What Is It With Nigerian Women?

Okay, I am American born, of Nigerian parents, Kano to be precise. Spent a great deal of my life here in the states, but my fam being the freaking northerners they are decided they wanted me to get a "feel" of home, so I spent quite some time back home. Now, 2 degrees and a GREAT job later, I am at a point where I should start thinking bout starting my own family. Thing is, lately, I have found myself loving my country and culture more than ever,  I care more about whats going on, the people, state of the union, economy and all that good stuff, along with it is my newfound love for African women, especially Nigerian. My family is really laid back and could care less if I choose a martian for a wife, and personally, I would love to end up with someone that was brought up with some serious culture, but the problem I have been facing is that Nigerian women just seem to have issues. They front too much, a great majority of em are VERY materialistic, act very immature, cant take a compliment, love dissing guys who have honest intentions. So, naturally, I figured maybe I just dont have a handle on how they function, so I decided to talk to other Nigerians here in NY that I know, and guess what,  About 60-70 percent of the dudes I have spoken to all have the same response, "I dont mess with Nigerian girls". Like for real, no one's saying settle, or lower your standards, but come the Bleep on. There are 6 Billion people on earth, and 4 Billion of em are women, that means there are lots of choices out there. It hurts cos at first, I just thought it was a few, but this is a very common trend among you ladies. A few weeks ago, a friend invited me to a Nigerian party, and seeing that I aint never been to one, I was psyched and ready to dance the night away, but when i got there, I was seriously dissapointed. The ladies to one side, and the guys on another, some wont dance unless you buy them and thier friends drinks, and some just wont dance because they dont know you,  WHAT THE Bleep?  the way I see it, if yall keep up this act, in 10-20 years from now, there will literally be no one available to spend your life with cos us men just dont have the time for all this drama. Anyway's I figured trying to woo one of yall is like sitting with a radio ona hill waiting to catch an alien frequency, so like most of the nigerians I know, I have gone searching elsewhere.

@poster,

I'll advise you to find a Nigerian girl who was born and raised here. The big issue is that the Nigerian girls who immigrated here and are from poor families in Nigeria usually act different from the ajebutter Naija chicks who immigrated here. The girls who were raised from poor families were usually unexposed and are already living the American dream just by getting a visa to come to America. End result, these girls lack the social skills to interact with someone like you who, even though was raised in America, is a guy from Nigerian parentage. The Ajebutter girls were already living the highlife in Nigeria and many came here merely to attend school, not as a means of fleeing from the purported poverty in Nigeria.

Another thing is that a lot of these girls may have been raised in the village or under limited exposure and never attended parties or social events like the ones in America, so, in their minds, dancing with a stranger is a taboo. Trust me, some of these Naija girls will not dance with you unless they've known you, or their friend introduces you to them, which is plain senseless because you could possess all the characteristics that which they seek in a man. Nevertheless, they have been culturally programmed to shy away from men who are strangers, regardless of whether they are attracted to the man or not. They will date a buffoon who was introduced to them by their friends rather than take their chance on a stranger who could potentially be the man of their dreams. I know it sounds illogical, but, trust me, it is village mentality.  A way to circumvent this huddle is to offer to "take care" of her or bring her out of poverty. In other words, offer to spend money on her.

Go find Naija chicks from affluent backgrounds or the ones who were born here because, even though they are still not as initially friendly to strangers like American girls, they are more easier to deal with than these village girls who were fortunate to get an American visa.

@ topic,

not all nigerian girls are that materialistic. many girls don't expect expensive gifts from guys they date. there are guys who have money to pour on girls and want to do that, they are the ones who should go for the materialistic girls.

if you mean materialistic as in the girl wants a guy who is 'made' that's a different issue. though some girls take it too far, no girl wants to marry a pauper, maybe date but not marry. i doubt that a guy would want to marry a pauper either.

Yeah they do actually come to think of it. I had a very good friend in elementary school who was sierra leonean and they spoke french throughout. His family lived in the Sierra Leonean consulate in VI and all they did there was speak french. LOL, I never heard any english. Infact they have French names a lot.

yeah well the guys I know are not really promiscuous. The Africans I know all have girlfriends and usually dont have the bad behaviors typically suggested on NL. Infact I would have agreed my view is subjective if not that I have a brother who goes to a LAC and all the Africans/AA in his school are really gentle men. Seems your experience is really different. Could I ask what state this is?

i'm talking about african and american people IN AMERICA. because i'm sure the OP wasn't talking about nigerian girls in nigeria. he's talking abt here in the US

african guys IN AMERICA are far more sexual than their american counterparts and that's a fact!!! everybody knows that n there is no argument in that. lol

and yes their girls are open too. maybe the op was comparing them to the naija girls he met which is why i said naija girls are brought up differently.

I maybe wrong but I think my friend Oyinda misused the word conservatism.

America, but the guys in the UK are the same. Infact, American/European males seek intimacy far more than Nigerian men could even imagine and have far more se.x.u.a.l partners in their life time. The only difference is that their women are really open to having intimacy.

^haha, everyday i hear of how they are going to "nail some biatches." Maybe that is conservative

^ The guys are conservative ke? for where?

0
Avatar

just like with americans. the girls are more promiscuous than the guys who are a bit more conservative (maybe why a lot of them date asian girls).

i guess the way kids are brought up. definitely got to do with culture, society etc

0

to be honest, i think it is how nigerian parents raise their kids. i think they are too strict esp with the girls and lax with the guys. but then again if they weren't most will end up like AA girls, pregnant at 16. because to tell u the truth, the guys are extremely promiscuous so i guess it's a way to balance it out.

but naija parents should raise their kids up a bit differently though

If you look hard enough you'll find you a Nigerian girl here in the States and even on NL that's not materialistic and has a brain. Take Chiogo up

there the girl is nice, good looking, never materialistic, smart, into sports and can cook. What more can you look for in a girl.
