Is Baba Adeboye Too Quiet On Political Issues?

Considering the most infleuntial man of God in this country Nigeria and the world at large, yet he does not speak on certain political issues which i feel could take a new turn if people of his calibre alongside his counterparts like Bishop David Oyedepo,Pastor Chris Oyakhilome etc.

My concern was also drawn to the fact that Cicilia Ibru is a dedicated member of the RCCG and we have not heard anything to that regard from Daddy GO.Can I say that his silence in these issues is as a result of his usual self or spiritual direction,my question right now is and i stand to be corrected or educated:Should he stay mute or speak has he is very infleuntial and highly respected world wide, because i strongly believe if he speaks once this nation would hear him because he is truly a man of God.

Not to mention the fact that he mentors so many prestigious men of  God in this country nd abroad. Please no insults to him just be factual and reasonable.

You make me laugh. Did jesus speak out , did Jesus speak on politics in his country at that time. The bible says Jesus spoke out. Jesus was know for speaking on national issue.

You see if you see evil been done to people and you keep quiet. It show what is in your heart. that you support injustice. I speak out through my written because I dont support injustice..

all these men that call themselves men of God are mostly frustrated thieves. they invites all these politicians to their churches and make them deacons and deaconess. they collect money from the masses to build schools and still their schools are most expensive. they tend to denial social live from thier students making it difficult for them to interract with thier mates outside. what are they really teaching us in this country. to me they have not added any positive impact to this country. so what adeboye or the other pastor say does not matter.

Too quiet on what ground? is he a politician or will he go to the street and start flogging all these irresponsible act of our so called politician? Pls he is a man of his own and a man of God let him go on as he is doing and have his peace of mind. Quiet or talking is not the answer to Nigeria problem the nation political arena has failed the populace if even Baba Adeboye started talking belief me they wont listen infact they will even go after him so all we need is to come back to the basis and make a mend if not too late and left Baba Adeboye out of this.

i support ur comment jare, let baba be. d only thing i knw he can do is to pray 4 our country n 4 those on top dat called themselves leaders.

As far as i am concerned i cannot say if he is a man of God or not, since to be a successful pastor in Nigeria nowadays all you need to succeed is to cram the bilble, speak passable english and have good business accumen. But what i do know is that he should be able to tell these corrupt leaders he sees on occassion to please set us free. And he should do this publicly for that matter. We are all political animals. Of course i want to enter heaven, but i am on earth for now. Why must i live through hellish conditions because of some few people?

I don't know why you guys want to drag the name of the servant of God into this mess.

Pastor Adeboye is a true and respected Man of God.

I also want to state here that Cecilia Ibru is not a member of RCCG, she is a member of MFM.

So, I advise you do your homework before publishing falsehood.

Seriously are some people worshipping God or the pastor of their church, why must the man of God get involved in politics, is that what God called him to do , every one has a ministry , aka calling , the ultimate being winning souls for God , what does politics have to do with that. seriously i am a redeemer but i go there cos i like my parish and offers fellowship with people of like mind I do not attend because it is redeemed or because of hero worship for the general overseer

The truth must be said we dont have leaders both spiritually and politically. Our traditional 'chiefs' are the same.

What do you expect him to say?a man of God wit a private jet, dont you think he is just as corrupt,he is just like them, heartless and selfish, maybe he is ur daddy, spiritual or whatever,he can only fool people like you,he has nothin to say,he is an enemy of progress,we dont need 'influential' people like him. As a matter of fact,if everybody thinks this way,Nigeria's doomed.

Old Testament Men of God and New Tetament servants of God like John the baptist were never politicians but played their role well as 'conscience of the nation", especially of national leaders. they spek fiercely against ungodly leadership and acts. so, I expect every servant of god, especially those who with national recognition not to keep quite when in comes to speaking about unrighteousness in "high places' in Nigeria.

THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN MULTIPLE ATTACKS FROM NAIRALANDERS WHENEVER THE NAME ADEBOYE IS MENTIONED. EVERY TIME I JUST KEEP WONDERING WHY HE HAS TO BE INSULTED FOR NO JUST CAUSE. I RESPECT NAIRALANDERS A WHOLE LOT BECAUSE I ALWAYS FEEL THERE'S A BETTER NIGERIA AHEAD OF US WHENEVER I VISIT THIS SITE AND SEE THE INTELLIGENT POSTINGS OF NAIRALANDERS. BUT ADEBOYE IS JUST A MAN OF GOD WHO HAS DISTINGUISHED HIMSELF FROM OTHERS IN HIS HUMBLE LIFESTYLE. I HAVE WORKED WITH HIM AS A BODY GUARD FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS NOW AND I KNOW HIS KIND OF PERSON, PASTOR ADEBOYE WOULD NOT WANT TO COMMENT ON ANYTHING UNLESS HE IS URGED TO DO SO. I THINK IT WOULD BE IN THE INTEREST OF EVERYONE TO TRY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID INSULTING SUCH PEOPLE PUBLICLY, NOTHING STOPS YOU FROM SAYING WHATEVER YOU FEEL ABOUT PEOPLE BUT IT SHOULD NOT BE ON PUBLIC FORUMS LIKE THIS.

