I learnt from a friend that a certain tribe in benue state savour fried cockroaches with great relish. Its deep fried and eaten with oil. Is it true or just bollocks?

that's absolutely untrue! i served in benue, visited several regions and i've heard anything of such. the tivs eat roasted toads though.

i think what they eat is not cockroaches, they are insects, they call them shinge, they are insects that fly out of termiet anthills, they are safe for consumption, how can anybody eat cockroaches ,haba

I am from Benue. Never heard of any of the tribes eating cockroaches. Where did you get that from?

Please we should learn to tolerate other people's actions even if we do not find them appealing provided they are not breaking any laws.I actually thought this post was a joke until i saw the pictures above.Wonders will indeed never cease.

Human beings, we're very funny. Many of the animals we see as edible are the non-domesticated animals easily available around us. That's why people eat the rat in the forest but won't eat the rats that stay inside homes. No food is particularly "wrong," almost anything is edible so far it tastes good to you and it isn't poisonous.
