A healthy person falls asleep in 14 minutes. The doctors advise paying attention to their condition of health to those who need it more than half of hour. It may tell about serious problems. Often it is the first sign of cardiovascular diseases.

Our brain still works every night. Our organism doesn't stop all its functions during nightdreaming. In fact, a night is a time when the brain is operating even more hard than during a day. It analyzes and gathers all the information it gets when we are awake.

That's why the doctors recommend pupils and students to have more rest before exams. And by the way information, we got the last before sleep will be remembered better. The researchers suggest that the rapid movements of eyes during first minutes of the sleep are related to memorizing.

We are paralyzed while sleeping. The brain turns off all move reflexes while body's sleeping. In this way, it reinsures that we won't repeat the moves we see in our dreams. And even some light movements, especially of eyes, are possible in a REM sleep. Sleep talking is also inherent to this phase.

A REM (rapid eye movement) stage is a sleep cycle during which we see the dreams. We spend about 90 minutes in REM and for this time our heart rate is quicker, and the temperature of the body may rise. The brain is the most active in REM phase. Adults spend only 20% of their sleep in this cycle when children have 50% of it.

We are restored at non-REM phase. At this phase our blood circulates slower, a body temperature drops. This type is very useful for the organism. It's hard to wake someone up at this stage of dreaming as it's the deepest sleep cycle. When we're aging our deep cycle becomes lighter and it's easier to wake us up. Most of the aged people sleep less and sensitively than younger do.

15-20 minutes are enough for a day sleeping. It's a perfect time to take a little rest, but not to go into the deep phase when waking up becomes a challenge. Even a fifteen minutes lying with closed eyes is a good break in a stressful day.

To get healthy entire night rest, we have to sleep 4.5, 6 or 7.5 hours. They say, 8 hours of sleep is necessary each night. But in fact, this number is rounded. The sleep cycle finishes and starts every 1.5 hours, so the best way to get up vigorous is awakening between two cycles. But don't forget to add extra 15 minutes to your alarm clock which are necessary for falling asleep.

Sleepwalkers have a particular gene in their DNA. Sleepwalking is a result of non-REM phase disorder. It happens when the one is coming out from the period of deep sleeping. The children are more affected by somnambulism because they have faster and more chaotic transitions between REM and non-REM cycles.

Only 2% of people in the world suffer from sleepwalking. Lately, the scientists found a specific gene in DNA of all sleepwalkers, what confirms a theory that this is a genetic disease in cases when it's not a sign of epilepsy.

We remember only the tenth part of our dream. In the first five minutes of our awakening, we can call to our minds a half of the last dream. Frequently it's not the only one dream we've had this night, maybe, even not the brightest one. But in fifteen minutes we can call to our memory only 10% of it.

During sleep our organism produces the hormones that are responsible for appetite. So if it doesn’t have to produce them, the stomach may send the wrong signals to the brain asking feeding in enormous doses and in not purposed time. 

A syndrome of Sleeping Beauty is the rarest sleep disorder in the world. Only one thousand of people suffer from this weird disease and a charming prince can't help them. It usually affects the teenagers in their period of pubescence.

For example, American 14 years old Louisa Ball sleeps for weeks without any awakening! Firstly, the medics regarded at her condition as at coma, but brain activity was too high as for it. All the attempts to wake her up just fail as the girl continues to sleep even with open eyes. After normal waking up she doesn't feel this flow of time.

The doctors still can't find a suitable method to hill Sleeping Beauty syndrome, but it usually takes the teenagers from eight to twelve years to get it over by themselves.
