How Will History Remember Obasanjo?

Tell me what you think.

I will remembered OBJ as a wicked, vengeful, self-serving individual who did not love his country. Twice he led Nigeria and both times, he f*cked up Nigeria badly!!!! He cheated Awolowo to rig in Shagari when everyone knows that Awolowo , even with his faults , would have developed Nigeria. He has now left us with sick and clueless Yar Adua when far, far better Northerners existed.

In almost three years under Yar Adua , nada National movement !!!! Only national redundancy and retrogression.  During his last Presidency,OBJ worked with a lot of progressive Northerners. If at all he is a good and benevolent leader he should have backed one of those guys , and not Yar Adua, for the Presidency given the power and control OBJ wielded. Instead he deliberately produced a man who is sick and whose record as a Governor was mediocre at best. OBJ was banking on Yar Adua doing a terrible job. He knew that with Yar Adua's illness, non-progressive personality and very average CV as Katsina Governor Nigeria would not be gaining a good President in Yar Adua. He went ahead nonetheless for his own selfish reasons. Sheer wickedness !!!!

The crucial and most important years of a country is the beginning and the kind of leadership that steers it towards greatness like George Washington of America, this guy was just a farmer, when he got into public office, he came there to serve the american people and steer them towards democracy not steal federal treasury to rebuild his farm or settle his boys in the party. I am afraid that Nigeria might never recover from "Uncle sege's" 8 years, those who understand politics truly know and understand this. This guy established politics in Nigeria as a cult just like the "cosa nostra" built on graft and violence, therefore ordinary folks like you and me can't even run for elections if we want to change our situation. You need to be on the "in" if you want to even be a civil servant.

as a thief.

This is the same guy who when my parents were in secondary school, told there generation that they would be future leaders, thirty years later he was still that leader. What a shame.

As the president who pledged uninterrupted power, healthcare, good roads, good learning institutions, but,

delivered none.

What good is a cell phone if you're too sick to use it? What good is debt-writeoff is nobody can feel its effects?

What good is a "war on corruption" if in 8 years only 150 people were arrested and prosecuted for financial crimes?

Sadly, Obasanjo could have been remembered as a man who laid the foundations for a modern Nigeria through prudent fiscal policies and an agressive, accelerated development plan which compensates for the 20 years of devastating military rule. Instead, he proved he was too busy enriching his close circle of PDP/ex military crooks.

Finally and in fairness, Obasanjo had good intentions but history does not remember anyone by their intentions but rather by their accomplishments and actions.

Obasanjo is the best president Nigeria has ever had. In a few year's time, we will satrt missing him. Is it in the way he handle issues, his accomplishments, fatherly tendencies and jokes, even his uncultured utterences?, i love everything about that man. In fact, am already missing him.

please let the legasis of obj be gazzetted as outlined by crude oil with the addition of a man that brought down the infrastructures to its wrost record and the first president to appoint ( or select) a successor in the history of nigeria.

the only president to have lined her daughter for senatorial election.

by the way, is he not the urgliest president in our history.

he is the only elected president and self-appointed minister for seven and half years.

he has a lot to be remembered with especially on controversial issues.

i want us to remember him as the most controversial president we have ever seen.

That Bola Ige, a serving minister of justice was murdered in his residence and it ended as a cold case. Nigeria is incredible.

How will History remember “Olisie ego Obu so Njo.”

Probably as one of the luckiest men alive - that is until he dies for Nigeria.

when a man who has been doing good suddenly does a bad deed; all the good things are forgotten. Lets wait for him to leave Aso Rock before looking at history.

Just one of the same and he is sure to be forgotten like those others too because he has failed in one dimension that matters: Laying strong foundation for democracy. Without strong institutions we are not going anywhere.
