Are you familiar with the fear of missing out? Can you say no to unnecessary tasks? Are you agree to every task you take?
What is FOMO? It explains perfectly simple. Are you afraid missing out the party even if you are filled with work? Do you feel that miss some important news in the music industry? Like the album of a new singer? Do you feel uncomfortable when people are discussing a new way of making money, and you have nothing to say because you have no idea? Here comes the FOMO, or as it translates from abbreviation – fear of missing out. One of the first persons that described the FOMO phenomenon was Lucy Jo Palladino. Her book “Find Your Focus Zone” is pretty filled with examples of FOMO situations.
Let`s divide the FOMO into elements. The most precious part here is “fear”. It comes from the idea that something would happen if we do not respond immediately to the action. The “of” is a preposition to the cause of the main word fear. And the phrase “missing out” clearly explains our concerns. Everything goes smoothly with fears, but you can`t illuminate them immediately. Therefore, you are prone to say “yes” to every party, every work task and every music as you do not desire to miss out. Without knowing everything, you might feel insecure and irritating.

Stress and procrastination
Imagine that you say “yes” to every task and party. Therefore, can you provide time for all of the tasks in your schedule? You informed your sister that you would come to the wedding, at the same time, you promised your boss to finish the annual report on the weekend. You have a critical situation to let down both people. You understand that. Therefore, you suffer and start the procrastination process. You just do not start any of those deeds. As a consequence, you are letting down not only your closed once but also your work, and yourself.
When you have a fear of missing out, you are more prone to losing money. The new movie launches in movie tethers? You have neither time nor spare money to watch it, but you still go with friends to watch it? You friend has got involved into the internet marketing pyramid and promises you the fame, money, and girls within one night? Your girlfriend wants to go to the concert of a new rock star? If you are willingly giving all your money (remember, your last money!) for these things just not to lose something new, then you have a FOMO symptom.
Too much on a plate
The inability to say “no” means getting too many troubles on your head. Be rational, you are just a human being; you can`t cope with all things at once. The fear of missing out destroys your ability to think rationally. Therefore, you can easily take a lot of responsibilities and task and will not have an opportunity to finish them all. As a consequence, you let down yourself; you feel miserable, anxious and overwhelmed with tasks. Therefore, the only way you see out of this mess is procrastination. Nevertheless, you do not feel relaxed after procrastination. You feel guilt and despair, as you did not complete all your tasks and time for their completion is wasted. It wallops you, and you surrender to depression.

Therefore, cross out several items from non-important things. These items are seductive; they would need you to return to them.
