@post

yes but it will be extremely difficult due to the pervading air of gerontocracy being part and parcel of our culture,the first step for the youths is to hijact the relevant pressure groups and machinery from the old guard and then go on from there,i read in one of the dailies about afenifere renewal whic is a youth wing of afenifere independent of the old ones,this is the attitude nigerian youths need as the elders are not ready to give up without a fight,the igbo youths should endeavour to take over the relevant ikenga or whatever theirs is called and hausa youths should endeavour to wrestle the arewa forum and we will start to see changes

Yes, i am young, and i am the only one that can rule Nigeria successfully. I will be a dictator, hibrid of Abacha, Mandela, Margaret Tasha (can't spell) and Bill Clinton. I will impose my laws. I will not allow democracy because it doesnt work in nations as diverse as Nigeria. I will make everybody speak English, by force. I will eliminate all the Past Rulers by leaving them to be stoned at a market square. I will make Police and military have pay equivalent to teachers that way they don't take bribe. I will not make education free because it lowers the standards. The only thing that will be free will be water and air. You will still have to pay to park your vehicles and pay tax for sales or purchases, in short everything will be taxed. Every one must have a national identification number for social security purposes. If you are not educated you will be drafted to the farm, or manual labor (brick laying etc) whether you like it or not. I will split the country into 3 regions North, West and East, with each having a prime minister, any community feeling marginalized will be silenced by my military. I'm sorry we cannot be split into 400 tribes, if u are not happy with 3 regions, i will have to imprison you. I will pull out of OPEC, and increase the price of each barrel of Oil, fortunately Nigeria has the best Oil in the world, the US will still buy it. I will make the oil companies develop all the roads in Nigeria, else they get the f**k out of the country. And those rioters in the delta will all be in jail. I will fire all the NEPA managers, and contract out the managing of Nigerias engergy sector to SIEMENS (a german energy company), i don't care about Nationalism here, Nigerians couldn't manage it in the past 40yrs, let Germany try. Well i have a 100 other things i plan to do, but i am not interested yet. After 30 years, if the next generation is not as crooked as this generation, i may reconsider. By then i will be Old, so we can safely say Nigeria cannot have a young president. Nobody can save that country except a benevolent dictator. There are only a few of them left in this world, and i happen to be one.

Yes 35 to 40 if there are any candidates between that age, we need a new breed and generation of leaders.

Ever since primary school, I ve been singing "we are the leaders of tomorrow" now, am in a tetiary institution, am wondering when we would ever lead, Sad enough, Nigeria has been recycling used brains, unless the younger generation rise up to the task and sieze power, no one will give it to them until they are at least 65. But can we really call 40 young when life expectancy of Nigerians is 50years,

we can only have a young president if the general populace have a reorientation.personally i think donald duke will make a good presidant cos he has a lot of ideas and he actually carries them out.

They may understand somethings, but as Jack Gowon proved as Head of State from 1966 (29 years) to 1975 (38 years), they lack the maturity to handle the position.

Shame you did it all at 26,

I hope you come to terms with boredom,

All they that have made it young would agree -------Che

40 can go either way. Some can see it as young while others as old. Nothwithstanding I was thinking young more in the sense of people that are either just out of school or have been out of school for a while without jobs. They would understand how important education is in Nigeria moving forward.

I think it will be wise to say that in other for Nigeria to really move forward we have to improve our education system. Because many of the people that study abroad will rather stay back where they are and work, rather than come back home and suffer.

So if most of the people that have got good education abroad don't come back, then who will help in the development of Nigeria.

According to this 'ere l'il document, the president must have attained 40 years of age. Which gives me some 14 years to be able to aspire to that exalted position. . .

Nigerian Democracy - Government of the elite, by the elite and for the elite. Minimum age of 60 required.

Alternative meaning in European and American English: See gerontocracy.
