Eko Atlantic Is This For Real?

Is this realistic, or I am just being cynical? However, I think this is a misplaced priorities. There are far more important issues to deal with in Nigeria and Lagos in particular: Education, Transportation, SECURITY, Pollution, reconstruction of old structure, and its overall maintenance. All this will “create or preserve about 3 – 4 Million Jobs” (quoting Obama’s job creation plan), seriously there is going to be sanity in Lagos if the money is invested in some of my list and I hope the ‘Chinese’ won’t be taking the project too (keep it local). And BTW, the next administrator can kill the project to start his initiatives. Continuity is a problem in Nigeria and I don’t think ‘we’ are ready for the EKO Atlantic Vision yet. So many Visions in the past 2000, 2010, now we at 2020.

There is nothing you do for human being that will satisfy them.

My advice to Fashola is to please continue to use tax payers money for his

continual worth while projects. At least, we can pin point our hands to what his

predecessors did. We saw there face, we heard them sell ideas to us but we saw neither our money

nor their ideas executed. Now we have a governor that utilizing our money to the things he promised

to do and we are still complaining that he should have been doing something else.

How I wish Koro or whatever they call his name had won the election, all of you would almost have been

cursing the day Lagos voted him in. You ungrateful lots!

Fashola go ahead with your great work you still have the support of some of us.

KnowAll, Land reclamation has been going on since the late 1800s and its a very old and simple technology in which any company can perform. The reason for Eko Atlantic is to reclaim land that was lost from Victoria island due to erosion.

This is not the first mega city proposed for Lagos, their was another made many years ago by architect James Rossant . He also designed his on reclaimed land, so their must be an important reason they choose to build the city on top of reclaimed land. His project obviously did not get picked up by private investor so we should be lucky that they are finally going to build something big in nigeria.

debosky, you don't understand, electrification is the same thing as producing power supply. Also, in every developed country, the elites are not the drivers of economic growth, its the middle class. The gap between the wealthy and the common man on the street keeps getting wider and wider, and the number of people getting into the middle class is not enough. 70% of lagosians live below the poverty line let's not forget that. You might not be one of them but they are human beings also.

I am not saying that we should be feeding this people or clothing them. There is a saying that goes like this "give a man a fish and he would come back the next day to ask for more but teach him how to fish and he would never come back again" (or something like that). What i am simply saying is that in Nigeria unlike the developed world, we have A PERMANENT UNDERCLASS and in order to shift this people up the socio-economic ladder we should invest in them by providing free world class education for them. For example, our public school system is one of the worst in the world, why not invest heavily in it. When you have schools like Ansarudeen secondary school in nigeria, you can't go to this school and become the next Sergey Brin (founder of google), it just doesn't happen that way. If you provide very good schools and enforce the laws that every child under 16 must go to school that would reduce the number of hawkers on the street.

Another way of reducing hawkers is through agriculture. When Nigeria abandoned agriculture in the 70's because of oil, a lot of youths moved from the rural areas and migrated to the cities looking for opportunities and because of the lack of opportunities, they became touts, armed robbers and prostitutes. If the Fashola's govt can focus on agricultural education. For example, a one month forum in every LGA in lagos state where they invite agricultural experts from abroad to teach local farmers new agricultural techniques. This coupled by a move by the state govt to provide free tractors for rural farmers would go a very long way. If the govt can give loans to people in rural areas through community banks this would help more people buy land get heavily involved in agriculture, but steps should be taken to avoid rich people crowding out the rural people from owning land and being able to compete or else we would have another south america on our hands. Now, back to the power supply issue, if the state govt can provide rural areas with constant power supply and declare all rural areas tax free zones, industries would be opening up left and right especially light industries like textile and food processing plants. This along with a great transportation system were the people in the rural areas can take there products to the urban areas and sell them or to the ports for exports would create a lot of jobs and you would see the agberos going back to work in the rural areas. Nobody would want to migrate to the city where costs of living is higher because there is constant electricity in the village, there is standard affordable healthcare, there are jobs and most importantly you have world class primary and secondary schools in the villages.

I still maintain Eko Atlantic city, to build a new city on top of the sea will not happen. They have not finish building on land they will now say they want to build a new city on top of the sea. That will not happen in the next 100 years. Even the ducth company that is doing the sand filling have not built a city on the sea in Holland. Every other land based project is acheivable.

