i beleive that time is now to vote a young and dynamic president in the name os PROF Pat Utomi. If we cannot get rid of all these thiefs(OBJ,ATIKU,BUHARI, ) we cannot see H2O, light Good rd and another aminities that is our right.

Declaring B/holiday to stop Atiku means that he is afred of him, if atiku is really bad let the citizens of nigeria vote him out which i know he has no chance of winning.

We have a monster a president.

I am Confused who to support , Obj or Atiku. Well it is Obvious that FG did this so that the Court will not sit.One thing I have respected Atiku till date is him being able to get justice from the courts for Nigerians.Nobody would have voted Atiku anyway.

Obj is still dreaming of ruling Nigeria from Ota when he is out of office, so he goes the extra mile of disrupting the whole country with public for himself and his cronies like Andy, Tony Anenih, etc.

Please don't forget that they realised the F**k up and now said that banks will be open.I have been able to make transaction yesterday and today.

Guy make Una don't worry, one day we will have a young man that can think well. Obj and Adedibu are getting to 90yrs, they are brain dead

Lets meet at the polls to tell them that our votes count. We have done it before in 1993 and we will do it again.

What gives OBJ the impression that he loves Nigerians more than Nigerians after 8 wasted years that was spent chasing shadows. No light , no water, every house is like a local govt where you have to provide basic amenities for yourself.

The man claims he is a democrat yet he does not wants to see opposition flourish. His candidate in Lagos will definitely lose

as he has nothing to offer. When asked about his plans for Lagos - he claims he wants to align with the centre. Is that the best

that this evil called PDP can offer Lagosians?.

I fear for this country. The present generations of politicians are in their twilight years. We have to stand up and fight for ourselves and our children( Afterall, OBJs daughter, Alis wife and a host of others are on their way to Abuja).

This is surely a theatre of absurds.

Dont know why you folks are stressing yourselves over the hols stuff. The banks still worked, and I also had a business discussion with my brokers on thursday. Also, what stops the Supreme court from deciding Atiku's appeal next week by reaffirming inec's power 2 disqualify candidates?

It appears from the posts that quite a number of pple have assumed the case would favour Atiku. It may turn out otherwise.

I lose no sleep on the antics of the politicians at times like this - it's not new. It will play out and at the end the players will be backslapping themselves oblivious of the trauma and aches they had caused numerous folks. Politics Nigeriana defies standard logic & where care is not taken, can cause depression, high blood pressure, heart failure, etc to innocent and sincere folks who though they wish the country well have no grasps of the peculiarity of the Nigerian situation.

Pls dont let the adrenalin run good folks, the politicians are just up 2 their usual games. The 'free' hols impresses no one - we suspect the motive behind it - and I bet, the apex court is not fooled either, though I suppose they could do with the extras after all the pressure the politicians have put them thru these past months. Meanwhile, other court cases seem to be on hold and some innocent pple are losing out as a result of the focus of the courts.

So good folks, let's chill - we can't influence these events anyway- and watch these drama play out. But one thing is sure, our know it all President will leave and God will not allow his thieving vice to come back. Nigerians deserve a breather from this devious duo.

Nigeria will not die! So arise o compatriots and let us meet at the poll stations.

God bless you all

truth be told, this is really funny. nigeria is one of the few countries where a president can just wake up one day and declare two days as holidays, especially after having a 4-day weekend the previous week.

SOmetimes i wonder when real progress will start in naija.

very true. even Koro who's a muslim was at the Redemption Camp last friday at the vigil to "campaign". plus, they still know they cannot survive by their mortal selves without the backing of otumokpo. even Idi Amin believed in Allah and still carried out rituals. truth is, when you're bad, you never feel safe without spiritual protection from a diety.

