Can Nigeria become a nation?
yes it is a nation, and if u try to escape, it will be war , u can ask biafra. We have failed as a nation and as kobojunkie put it, it is one thing to know it and it is another to implement it.
I think there should be law and order, laws against all forms of tribalism which can be punishable with fines and jail times. It can be implemented in the work force, implemented in universities, and public spaces then the secondary schools can get suspension for being tribalistic that way ur parent teaches you to act proper and it should be reinforced from nursery school that we are one with emphasis on Nigeria as one and then others in Africa. Anyone from Nigeria should be able to live and work anywhere in Nigeria without fear of this or that.
Keep waiting while I enjoy my life to the fullest. . . Do I look suicidal from my pictures on Nairaland? If I lived in Nigeria. . .I would gladly have shot myself straight through the eyes or slit ma wrist! All you guys do is steal and prostitute over there!
Who cares about whether Nigeria will care or not. Does it care about you? That is why you are so miserable! All I have is pity for you!
You can't even identify the village where you are from. Keep living in bondage. . .when you finish from your miserable journey in Nigeria. . .you continue the spiritual one to eternal poverty and damnation!
I disagree with this. I don't believe tribalism is the reason why Nigeria is not to be considered a nation today. I have lived in the south here and many down there consider themselves southerners who are also americans but so far, that is not breaking up america into bits. I understand how many feel when the word tribe is used but I believe that is not close to being the core of our problems in that country at all.
Yes, Nigeria can become a nation. But in the next (our) generation. The present generation has failed woefully. They are so tribalistic!! Its disgusting!!
Introduce your friend to your parents, the first question they will ask is: 'Where is he/ she from?' Why? To determine the tribe in order to access and pass premature judgment on their character. You hear comments like: 'Hmm, your friend is Yoruba. Be careful, you know the Yoruba's are stingy' or 'Hmm, your friend is Ibo. Be careful, you know the Ibo's are dubious'. Bullshit.
I believe all the healing, re-construction, re-conciliation, re-integration etc will take place in our generation. I've lost hope in the present generation.