MP007,

Look what Fashola is doing is wrong it is an example of putting the carriage before the horse. Its not the govts job to create wealth and build skyscrapers (business district or whatever they call it) hoping that rich westerners would come there, this is what happened in Thailand and other Asian countries and it failed. Go to Thailand and you would see empty skyscrapers. What happens when demand is a lot less than supply then? My friend in Dubai said the real estate bubble in Dubai just busted. This guys were doing the same thing that Fashola is now doing and guess what? all those skyscrapers they kept building nobody is leaving in it. Its the job of the govt to facilitate the creation of wealth by providing basic public goods like constant power supply, a sophisticated transportation network to boost commerce, and creating a well educated labor market which this guy is not doing. We can't become like America overnight. Fashola should have a bottom up approach by focussing on basic projects to boost the standard of living of people like access to clean water, rural development through agriculture and the electrification of the rural areas so as to provide so as to boost the standard of living of the people. It is all this factors that lead to a rich country. What is the purpose of building shiny skyscrapers when you have street hawkers begging foreigners with suits and ties to buy pure water or Nupe traders selling "guguru and epa" on the street next to a business executive in a maybach. This is the same problem in South Africa, the country might have a high GDP what is the PCI (per capita income)? With all there skyscrapers, you have the highest crime rate in the world because of people who move from rural areas to the city and wind up living in ghettos and because of lack of opportunity start committing crimes. Let's not jump the gun here by going ahead of ourselves instead of focusing on the things that matter the most, the average citizen and NOT the foreign investors or the elites and the nigerians coming back from abroad.

The govt should leave the building of the skyscrapers to the private sector and focus on our pathetic public school system. All it costs to have a world class medical school is $120 million dollars (20 for faculty and 100 for the facility). This would cost a lot less in Nigeria because of lower labor costs and permits cost. A world class engineering college costs less than that but i don't see Fashola focusing on that. He is focusing on planting flowers instead, you can put a make up on a burned victim but you still cannot hide the scars. You can build all the houses in Lagos all you want but what's the need when nobody can afford it.

mowire, the people of ikoyi are blocking the progress of lagos.  i believe you did not read my posting.  I notice you hate me.  sorry i cant help you. I am a student of the great chief obafemi awolowo. And i would tell you this,  i watch the video, but i could not pick out anything from it. it did not show what fashola have done.

i do not think buying 200 buses is great. I have google and i discovered that nearly every governor in nigeria did the samething.  You can not separate fashola from tinubu 8 years of govt because fashola was the engine room of tinubu government. so we are saying as secretary to the state govt fashola was running lagos. And have been in charge for 10 years.

Look i can not hold the same position fashola had the advantage to hold without transforming lagos. I would believe my problem is that i lived abroad for too long to see what lagos can become. if i am SSG and governor.  Lagos would be transfer and i would do better than fashola. If I am fashola SSG do you think i would run away from his past No. Tinubu govt is fashola. and it was 10 years.  SSG controls the govt. plan and develop. If you can not plan and develop, you should not be SSG.

let me help fashola here. Fashola should rezone ikoyi to a business district.   In the rezonning of ikoyi, the law should force all building to not be less than a 5 level. I would tell fashola this. everybody in ikoyi can build a 5 level house . And average price of ikoyi house is above N60 million. [$500,000], And VGC is about the same.

In nigeria most people who buy this homes pay cash. it is not borrowed money. And people in ikoyi can build 5 level houses. and because it is too close to victoria island. with noise and all that, this rich people would be force to move someday. why not make them to move now.

If you rezone ikoyi. the value of this rich people home who jump up and to about $1.5 million. which they may decide to sell or do otherwise. I can tell you , ikoyi would be force to be a business district in future, why not do it now.

And if you do this you would increase job in the construction industry and get about 20% of the economy moving.  This would create a chain reaction and affect the life of 15 to 20 % of the people of lagos.

2. If you do this. it would also create another develop area in lagos where they would relocate to.

3 If you do this, if you look at the satellite pictures of lagos, you would see that, it would be possible to build a bridge from the Ikorodu to ikoyi. The length of the bridge is about 10.34 km.

