Like Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series? Check out the article revealing all unique features of a new Ubisoft game - Wildlands.
Just like all previous Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon tactical shooters, Wildlands is also about the future. Still, watching the trailer of the game, you can hardly guess which Ubisoft series it belongs to. The reason is that the game has a completely new look. It combines present-day ambience and a South American drug cartel (your enemy).
Some words about the plot
The main feature of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands is an open world. You have a huge choice of locations and missions, variety of storylines and lots of supporting characters you can interact with. In this game, you are a U.S. soldier, a member of an elite troop. Your character is well-equipped with the gears that look quite similar to the present-day ones, although the actions take place in a near future.
So, you are dropped somewhere in the territory of Bolivia. Your mission is to destroy a drug cartel named Santa Blanca. These guys sell huge amounts of cocaine around the world involving government of the country and military forces in their business. The USA considers this cartel a serious threat, that is why your squad receives the order to stop it.
Just like in all Tom Clancy’s games, your character’s look may surprise you with a diversity of casual wear like blue jeans, t-shirts and baseball caps. That clothing definitely fits good when you are in the middle of Bolivia terrain surrounded by virtual country inhabitants. Be sure that it won’t affect your ability to react to all situations that pop up in this large game area.
Wonderful game setting
Bolivia is a new and quite unexpected location for a new game in the series. But it is definitely a great choice. You will be mesmerized with an open-world setting diversity of the game. Your character will visit mountains covered with snow, sandy deserts, exuberant jungles, wide open spaces of salt flats, etc. Modern constructions of a huge cartel compounds and overpopulated villages will also burst upon your eye.
You will get a nice opportunity to check out the view of the country when skydiving in from the plane. As distinct from other games of the Ghost Recon series, in this game, you will definitely appreciate a huge scale of a truly open world. Ubisoft claims it the largest one they have ever built before. Rebel groups and village inhabitants, as well as various types of vehicles, will help you to become an integral part of the world.
We don’t know much about the multiplayer component yet, but the fact is that it is expected to be really fantastic. The campaign is shifted to an open world setting that is a fresh experience for Ghost Recon fans. It definitely will introduce more depth and flexibility into the gameplay.
The release date of the game is expected to be in spring 2017. It looked really sharp during its pre-alpha debut that took place last year. So, it won’t be a surprise if the release date shifts to the end of the year. Whatever it will be, thousands of fans are thrilled with the game and are looking forward to that day.
