Presently Nigeria is a nation with over 170 million of population and 36 states. However, in the first half of the 20th century Nigeria was under the colonization rule of UK. This territory was inhabited by various tribes and called by the colonists: the territory of the Royal Niger Company. In 1960 on October 1 Nigeria was proclaimed a free country with its identity and independent governance.
Presently it has two capital cities – Lagos (the old capital) and Abuja (the new one). The country is still struggling to form one nation, as there are at least three major tribes with different cultures, languages and religions to reconcile that live in it.
