The very first legitimate president of Nigeria was Nnamdi Azikiwe, who took this position in 1963 and held it until 1966. He was born in 1904 and lived a long and fulfilling life passing away in 1996! Before he got elected to be the first president, for three years he occupied the post of Governor-General.