It would reduce traffic in the island.

4 This bridge would decongest lagos, because it would make the ikorodu area develop. And it would take about 12 minute to get to the island from ikorodu.

So the people of ikoyi are blocking the progress of lagos.   And thier properties too need to go, in the new redesign of Lagos.

And you would want to force the rich out of that area. to make it business district because they have the money to develop. all fashola needs to do is just watch them.

you would not believe your eyes.

In here one see all shades of opinions that represent the true Nigerian character (or one should one say). From the intelligent and educating analysis of the deboskys to the outright silly opinions of the seemingly mentally impoverished becommrich and politically frustrated tundeoshobs.

I think this becommrich guy is one to be ignored, at least on this thread, because he obviously is lacking in sensible reasoning. But tundeoshob should please remove evil veil that your political opposition (I sincerely think that's your main problem with Tinubu) has cast over your better reasoning. How could you assert that the BRT buses are refubished tokunbo. If you are so ill informed then you and your type need to know that those buses are private properties purchased with bank loans guaranteed by the state govt.

I must confess my first knowledge of the Eko Atlantic project is through this thread. I have visited the website and have not seen anything potraying it as another project to be funded with public fund. It does not seem a project affordable by any state govt in Ngr in 8yrs. And as other sensible posters have pointed out this is another private financed project. When (if) completed will in no small way contribute to the economy of the state.

The tundeoshobs here continue to raise the issue of the 4th mainland bridge. Their ignorance will not let them know that that was a BOT project that the private financiers grew cold feet because they could see that their investment was insecure with the kind of politics that obj liked to play then.

If you have the fund you can (I believe) approach Lagos state govt to finance the 4th mainland bridge. They should be more than ready to do biz with you.

There are morons here too.

business district, are you serious,  should it be at the cost of the poor, why dont fashola go to ikoyi and pull it down,  ?  look ikoyi is the best place to build a business district. because the people of ikoyi can affort to build new houses. this poor people can not affort to do the same.

i am a person who is not scared to speak the truth. i have even been told not to come down to nigeria because i may be arrested and charge or killed , but i would not stop to speak the truth. even i would speak against yar adua, i would speak against pastor adeboye if i find out he is wrong. because we would give account of what we do on earth. Go and find out i critic even pastor adeboye sometime. i do not support evil. i dont care who they are. i do not seek favour from men but from God. if fashola like , he should not like me. but i have to tell him the truth.

how do you redesign lagos, where do you want this people to live. they worked all thier lifes to build a place to take care of thier family. fashola comes to destroy it without providing an alternative. we are talking of fellow yorubas. What he is trying to do is make some people who are already rich richer and make the poor poorer.

Is the business district for the poor or rich? the answer is for the rich, yes it is for the rich.

I am not saying dont break people home but provide them with alternative resident. Fashola have been in power for 2 years  and 10 years fashola have been in govt of lagos as SSG and governor of lagos,  10 years fashola have been there to do this. . give him enough time to build alternate houses for this people before the project started.  I am not saying that fashola should not continue but he as to provide alternative for people as he build business district for the very rich.

If I become the governor of lagos state, i believe we have to rebuild lagos, yes but have fashola seen the satellite picture, if he as, they have to look at the satellite pictures to redesign lagos , it does not need too much to destroy people homes to lagos. it takes vision. if fashola does not believe. I dont have the time to help him use computer to design lagos.  except if he can pay me to do that and send the pictures to him.

You some time do not need dual road to make lagos beautiful. In the city of toronto. the downtown was initially not planned. but come see it now. you would be shock, it look plan. but it was initially not plan.

Fashola should consider very well. the idea of one way road. it is the way to go. and also fashola can make billions . i mean 2 times what he makes now for lagos , if he use one way road and this he does not have to destroy too people homes.   If I become the governor of lagos state, i would make one way road and not try to force dual system. Any good engineer would tell you for a city like lagos. one way road should be the best option, since lagos was not pre plan.

One way is more effective than the dual system and you would still get the same effect and it is even faster than dual system.

on the light rail. i would not do it the way fashola is doing it. i would locate the rail system out of lagos. and introduce bus route to this location.  i dont have time to draw map.

