Is 4G faster than Wi-Fi

Read this article in order to find out if 4G really is faster than WiFi and which is more convenient!

No one would ever ask this kind of question about three years ago but technology develops really fast. We all knew about both WiFi and 4G but is 4G better than WiFi?

4g

Now, with the appearance of 4G + we can openly talk about the stereotypes that are crumbling before our eyes. We tend to use the usual Wi-Fi because we’re used to it.

Many years of experience make us reject the possibility of making a comparison. But on practice it’s very different. So is it not a real problem?

Not at all. Technical progress must be used; you don’t have to live in an "old-fashioned way." So let's try to find the truth without extra emotions and bouts of nostalgia.

Stereotype is obviously a strong thing. And the manufacturers of smartphones and tablets still insist that a cellular network should be used only if something urgent happens.

The priority is always given to Wi-Fi. It is stitched in the default settings of all that we buy. However, the default settings are not that important. You economize, but it costs you a lot of time.

Don’t be confused

The specialists may laugh, but for 90% of Internet users think that Wi-Fi and Internet itself are synonyms. The Internet literally means WiFi for them.

4g

They consider it as a “real internet”. But Wi-Fi is nothing more than just the delivery vehicle to the user of Internet. However, the most convenient and the most popular mean of delivery was just a cable connected to it.

But Wi-Fi itself is not an «Internet». In simple words it is a "bridge" between the device connected to the Internet and the user’s tablet, smartphone or computer.

Like any intermediate link, Wi-Fi inevitably degrades the original source by adding the latency, increasing response time and reducing the speed of Internet access.

Another thing is that the cable is the most important thing in the connection. In fact, it influences the reputation of the networks. A lot has changed within a few years, but the myth about the Wi-Fi as a synonym for a "real Internet" is still out there.

Comparing Wi-Fi and 4G is technically incorrect. But it’s possible to do it in easy words so that the consumer is aware of what he deals with.

4G is faster than my Wi-Fi?

The actual speed of 4G networks (LTE) rarely falls below 10 Mb / s.  The average velocity in the LTE is about 20 Mbit / s.

There’s no statistics on the average speed in LTE Advanced because it is still a new technology. But, based on the maximum data (more than 270 Mbit / s) you can be sure it’s not going to be less than 50-70 Mbit / s.

In the non-public places the speed of Wi-Fi is usually 3 Mbit / s. It is considered a very good one. 5 Mbit / s is just excellent. Public networks (cafés, exhibitions) have a speed of 1 Mbit / s.

wi fi

But it doesn’t even mean you always have this kind of speed. Look at the screen and wait for page to upload. Sometimes it takes forever.

But why do we do that?! Why do you make yourself wait? It’s absurd!  You have a fast and responsive 4G on your SIM-card. Remember that it’s the manufacturer of your phone decided that WiFi was better.

Internet anywhere, anytime

The popular word "stability" fully applies to 4G. Usually it works very well. And if it gets into the so-called "dead zone" your smartphone or tablet will switch to 3G / 2G.

It will restore itself later with the appearance of the LTE signal. Just set up the 4G as a default. Also, the smartphone switches to 3G / 2G on a voice call.

As for the hotspot Wi-Fi, you can only count on high-quality Internet via Wi-Fi only in the office and at home. The public networks usually work very badly.

By the way, some small organizations are now trying the combination of a router and a modem. It is easier and cheaper. The open Wi-Fi in the parks is organized by the conventional 3G-routers.

But it is obvious that your «personal» 4G in your device will be many times better and faster.

4G is more convenient

4g or wi fi

Connecting to 4G + and 4G is not only faster, but also much more comfortable than to Wi-Fi. Many users complain about the slow response (latency) in 3G networks.

You have this annoying delay when you try to upload the pages and your character in the game can die unexpectedly. The second problem is the periodic fading for a few seconds.

The 4G is better in this case - the response time is comparable with the wired internet connection. And it’s very stable too.

The speed may be more or less depending on the load and reception conditions, but there’s nothing like in 3G. It’s absolutely a great replacement of the Wi-Fi. And especially of the open public networks.

I fi ve more like it, because other Internet may slow down a bit. A Wi fi not tupit such as the Internet. There are of course one and the other priorities, but each person chooses what he likes. Who chooses 4G someone something else. I think this article will be very useful for many people, Since the Internet is now used by so many, almost everyone, and everyone is interested in what is best, and if he made the right choice. Thanks for the article, still waiting from you interesting stories. Probably just like everyone else.

Real network speeds of 4G (LTE) rarely falls below 10 Mbps, average speed in LTE is about 20 Mbit/s. Statistics on average speeds in LTE Advanced yet, the technology is quite new. But, on the basis of the featured highs (over 270 MB/s), at a stable 50-70 Mbit/s you can count.

In non-public, open only "for the" (corporate) networks Wi-Fi speeds of about 3 Mbps is considered very good, 5 Mbit/s — great. In public networks (cafes, exhibitions) 1 Mbps — a great success. The stability of this "successfully caught" 1 Mbps — a separate issue. Watch the screen and wait for page loading – a dubious pleasure. So I think that 4G is much better than Wi-Fi!

And I think that 4G faster than wi-fi. If I use 3G Internet rocked the app from the Appstore, then 4G is by far cooler and more convenient. For public networks, this speed is a gift. Soon wi-fi and does go by the wayside. The only drawback to the use of the network will be dead zones, hitting which will disrupt the Internet. Don't understand really, as the network automatically switches to 3G if it so are dead zones. In any case, I am confident that these issues will be resolved, and soon the whole world will switch to 4G.

- Strong signal when your 3G/4G Internet will be only when the subscriber will be in the coverage area of the mobile operator. At the same time, and the Wi-Fi signal depends on the conventions – the user must be within range of the access point. Of course, within the big cities, where towers of mobile operators are located almost in every 500 meters, 3G/4G Internet will provide more freedom than the ability to access the Internet via Wi-Fi only near the house, only within the office, only in the premises of public institutions. As a rule, 3G/4G Internet available anywhere in the big cities. Another question – if at any point of the city is the quality of the Internet connection?

As you can see, to choose the best standard Internet connection here will not work objectively, both have significant drawbacks.

- In terms of speed Wi-Fi is many times greater than 3G/4G. So, Wi-Fi technology can provide maximum Internet speed to 600 Mbit/s. Again, it is the maximum speed. Minus Wi-Fi Internet is the dependence of its speed from the number of active devices connected to the access point. The more users with different devices will connect to the access point, the slower will be the speed of access to the Internet, because the speed will be evenly divided between all connected devices – be it laptop, be it the smartphone, be it tablet. Usually in normal home Wi-Fi speed Internet per user is on average 20-25 Mbps.

But the maximum speed on 3G is about 3.5 Mbps, but often this figure barely exceeds 2 Mbit/s. But if 3G/4G Internet use on a mobile device in a moving vehicle, the speed may drop to 128 kbps. Speed 3G/4G Internet is also affected by weather conditions, remoteness from the tower of the mobile operator, the number of active subscribers.
