How Can The War On Piracy Be Fought?

hello my good people. i walked into a bookstore in Aba and found a book i'd been looking for -- THE DA VINCI CODE by Dan Brown but i couldn't buy it because it was pirated, so badly pirated Dan Brown would opt for a change of profession if he saw it, and it sells for N500! i was mad at the store owner and nearly wanted to call the police when i realized that, it being in Nigeria, i could be digging my own gave. saddened, i bought Grisham's THE RUNAWAY JURY and left.

this had me sparing a thought on the evil piracy could do to an author. i started thinking of the ways to fight this monster and decided that, amongst others, people should be paid to report sellers of pirated books. piracy is an evil that may linger and develop if we allow it, hence i would like us to suggest ways by which piracy could be fought.

In addition they should make it a priority to have constant power supply and good road. People always said they can take care of themselves if there are such infrastructure.

Directly fighting crime can never solve the problem, we have had a lot of programs in this country that gear towards empowering the people

Such as Poverty alleviation by last government.

I don't think those  programs yield result, because if it had, we shouldn't have had poor man in the country by now.

If you chase on one area they will go to the other, without above suggestion, Fighting crime with gun and programs is like thinking like ancient Pegans who thought they could prevent earthquake by sacrificing  a goat, the problem with this thinking is that not only it produces anxiety, nobody ever come along to tell them they have sacrifice enough.

We need to think beyond surface, you can't use short time solution to solve long time program.

There are other things that should be done first before attacking pirates and piracy (not that piracy isnt a big issue).

The federal government have all the means to stop this ie pay the police force well and regular inspections at bookstores.