It is too late to cry, the demage is already done. My question now is what would fashola do now to help this families he as destroy thier lifes and futures.  he should look at destroying Ikoyi houses as use it for  business district.  You see most of the homes in ikoyi are rich and this people can affort to build another houses in lagos. while if you force the people in ikoyi to redesign thier home into business district. you would be shock with the type of houses that would come up with. and most road is alreay plan.

And if you make ikoyi a business district, most of the owner can affort to build new houses in other area of lagos , like the yorubas would say, ile oba ti ojo, ewa lo bu si.

My question now is what would fashola do now to help this families he as destroy thier lifes and futures.  This is what we want to see fashola , please help this people. they need help,  he has destroy thier lifes and God have put power in his hand that he can also build it.

Development must have a humanface.

to sell himself to Lagosian. He did nothing tangible. Fashola's short term achievement far outweighs anything Tinubu has ever done on earth.

We have more than enough to complete these projects we are just too dellusioned to believe anything tangible can come out of our country

because we are used to our government declaring N10billion budget for a N1million project.

I desire several high-profile projects to be achieved in Nigeria. The government cannot provide everything for the masses. The only thing it needs to do is to provide the framework or better put platform where investors and crazy dreamers like me can foist their dreams to reality. I know a wretched brigde buit in 1973 thereabout before I was born in Kogi state. All I need is the governor's approval to build a world-class suspension bridge and mount tolls to recoup my investments over 10-15 years. But this gov is not like Fashola.

yes , you want to find out about the republic of benin project.

What we want is that the area on the map. which consist of some nigeria state become part of benin republic. and benin republic would still be a sovereign state, with the united nation status and a president and would have a co-relationship with Nigeria. It would be two countries in one.

Nigeria Benin .

We would have the same currency.

Benin would have and retain a president.

Benin would retain thier united nation staus as a country and operate its laws.

while Nigeria Benin would have a president.

Benin would retain its sovereign and it is an expanded benin, a new benin republic. it would be a country inside Nigeria Benue.

But will have not trading barriers.

Benin would have its own Ministry of Agriculture & Water Resources

Ministry of Commerce and Industry

Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation

Ministry of Defence

Ministry of Education

Ministry of Energy

Ministry of Environment, Housing and Urban Development

Ministry of Finance

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ministry of Health

Ministry of Information & Communications

Ministry of Interior

Ministry of Justice

Ministry of Labour

Ministry of Mines and Steel Development

Ministry of Science and Technology

Ministry of Transportation

Ministry of Women Affairs

Ministry of Youth Development

Thier would also be ministries for Nigeria Benin

Federal Unified Ministry of Agriculture & Water Resources

Federal Unified Ministry of Commerce and Industry

Federal Unified Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation

Federal Unified Ministry of Defence

Federal Unified Ministry of Education

Federal Unified Ministry of Energy

Federal Unified Ministry of Environment, Housing and Urban Development

Federal Unified Ministry of Finance

Federal Unified Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Federal Unified Ministry of Health

Federal Unified Ministry of Information & Communications

Federal Unified Ministry of Interior

Federal Unified Ministry of Justice

Federal Unified Ministry of Labour

Federal Unified Ministry of Mines and Steel Development

Federal Unified Ministry of Science and Technology

Federal Unified Ministry of Transportation

Federal Unified Ministry of Women Affairs

Federal Unified Ministry of Youth Development

When there is clash in the federal law on benin area, the benin law takes over.since they are a full countries. but joint law would still be there and benin can over ride any law it want. Benin shall keep its military. The military shall be separate. benin shall keep its capital and embassy.

would be back.

If you took you time to read my post you will understand I was stating my view and how I feel based on govt track records as well as what our priorities are. My point was the project is a misplaced priority, living in Lagos (as I noticed you don't) there are more that people need than EKO Atlantic. Good jobs, affordable accomodation, health care, security, and education for our children just to name a few.

It was in no way I compared Obama to Fashola, and I wouldn't have a reason to do so (obvious reasons). I was just quoting Obama. "All this will “create or preserve about 3 – 4 Million Jobs” (quoting Obama’s job creation plan), seriously there is going to be sanity in Lagos if the money is invested in some of my list and I hope the ‘Chinese’ won’t be taking the project too (keep it local)."

Me too dey support fashola with mouth.