I KNOW I WOULD BE INSULTED AS USUAL BY THE UNREPENTANT ONES BUT A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE. Lets keep our religious differences to ourselves

We've said it time and time again. Adeboye is a liar and two faced crook. He kisses the Bottom of corrupt leaders for his pocket. Thank goodness he's 67 years old. The old fool wouldn't be with us much longer. The sad part is another theiving slowpoke would likely take his place. . . . I weep for nigeria!

I guess the preponderance of bad governance and evil in Nigeria is largely due to the facat that religous leaders don't TALK at all. These are people of influence and respect, but they hide behind the cloth and don't call what is bad, bad, thereby giving it their endorsement by proxy.

I wish they'd be courageous enough to speak out more.

what is the essence of religion that will not preach reasons why the Governement cant fix things,is there no political offices in the church and mosques. Where do they hide(the Rulers) under annointing oil, under Alfa prayers. God is in your heart, stop fooling. Indoctrinations-  Most of tyhe clerics will beg in the hereafter.

Mudley313,

Pls tell them. Its obvious we now have two types of Christian leaders

Christian leaders from other parts of the world SPEAK OUT and FIGHT bad goverance, But

Christian Leaders from Nigerian wine and dine with LOOTERS and encourage us to pray and fast for GOOD GOVERNANCE

Wat do u guys exactly want him to say? Fine cecilia Ibru is a memeber of his church and with her character she has shown to do whole world dat shes just a hearer of the word and not a doer of Gods teachings dat she has been hearing through the servant of God, and Bible even tells us dat a sinner will not go unpunished. Besides pastor Adebayo is a prophet and not a politician.

You cannot divorce Religion from Politics. You have to think about the papacity, the prophets

in the bible, Bishop Desmond Tutu and our own Gbonigi.

Baba Adeboye is not alone in this, except perhaps the Methodist church of Nigeria, all of them

did not see anything wrong in 2007election which we all know was rigged, at least in the west.

Erastus Akingbola former boss of Intercontinental launched an FM station and Baba was the first

on the mic.OBJ had the mic at Redeem monthly retreaat, the following day he was at Owu picking

Kolanut with his mouth and he still went back there only to be given the mic again. We are not judging

but for Gods sake,  those who God has given the platform to speak, let them speak.

But they cannot and will notbecause the Yoribas say when you eat Dodo(fried plantain), you cannt

  speak ododo(truth).

Its really terrible when some of us make assertions that are childish, no brainer, sometimes downright silly without any basis for spiritual and/or even intellectual content basically for lack of information, understanding and wisdom. The freedom supposedly we get because of being anonymous on sites like this doesn't preclude us from the consequences of the WORDS we use even on this earth before considering eternity.

Therefore I'd like to advice that we seek wisdom diligently 1st, on any issue because only then will we be able to contribute positively. 'cos we all will account for any and all idle words we speak during our life time regardless of the forum.

A word is enough for the wise. Only a fool will see a trap & then still walk into it.

Archbishop Desmund Tutu not only spoke out but vigorously fought against apartheid in SA

Rev. ML King not only spoke out but marched and died fighting segregation in America

but our so-called men of God wine n dine with our oppressors while seeking favors from them, Its Money over the consequences of fighting against injustice

I'll put Fela or Gani far above these private jet flying so-called men of God their worshippers mugus put n such a high pedestal

I did not know that a great majority of Nairalanders despise Mr. Eunuch Adeboye like this o. That means there is still hope for Nigeria. For the ignorant who have taken refuge under the opium called religion and have become enslaved by ordinary men like Adeboye, please wake up and realise that Adeboye is not any more man of God than you, unless of course you make yourself man of the devil.

@Yjay

Thanks for that post, at least we still have some reasonable people here.

There was a Magazine AD that said, when the Man of God was in his forties,"Get on Tour with the G.O". He was going on a missionary Journey to the nation of isreal then. Today, just post a thread on this Man of God and the outcry u get back will be ernomous. Even the press are waiting to make another scincillating eye catching storyline out of his talks. Is there little wonder why he is one of the most influential people on earth as some call it? So is it not better to keep quiet when u know your cough will make so many heads start rolling? It is a gift given to him by God, to influence people right from the start of his ministry and it pays him not to abuse it by making unplanned and unguided remarks. No matter what coloration we give, this man has certain real backings from the Almighty.

Thank You.

Thank you indeed my friend

Men who have done great evil were regular churchgoers. Men who enslaved and brutalized others, torturers, many racists. Not one pim comes out Nigerians about this, but let it be a Nigerian, all hell breaks loose. According to the non sequitur argument we should hold the Pope personally responsible for every molesting priest and churchgoing Nazi.

By the way I am waiting for the Nigerian laity to tell the Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury to sell their sumptuous accommodation and use the money to "help the masses" to prove their piety.

@chosen04, direct engagement is not always the solution. The Catholic Church never came out and condemned Hitler, but secretly many clergymen and women did what was right and saved many marked for death despite the strained relationship with the Jewish community. If they showed their hand openly they would have not been able to do what they did. What I would like to see is religious figures verifying Tax returns before accepting any donation over N1 million.

As far as I am concerned Mr Adeboye is guilty by association. He's lost all creddibility in my eyes. The prosperity messages he's now famous for his very public association with very questionable characters. He is a very skilled manipulator and PR expert. In truth what can he say? they're all his friends an associates, the oppressors of the people that is. He prays for them and obviously approves of their handling of the situation.
