Every energy drink contains it. It works as a stimulator: 100mg of caffeine actuate brain work, 238mg raise heart endurance. To achieve this effect one needs to drink at least three cans of drinks, but producing companies advise to take as much as 1-2 cans per day.
One energy drink averagely contains 400-1000mg of taurine. This amino acid accumulates in muscles. It is considered to promote heart muscle performance. But in the recent year's medics have serious doubts as of taurine's influence on human body – some researches show no effect of taking taurine.

These vitamins are known to be vital for nervous system correct functioning; they strongly affect human brain work. If there is a lack of B-vitamins in a body, it can be easily diagnosed, but at the same time, excess use of B-vitamins does not really improve brain productivity, even though energy drinks producers claim it can have such effect.
- Melatonin, or chromatophorotropic hormone is responsible for human body’s day-night rhythm.

Caffeine drinks are good for workaholics and students, who need to spend a long night working, for example, to meet a deadline, or to prepare for an exam next morning. Vitamins and carbohydrates enriched drinks are good for those who do fitness and other physical activities.

Energizing effect of a cup of coffee lasts 1-2 hours. Energy drinks give a more lasting effect – up to 4 hours. Also, most energy drinks are gassed, which makes it easier for our body to digest the drink and feel energy effect faster.
Another advantage is the package and temperature – it is easy to use anywhere: in a car when driving, in a gym, on a dance floor. It is not that easy to drink hot coffee in a gym or when dancing, don’t you think?
Negative effects of energy drinks
First of all, you have to be careful with how many energy drinks you take daily. 2 cans are known to be the maximum. Taking more can result in the high content of sugar in the blood and significantly increase blood pressure.
Till 2009 energy drinks considered medical drugs in France, Denmark, and Norway, they were sold only in drug stores and were banned from selling in product stores.
Vitamins, contained in energy drinks, cannot substitute medical multivitamins complexes.
If you have problems with blood pressure or different kinds of heart problems, you should strictly avoid energy drinks.
Also, everyone should know that drinks do not provide energy – they force your body to find this energy in its stores. In other words, a drink does not bring energy to your body; it drags energy out of your body. A human body uses its own resource, which should be later restored. If you abuse energy drinks, you suck the life out of your body. If you do not restore energy resources of your organism, it can result in fatigue, sleep deprivation, depression, and irritability.
Caffeine, as any simulator, wears body’s nervous system out. Cheering up effect lasts up to 3-5 hours, but after that body needs to have some rest to restore its resources. Also, caffeine causes addiction. But if you do not exceed recommended doses, there is known to be no risk of using energy drinks or coffee.
These drinks are strongly not recommended for children or young people, as they can negatively affect normal body growth.
Excess amounts of B-vitamins in a human body can cause rapid pulse and tremor in hands and legs.
If you are a fitness addict, you should take to consideration diuretic effects of energy drinks. So, do not use them after hard exercises, when you lose much water with sweat.
Most energy drinks have a high content of sugar, so they are not recommended for people with diabetes.
As you can see, adverse effects outnumber positive ones. But still, in some situations in our life we need to get some energy to have things done. If that is the case, just be attentive to what kind of energy drink you choose carefully read the contents and never exceed recommended quantity of 2 drinks a day.
