Africa is a huge continent with a number of countries and cultures. Despite of it, its parts differ from each other in many ways. Let us compare the Northern Africa and the Eastern Africa and how the differ from each other.

Northern part of Africa includes such countries as Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan and Tunisia.
At the same time Eastern Africa includes much more countries. They are Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Mozambique, Malawi and others.
 As you can see, the countries of the North Africa are more developed and more populated.

Speaking of geography, the North Africa possesses the Atlas Mountains. It extends across much of Morocco’s territory, northern Algeria and Tunisia. Also, they are part of the fold mountain system that also runs through much of Southern Europe. However, 75% of the Northern region is overlaid by Sahara. A wide variety of valuable crops is being grown there including. They are cereals, rice and cotton, and woods such as cedar and cork.
The geography of East Africa is stunning. Global plate tectonic forces have created the East African Rift. East Africa is the site of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya, the two tallest peaks in Africa. It also includes the world's second largest freshwater lake: Lake Victoria. And the world's second deepest lake Lake Tanganyika.
Its unique geography and apparent suitability for farming made East Africa a target for European exploration, exploitation and colonialization in the 19th century.

Culture

The people of the Maghreb and the Sahara regions speak Berber languages and several varieties of Arabic and follow Islam. Berbers have been influenced by contact with other cultures: Greeks, Phoenicians, Egyptians, Romans, Vandals, Arabs, Europeans and sub-Saharan Africans.
The culture of the Eastern region is marvelous. Because of the influence of European cultures a great variety of cultures and languages has appeared. There is a number of spoken languages. Bantu languages like Kikuyu, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Runyakitara and Luganda, European languages such as English, Portuguese, French. And that is not the full list.
So, making a conclusion at this point, we can surely say that the North Africa is mostly populated by Muslims, when the East Africa has more Christian countries.

Both Eastern and Northern Africa are the part of one of the greatest regions on the Earth. The history of both of them includes wars. However, the Eastern Africa has had more wars than the Northern. Endless wars in some of the countries even affirm that this region had had more wars than any other part of Africa.
