Is June 12 A Bad Date?

i've been thinking about this since the Iran elections which was held on June 12 2009.

Nigeria held an election on June 12 1993 and we all know how that resulted.

Iran recently held their own elections on June 12 this year and look at whats happening.

Mayhem and destruction and cries of election malpractice and stealing of mandate.

Please is this date Jinxed or is it just a freakish coincidence? what do you think??

True, it will be a problem if conducted on 25th december or on whatever date you set it because OUR democracy was killed at conception.

nobody trusts the system again.

After June 12 annulment, our political and religious crises escalated. READ YOUR HISTORY.

same thing is now happening to Iran

So much superstitions.

Nothing wrong with the date, the people are who have probs.

Conduct Nigerian election on December 25, it will still be a problem.

other countries must learn from the experiences of nigeria and iran.

from the observation so far, june 12 shld not only be seen as a bad date rather a dark date.

I think June 12 saved nigeria of doom, cos i dont think Abiola has what it takes.

besides, i think it is time to stop talking about it

I meant that June 12 seemed to be a bad date to hold a presidential election. In other words, is it a bad day politically? I've checked as much as i can on the web and only Nigerian and Iranian elections appear to be significant politically on June 12.

@dnex

how in God's name do you know that Abiola's death is the best thing to happen to Nigeria.

Do you know that the annulment of June 12 presidential election ruined Nigeria politically? As a student of History and Government, i know that the 1993 elections were the freest and fairest elections held in Nigeria. There were no voilence, or stealing of ballot boxes, no assasinations and kidnappings and Nigerians who are very skeptic about each others religions, jointly voted 2 muslims and both President and vice, something which i doubt will easily occur now.

June 12 annulment killed our democracy at conception

I have no idea how the death of Abiola could be the best thing that ever happened to Nigeria, so i stand to be educated.

Inasmuch as i dont support Abiola being a leader of Nigeria, i will never want him dead, cos he is a great biz man.

There's nothing wrong with the Iranian elections. Even before the elections started, western media was already telling the world that the incumbent was not the favorite. Just because they hate him.

Talk about Abiola, is he not corrupt? Was he not an IBB collaborator? Was he not distributing rice, milk and money to lure voters?

Now, Tinubu and the NADECO crew wants the world to believe June 12 is the best thing that ever happened to us. Rubbish. The deaths of Abacha and Abiola is the best thing that happened to us.

Any date could be bad or good depending on how you see it.

There are so many good things happening on Friday the 13th.

Who now decides which day should be termed bad and which day should be termed good?

To some people, it was and will be a bad date, while for others, its a very blessed date. Some people rejoiced over new born babies while some lost their loved ones on that day. Some won lotteries and had other unique and special things happen to them, while some lost their entire livelihood on that day.

All said and done, I still feel that nigerian june 12 is/was a good date.
