Can You Steal From A Spouse?

My aunt's friend had a very rich husband in Nigeria and I remember vividly how she tells us that she constantly steal money from him to boost the family's financial budget since he's very stingy when it comes to giving his non working spouse money but will be quick to splash big money on his numerous mistresses. That story got me thinking that she may be ignorant of what is hers and what is not since she thinks she's stealing from him. He refused to give her the safe combination but she got it somehow(does it matter how she got it?).

Question: Can you really steal from your spouse since it's community property under marital laws?

Was she right in what she was doing? Did her actions qualify as stealing since you can't steal from yourself?.

If he has mistresses and is cheating on her - she should take as much as she can get her hands on, over and over and over again. Because she is no longer in a marriage. She is in a co-op occupied by herself, her husband and others - those others could possibly replace her one day so she should take whatever she can take and take it with a smile.

If he isn't cheating on her and is fulfilling the marriage covenant and is faithful to her and the marriage - she should be ashamed of herself.

If what your hubby gives you for monthly expenditure isn't enough, GO GET A JOB. There is a name for ladies who sit around expecting men to give them money because they sleep with them.

Stealing: To take the property of another without right or permission. So yep, she is stealing. Can she not draw up a household budget and discuss the shortfall with her husband?

I think that some of the topics we discuss are analysed from a perspective of an outsider looking into a variant model and trying to force/mold the model into conformity within the analytic rules.

If its true that joint account ownership cannot apply, then how can it be possible that this case can be defended on the basis of joint ownership? It is hereby determined that husband and the wife do not share ownership in each other's resource. Any action in which one or the other un-authoritatively accesses and takes posession of the other party's belonging, under the law of NairaLand, this action constitutes stealing.

Given the aforegoing reviews, the Honorable Judge Negro hereby rules that the defendant is guilty on five counts, 1 . theft, 2. aggravated pilfering, 3. grandiose stealing, 4. break and entry with the intention to steal, 5. grand larceny with intention to disposess.

The court shall reconvene to pass sentence. The judge need to take a palmy break. Court is hereby adjourned.

the men are not complaining IF the partner either m/f contributed to it  in the first place

most women are not complaining because the stupendously rich ones like ophrah are single and even if they r going to get married will be to someone richer,or with a pre nup (see brit spears she had a pre nup) the worst rich women will do is to have a toy boy and he s not gettn any part of that benjamins,

Why should they be against it when they benefit from it 99% of the times?

Why do some of you men have problem with the "half is mine" law? Look at it very well, is the half not reallys hers? Women are not complaining about the law and they are not against giving out their own half in case of divorce. If most women are not complaining, why are most men complaining? Can't y'all share?

pls dont jump to conclusions without knowing whats going on inside that particular family

what if the man worked for his money before he married the woman?

saying someone is stingy is relative,a wife might call the husband stingy because he s not shelling out for jewelries and shopping every week, the guy didnt get to be rich by spending lavishly.

you didnt say she lived in a face me i face you which would be suffering

you didnt say she drives a jalopy or old volkswagen which would be suffering

we dont know but,do you know what the guy went through before making his money?dyu even know if he used a part of his body or the lenght of his life or something drastic to make money?yet you want him to spend lavishly because its the wives right, funny thing is that even recent news here are calling for a debate if it is right for a partner or wife to claim half or substansial part of the estate if he/she didnt play any part in acumulating it case in point

paul macartney and heather mills, the man had made his money before she was born, yet just because of one daughter and just a couple of years marriage the gold digger was asking for half

In a marriage how would you define joint resources?  What constitutes joint resources?  I think that is the delineation on how this action should be classified.

Redhot, your case is missing clarity.  Do they have a joint account?

No one should even go into a marriage with the idea of him/her changing. . if he/she cannot change while you're in the dating stage, no changing will occur in the marriage

If you know he's the type to still say No if you ask him, why did you even marry him in the first place

It's not that hard to spot a stingy person. Wetin a couple of weeks it's easy to know. Yet you marry him and feel your way fo getting back is by hounding his pocket. Embarrassing.

Um why are you lying? Many women would have a problem with their husbands taking money from their purses. Even you sef said a few pages back that such a man isnt a "gentleman"

Girls that like being treated like prized goats should NEVER complain when they are abused or treated like second class citizens after all the guy BOUGHT you and you continue to expect him to do the same.