To suddenly public holidays when nothing desperate calls for it is one of the most disgusting political stunt this administration can pull. To pull the plugs on the opposition at the eve of a major election in the midst of cries and counter-cries from parties, observers, the international community and the Nigerian public is a disaster the OBJ government fosters. How desperate can OBJ be to stop Atiku? How important is Atiku on the ballot paper? Not important at all. I keep saying Atiku does not stand a chance of winnning elections due in a week so all efforts to stop him are simply futile. The man will not win even in Adamawa state. I know that because of the disenchantment he has down there.

Therefore to suddenly declare holidays when people are suffering and trying to eke out a living from the failed system we have is the most disgraceful thing a dejected and defilied government OBJ runs can do.

OBJ can do whatever he wants with the powers granted him by the constitution. he should know that HE IS NOT GOD, CANNOT PLAY GOD AND THAT GOD IS WATCHING EVERY STUNT HE PULLS.. I pray that all those who make Nigerians suffer because of the fraudulent and selfish acts will one day find justice that will be painfull and last long!

Now that Thursday 12th and friday 13th April have been declared as public holidays, Let all the youth support INEC to conduct a peaceful, free and very fair election come saturday April 14th 2007 by saying NO!! to juvenile delinquency such as Violence, Thuggery, political assasins and rigging. But lets say yes to Excellence!!!!

Why does everybody believe that PDP can rig the election and Atiku does not have the capacity to?, He must be stopped, Atiku is a menance to s

I AGREE COMPLETELY,PEOPLE SHOULD STOP DECEIVING THEMSELVES.EVEN IF OBJ DID THIS TO STOP ATIKU THEN HE IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK.ATIKU IS A CRIMINAL AND EVERYBODY KNOWS IT.DEMOCRACY MEANS DIFFENRENT THINGS TO DIFFENRENT COUNTRIES.GEORGE BUSH IS RULING THE MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WITH A STOLEN MANDATE.HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU SEE SHOUTING BLUE MURDER?, NONE.IF THE WHOLE IDEA IS TO STOP AN UNEDUCATED THIEF (SPELT ATIKU) FROM BECOMING PRESIDENT THEN SO BE IT.

I am not surprised at all. He is a soldier in 'sheep' clothing. It always a one way street , like a zombie.

Although good for employees but too bad for business owners especially after just coming from the easter break.

And the reason " two days for travel", does he not realize the person that is going to travel would have made arrangements ages ago rather than the night before.

I beg my brothers and sisters vote this pple out.

What kind of nonesense holiday is this after returning from a 4 day weekend? No wonder we are not developed. Running a country like a beer parlour.

@omon,

You are joking right?

How many people will die in hospital across the country today; no Doctor or no money from Bank or drug cause everyone is on unplanned holiday!

I have always known Obasanjo is the worst thing that happened to modern Nigeria. How can a President unilaterally declare public holiday to satisfy his selfish agenda? I don't understand this at all. I think Nigeria deserves a better leader.

Can't wait to see the man leave on May 29.

@2dye4,

then you asked:

Question: are Nigerians so traumatized they cant even see how one-man screwing up there lives?

I could imagine what mess this would cause to people's life?

what about those in Hosiptal to be operated?

those who have debt to collect?

The business owner that have to pay interest back to bank?

The stock who cant sell or buy?

I expect all round condemnation of this and fully rejection but alas NIGERIANS will get what they deserve if nobody speak-up!

It is most irritating

I too think its bloody ridiculous but then again Naija is a young democracy, I say let the FG do whatever is reasonably necessary to ensure that the elections hold.

Everyone fails to remember that all the western countries were once in this position where anarchy ruled,

one thing i don't understand about Nigeria is how come they did not declare these two days as holiday long time ago. I can't imagine another country saying tomorrow and next tomorrow is bank holiday without any notice.

I guess its only in naija things like this can happen

this is banana republic! This country is a joke!

when do you see Bush or Blair or Howard declaring public holiday from no where?

Do you know the cost to ordinary people?

Do you know the cost to Businesses? This is politically motivated.

This ability to declare public holiday should be removed from executive only NA after delibration with each states should be able to this.
