Which Nigerian artist do you think has more potentials of winning a grammy?
can kanye west, eminem, and all this yankee acts win a kora award, gbedu award, hiphopworld award, amen, ? impossible.
let them do their thing and lets do ours,if they find us interesting enough just as we find ourselves they will come to our level which obviously is higher than theirs.and when i said levels am not talking about 2 face, dbanj, am talking of musicians like sunny ades, felas, sunny nneji, lately asa, list goes on.waiting for that day when they yankee artists will be dreaming of wining our awards its all about packaging, thats all!!!
they make us feel they are better than us which is a lie,all they did was bring out their strenghts and buga us with it.and we foolishly left our strenght just as we are doing now and are chasing our weakness.
note* am not a racist, just keeping it real
Well i don't think a Nigerian will win a Grammy anytime soon.not that we don't have the right singers(THEY ARE VERY FEW ANYWAY) but the organizers of the Grammy award have very funny way of picking their winners(i don't see the reason why Amy kolohouse have to win 5 Grammy her songs remind me of the undead and to think she was still on crack)but if by Gods intervention a Nigerian is picked then it will have to be Asa or/and 9ice another person i would also pick is Lagbaja but i don't think he have anything new for now.
And please o a guy was arguing with me that 9ice has already been nominated for next years Grammy and that he heard it on radio but from my search online nomination list is not yet out and it will be out by December 3 if am wrong let me know and I'll also like to know the category and who else is nominated on the list too
Everyone is making noise about Tuface because he was the best African Act at a time when music in Africa was at an all-time low. His only good song ever is African Queen. And when I say good, I mean good, not what-you-like.
Who told u that 2 face is not good. For an artiste to win MOBO, MTV Ema . Or do you think we are talking about
Saheed Osupa here. When talking about his good songs, how about "If love is a crime",My Love". Please think twice before you talk next time or is it because his album is not fully out.Just wait and see.
I choose nnenna as my grammy nominee. If i owned the grammies i'll dash her a dozen in the world music category. That girl is a stunner anytime anyday. Her style is too original. Her music blends africanism with the contemporary. The international market will welcome her with open arms and dazzle her with awards in the near future.Trust me this is not a prediction but a statement of fact.Have you heard her sing?
Although we've got artistes who qualify for the grammies. I dont see a nigerian winning it anytime soon.Believe it or not we might even get a nomination but as for winning, the day that happens its goin to be an artiste noone expects. That award cannot be predicted.I dont even know how the judges do their thing over there.Their prerequisites can be unprecedented.
who's talking of tuface?have u heard his 'promotional album"? that guy simply lacks the class of a grammy award winner. collaborating with r.kelly don't mean poo to me,if you ask me, kels also needs a career revival,he's almost gone. d'banj, well, not his type. what disqualifies 2face wud also disqualify 9ice and its no use analyzing p-square's chances. the only person i know that cud do it,miraculously, is asa.
Grammy is a big event no doubt and a big achievement for a Nigerian based ariste to win. However it is not an under achievement if a good artiste in Nigeria does not win because clearly it was not designed for artistes outside America. Artistes with successful albums like Craig David even legends like Bob Marley didn't win it. A situation where many artistes from different parts of the world including Africa are grouped under one category of world music, makes it more of a game of luck for that category. compare this with that of MTV for example where there is a particular category for Best African Act.
As far as am concerned an artiste, that wins Artiste of the year in KORA and Best African act in MTV same yr has a greater achievement than a Nigerian based artiste that wins a Grammy for that yr
For those saying D'banj and co cannot win should have a rethink because lyrics may not be a strong factor considered, because I don't think the organisers of grammy are in the best position to access KSA's lyrics who has been nominated twice now and Mariam Makeba who has actually won it. Above lyrics I think the success of the artiste in the region will be stronger factor.
OH MY GOD!!! I goofed this time around! I messed up big time!!
