What does a semen analysis tell? It's a test that can help your doctor figure out why you and your partner are having trouble having a baby. One of the problems can be a watery sperm of a man.
Sperm is the penile discharge released at the peak of sexual stimulation. Normally, the seminal fluid “clots” immediately after ejaculation, giving the semen a sticky consistency. It appears to be a mixture of clear fluid and white, pearly liquid. This milky substance indicates the presence of sperm cells in the semen.
There are cases when the ejaculation yields clear semen instead of the typical white seminal fluid. The problem becomes a cause of worry for most males, especially when it continues to be the case over a long period.

Implications of Clear, Watery Sperm
Can watery sperm impregnate a woman? Given the premise that the viscous component in semen is made up of sperm cells; watery semen has a much lower sperm count than the normal consistency? The fact poses a problem for married couples who are trying to get pregnant. The stickiness of semen is intended to make it stay longer within the female genital area and increase the chances of the sperm to gain contact with the fertile egg cell. A runny consistency may lessen the time for the seminal fluids to linger within the womb. However, it does not eliminate the possibility of pregnancy. After all, it only takes one sperm to fertilize an egg.
Causes of Having Clear Semen
It’s normal for those teenagers who are not in sexually mature, so boys needn’t worry about this clear semen. Occasional instances of it for male adults who normally release white semen is also considered normal. However, there are a few other causes for this clear, watery and thin semen:
Insufficient sperm count:
Often ejaculating in one sexual encounter is the most common cause. If you are quite sexually active or masturbating frequently, it will lead to watery and thin semen. In this case, your testicles can’t regenerate enough sperms in short time after the first ejaculation. It will typically take 70 days to mature sperm cells in your testicles; that’s meaning there are not enough time to produce sperm cells if you masturbate and ejaculate over five times a day. To avoid ejaculating watery semen due to lack of sperm, in this case, wait for more than 5 hours to restore the creamy sperm volume before the second time of ejaculation.
Low Sperm Count:
Also called oligospermia, which is referring to your sperm count, is below 15 million per ml of semen. Sometimes the deficiency of zinc may be the possible factor that causes your low sperm count, so if there is a concern for your watery sperm, pay close attention to your diet. In addition, protein is a good nutrient to get your semen thick; fish, chicken, meat and milk are all the rich sources of protein.
This is another reason in some case that can cause your semen to appear thin and watery. Diet and over-exercising are the two main factors that leads to this condition; the simple solution is to eat more fruit and vegetables to get enough fructose for your body.
This is a condition which can interfere with male infertility; in this case, your semen will be little or even nothing after your ejaculation. However, most men with this condition don’t require any treatment. But while leading to infertility, your doctor will treat it by drugs like imipramine or pseudoephedrine.
How to Increase Semen Production
Increasing the volume of your ejaculations results in bigger, more intense orgasms, increased fertility and more visual appeal with a strong spurt of lots and lots of sperm.
Here are a few tips as below:
Ejaculate less frequently
Avoid alcohol and any non-prescribed drugs
Exercise more often
Avoid tight fitting underwear since this can cause less semen due to the increased temperature of your scrotum
Evaluate your diet
Supplements like zinc, vitamin C, E and Folic acid that contain ingredients for sperm creation.