Is that what fashola want from federal govt? No. What fashola want from Yar adua govt is for Yar adua govt to bear the total cost (100%) of building a metroline in Lagos and for the federal govt to give back 80% of the revenue generated by the federal govt from lagos back.

You dont support a person with mouth, you support with money. but New Benin republic is going to bear 100% the cost of building a metroline in Lagos and the altantic city. Can your Yar adua govt match the New Republic of Benin offer. No? they would rather build it in the North.

This should not be turned to a case of pro Tinubu.

Who started the projects has no juice in this case. What the people want is that the projects are initiated and completed.

I believe there are enough signs to show that these projects will be completed.

To the poster that doubts the completion of the projects :

The 10 lane lekki-expwy will definitely be completed. Its a private project. They've already started building the toll booth right before lekki phase 1 roundabout. (i'm in the country now so i should know). They've cleared roads all the way from mobil house to VGC. This is a done deal.

The light rail/badagry expwy will be completed. They've already marked houses for demolition along this route. The only thing that can stop these projects is the current financial crunch. Nothing else.

Work is already in progress at the lekki free trade zone. You need to be there before misyaning. They're building another sea port there as well.

Why do you think they are keen on the Lekki - expwy project. Of what use will the lekki free zone be if people can't get there in 4hrs of lagos traffic.

To be fair to Tinunbu BRT Buses were his idea, and he had already bought the buses from Brazil, was about to embark on the bus route thing when he handed over to Fashola. Fashola now tackled it as if his life depended and brought it to fruition. it took Tinunbu 7 1/2 years to come up with a brilliant Idea. I will have to agree with u that is a moumental failure in anybody's book. Fashola should not let the fire in him die or else those ideas of his will die.

It was also in Tinubu's time that all roads in Lagos Island was modernised and reconstructed including those that are right in the most interior parts of Lagos Island. Most of the roads in V/I and many in Ikoyi were also constructed by him. The reconstruction of Oregun/Ojota road, Lawanson in Surulere, Yaba/Ojuelegba Road, Ijegun road and many more.

Even the buses for the BRT had altready arrived in Lagos and the BRT lanes were being segregated at the time he handed over. Let us also remember that at the foundation laying ceremony of Phase 2 of Lekki/Epe Road, fashola said the road would have been completed before Tinubu left office had OBJ not put serious impediments on his way.

We should appreciate the efforts of our leaders who have served us well.

Na conceptualizing we want chop. Come to think of it are you seriously saying 8 years of Tinubu was spent conceptualising, even a lazy dreamer can do that.

the same thing would happen to fashola. so fashola and other governors in the western niger of nigeria to bring develop. they have to have a secure environment to develop. that can only come when the police is well taken care of. it would mean every police have a gun to fight criminal.

they may have to buy a police for every police man in thier state. this is what fashola need to develop eko altantic, i was told there are 27,000 policemen in lagos. fashola need 27,000 guns for security of lifes and properties in lagos. if the other state in the western niger do that. all thier project to develop thier state would not be a dream , but would come to life.

it is wise for them to maintain their small population than attack us. if they do, even the small population would be wipe off the surface of the earth. i know northerner very well. they are not silly people. they know that ibb and others lied about the census. so they would not attack.

dont worry about attack, we would do business with them. they know if they attack they are finish, who would buy thier goods and service,. Niger republuc can not buy anything from them.

nobody is saying he should not do it. but where is he going to get the money from. look imo state which have less than 1/5 the population of lagos collect about the same money as lagos. so where is the money.

You see , it is good to have a good idea. but under the federal republic of nigeria. fashola should forget it, it is just a dream. look everything awolowo did was because we were in control of our life, and the north was not making that decision for us at that time.

Fashola would be fooling himself and so is all other governor in the western niger of nigeria, if they thing they can do anything under the federal republic of nigeria.

look when obasanjo wanted to build 7 thermal station in the south south , what did yar adua first do because he was a northerner. he cancel them and now sign new one to build them in the north.

And in such a country you thing he can develop. where merit is below dismerit.

When we join benin republic  fashola and other governor would perform like awolowo did. but under nigeria, fashola is wasting his time.  he should be talking of the 300 armored tank and 27,000  guns for the police.  To get rid of criminal. lagos have to fight criminals.

