Mtn Is The Most Useless Organisation In Nigeria?

MTN has launched new products that will ensure that its customers enjoy more call time at highly reduced costs in its market segments.

At a media launch in Lagos , the telecoms company announced the new Value Proposition Packages (VPP), which replaced the ones it launched in 2006 when the company introduced five product bundles that will cater for its customers in the various market categories.

One of the major highlights of the new packages is free weekend calls, a new development in the telecommunications environment. In the Funlink segment, a customer makes free calls through the weekend to a registered “best friend”. Both registered “best friends”would be charged only N100 each for this novel service which runs from 12:01am on Saturday to 11:59pm on Sunday. The other market segments offer discounts of up to 80 per cent on calls and services.

They all still make huge profits despite all this cos they shift all the espense to the comsumers thru high charges. They make more profit here than in some other places/countries like South Africa etc where they say has better operating environment.

I'm just wondering why an average Nigeria likes 'awuf'. Una for say make all the networks no dey charge for calls and their other services. We seem to forget easily that we are in a capitalist economy.

It seems you're affiliated to them somehow.

I didn't dump them for "Them", I dumped them for "Me".

So it not my business if they notice it or not.

does mtn charge u N100 4 xtra cool calls? wat kind of promos does nigerians expect? free everythng abi? why also complain of being xploited and still use their lines, nigerians never learn. same way we elect bad leaders and still complain, mtn is sharp unlike our dumb exploiting indigenous coys like glo and hitv.

then lets make the money remain in Nigeria, here is a call for patronage of home made services like Glo, imagine when emptyN started their midnit call, you must have N100, which u will invariably use at daybreak, when Glo came, even if u have a kobo on your phone, you will call for free, and from 12-5am, emptyN is d dumbest network so far, , when they first came again, they informed per second billing cant work, Glo debunked that, they think they can hoodwink us again, no way, i wont be suprised when Glo comes again with a true free weekend call at no extra cost, am waiting, Starcomms with fewer customers, and same operating business environment(nepa, security e.t.c) is doing these, and no noise about it, i only hope one of emptyNs PR person is reading all these, emptyN shiooo, !!!

This a way of making money.

Let us analyse it.

If I want to call my mother during the weekend, I will pay N100 and my mother will pay N100 i.e N200. If I want to include my dad, I will pay another N100 and my dad will pay N100  i.e 200. Which mean for me to talk with my parents on weekend, I will spend N400 naira. Imagine 1000,000 people that will do that in a weekend. Your calculate will display error if you want to calculate this.

MTN is not giving us free call what they did is that they rolled out more product in the market, so if you like it buy, if you don't leave it.

For me, I will not buy it, with N400 on the plan I have now,I will have a family meeting with my parents and have balance. So why waste on weekend alone.

Moreover, I don't know why I should wait until weekend to call a friend. This MTN people should emulate etisalat in giving free call.

It is a very useful company to me since it puts bread on one of my relative's table.

Of course we should all by now know that there's nothing like free meal.

Nothing goes for nothing in dis country,MTN shld stop to fool us, otherwise they are fool, wat they want is ,

sell more lines because they kno dat we nigerians like free things.

They make more money because from 150million ppl in naija at least 10million will want to make free calls ova the wkend, tell me 10million x 100,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,huge amount of money awaiting them.

they kno wat they are doing.

There is nothing free about this package, why are you people ignoring the fact that #200 is involved in the whole stuff. Even as i know emptyN and their rub bish gimmicks, they'll still have a way of deducting their money from your balance during the week. As far as am concerned MTN SHOULD BE LIKENED TO SATAN WHO'LL COLLECTED UR CHILD IN RETURN FOR A HEN GIVEN TO YOU. Hmmmmn, emptyN is poo, Etibaba ROCKS jooor.

I think we should be very careful with our judgement on issues. Mtn may be making money in Nigeria just like every other communication firms but we have to really consider so many factors peculiar to Nigeria 's business terrain. They have thousands of base stations across the country been powered by generators, maintenence of facilities, employees's welfare, they are involved in a lot of coorperate social responsibilty projects, they pay millions of naira to government via tax, licence and other forms of taxes. So I dont see any extortion if they are charging just 100 naira for a weekend call.

MTN is the worst company on earth.  Can you remember the last time they did a promo to encourage their customers? MTN feel they are controlling Telecoms in Nigeria so to hell with all their subscribers. I have an MTN line, but only use to call persons on my family and friends list. Etisalat is what i use to make all my calls, even MTN calls at 15 naira per minute. MTN no fit catch me mugu again, thanks to etisalat

Hope people will be able to get through and the lines wont be jammed and bad network wont frustarte people to abandon the free weekend rubbish, which isnt free at all as 100naira is involved. which is quite ok as long as its good service and has no hidden charges or issues.

MTN can never give you anything for free. They are likened to satan: gives you one blessing and takes ten in return.

"educated people are easy to rule but difficult to enslave" I won't allow mtn to rule/ruin my finance. If the company can't make it FREE, others wil!

If you make free calls throughout the weekend and you are charged N100 each does amount to free calls? Do ur calculation poster and stop tagging MTN as dubious. Nigerians, always looking out for ways to get awoof.

I'll suggest you all find out about the tariff plans then make a choice before migrating. Afterall no be force to use mtn lines

Don't mind those folks, they could be very dubious, you know? I'm currently on their site trying to get the 411 on the Funlink package before venturing.

well guys having said all,me i know that we nigerians are very selfish we like all things being free then at the end of the day we miss use it ,am sure if mtn declares free call for every body me and u will probably have a thousand and one dropped calls, cause pple will definitely call and call for hours and will deprive other from getting thru ,when glo did their own free call,i could not get trough to all the numbers i was calling y?cos every nigerian was probably calling at the same time,"awof"so i think MTN is being wise or do you want them to stay something they cannot finish like our so called GLO pple.

Do you say this because you own and run a GSM company? Its very easy to be an arm chair CEO.

I think they are trying to catch late in the market, Etisalat is sweeping massively to pick up their customers, customers have their MTN lines for receiving calls while using etisalat to make calls to all networks, so simple solution if you aint happy with MTN get an etisalat and enjoy reducded tarriffs to all networks, and the competition could make MTN think of really free offers, but truth of the matter is nothing is absolutely free.

I will make enquiries about the free weekend calls it would save me a lot of credit on calling my lady at least reserve importrant talks till weekend.

Starcomms is doing this thing, and they arent making much noise about it, mtn is making so much money from naija, i repeat so much money, they arent even listed on our stock exchange, that shows that they are financially independent, it doesnt cost Mtn a dime to throw open their lines on a weekend at a simple cost of N100 to d caller, and to all lines, not just to one best friend, when u now wish to several friends then u start paying N100 bucks to several ppl and the other friends too pay, haba that isnt fair, emptyN.

0
Avatar

If you are charging 100 bucks, then simple grammar rules demand that you don't call it "Free"!

That said, i think its a bit silly of the Poster to tag an organization "useless" cos it plans to make calls available at lower tariff to the populace.

what?, would you rather have everything that comes your way totally without charge?

So what happens after the offer time??

guys its not good to be all negative about things, MTN is giving free calls to registered persons under funlink(for young babes and dudes) ,that means you can call the person any time during the 24hrs space free so i dont think the N100 you are paying for can match with the calls you will be making for free think about it,you definitely have a girl friend or best friend out there u mite want to call during the week end and you will definitely spend more than N100 so be fair in your judgement.

^^^

I think poster is alluding to the clever or rather dumb marketing strategy.

If you say it is free, then it should actually be free.

seemples!