You see the governors in the western niger of nigeria have to support the police to fight crime and get rid of criminals. they can buy guns and other for the police. criminal have to be low.

They prefer the status quo  and IRONICALLY they are the ones that complains the most!

Nothing GOOD comes easy, someone has to sacrifice.  It could be me or you but definitely someone will

Eko Atlantic City will not happen. Fashola wants to do all these things in 4 or maybe 8 years

1. Eko Atalntic City

2. Lekki Free trade zone incorpoating an airport in Lekki

3. 10 LANE Motorway to Badary so that development would move from the Lekki corridor to the Badagry corridor.

4. 4th Mainland Bridge

5. 2 Light rail blue and red line

6. New Lekki City

The man should just do one and leave the rest, he has not got the time to do all these projects and I doubt if he has the money, which means all these projects might be a pipe dream.

This sort of statement can only come from people who would rather prefer the status quo

Eko Atlantic City is completely private initiative that involves no financial outlay by the state government, another one is the Lagos - Epe expressway that will be a 10 lane dual carriage way.  People should allow Fashola to concentrate on the good job he is doing. We that are in Lagos are seeing the difference he is making in out lives on a daily basis and we have no reason to complain.

obviously fashola is bent on getting rid of the common people living in lagos

his contempt for the poor is enormous.

First and foremost, UNILAG is a federal university.!!!!!!!!!!!

LASU (which is owned by lagos state has seen a facelift in recent yrs). Their teaching hospital has been heavily equipped.

Enough with all these unnecessary rants. If you're not sure of whats going on in Lagos, don't make any unnecessary statements.

Who told you that education and the other things are not being addressed.

Eko atlantic city is just the icing on the cake. Last time i checked, it's a freaking Private initiative so what the heck.

Roads are being built everyday in Lagos, solar streetlights are being fixed, u hardly see dirts littering the streets anymore.

Even cases of armed robbery have declined drastically. There was a time when you couldn't drive good cars in lagos due to robbers.

There is construction going on everywhere in lagos. This has led to a lot of people being employed. LAWMA employs people as well.

I think we really need to shut the f up and realize that steps are being taken to improve lagos. It's a gradual process.

Eko atlantic would be for the rich people to move away from the traffic jam of VI and Ikoyi. It is a good idea nonetheless as it reclaims the beach but as long as it is not govt money they are putting into it i am ok. Govt money should be utilised in more pressing infrastructure like the 4th mainland bridge and rail transit.

even though I like the idea, I sense elitism here. The average man is still out of the big picture. affordable housing should be one thing Lagos state government should embark on. Also sanitation should be another followed by stable electricity

This shows the man's INCOMPETENCE. 80% of lagosians live below $1.00 a day and Fashola is busy building houses and planting trees. Don't this people realize that its not the govts job to create wealth( that's the job of the private sector) but to facilitate the growth of wealth by providing public goods like a great transportation infrastructure like roads, railways et. al to allow for the flow of goods from place to place, a free world class educational system so as to have a competent and educated labor market, constant power supply to facilitate industrialization, and security (from robbers and the rest).

Lagos has one of the worst public school systems in Nigeria, the universities are incredibly pathetic  and the standard of living in the rural areas is a lot worse meanwhile lots of nigerians who are used to such awful leadership praise him, its like the one eyed man in the land of the blind. It seems to me that if a leader gets a grade of D for performance we hail him as a hero forgetting the fact that D is still a failing grade. The man is skipping basic projects that lagos needs like Education, Constant power supply, electricity and agriculture to help people in the rural areas. Lagos is HUGELY POPULATED which is a plus if the standard of living was much higher. Can anyone imagine how much better lagos would be if everybody was well educated (i don't mean the nonsense education we get in naija universities) it would have higher standards of living compared to NYC or Chicago.

The man needs to understand that in order to develop lagos he needs to invest in  people and there lives by giving them quality education (not that yeye school they call unilag), quality healthcare instead the man destroys peoples house assuming that they have places to move to and this are the downtrodden and poorest in our society that even God has called us to protect meanwhile fashola is destroying there houses.

Matthew 25:33-46

And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Unclad, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or Unclad, and clothed thee?

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: Unclad, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or Unclad, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
