no need to argue, youre an
If the cpi assumes corruption level for a government who doesn't send their info in as you said, wouldnt that make the CPI non credible? Because its based on assumption and perception just like the people you blasted.
Like i said the CPI is criticized because it is insufficient and there is no real way to MEASURE CORRUPTION.
thats WHY ITS CALLED CORRUPTION PERCEPTION INDEX its based on people assuming and their PERCEPTIONS on these countries.
Why would i want to win an argument with you? im only sayin CPI is no different then what people here did which is ASSUME BASED ON THEIR PERCEPTION.
You are an . You do know that CPI do their corruption index based on what THE GOVERNMENT OF THAT NATION SENT THEM, they don't assume. They do not make it. IT'S ELECTION VOTES, ETC THAT THE GOVERNMENT SENT THEM. The only reason Somalia is marked that low now is because their government is refusing to send them anything. That's the only time they assume is when the government aren't sending any information.
Abeg, STFU. Stop talking to me. Cause anytime i argue with you; I end up winning. STFU, stop talking to me. You annoy the crap out of me so waka go. Haba.
theres no difference between Nigeria and America except maturity and advancement
and the politicians in yankee dont steal from public funds
Nigerias consitution is only 40+ years fresh.
but the inhumanity nigeria shows is just to much for the 21st century.
this corruption in America differs from Nigerias own who steals PUBLIC TAX MONEY and pocket it
THIS TYPE OCCURS FREQUENTLY between private companies and government official in America-lobbyist and such
But in naija they are too damn greedy and start taking from PUBLIC TAXES and UN money
thats where the outside world has conflict wit nigerian government
Chei. I wish Theseeker had not said what he said oooo. I am itching to curse you like shege but i wont (just for today) because he has politely asked me to. Okay, back to your post:
Are you one of those who got "had" by the system. You seem to be venting unnecessarily. How do you call something like a mortgage and credit card corruption. You are a grown Bottom man. If you can not read the fine print, that is your problem. If you do not know when to stop swiping your credit card, that is your problem. Your are just being sentimental. You are taking away from the topic. This is just a personal vendetta you have against the system. Your post has nothing to do with what we are talking about.
The fact that you cant save is your own problem.
My first year out of college, i saved a minimum of $25,000 so what the f are you talking about. This is after removing apt fees, cable, insurance and all the likes.
What bank do you use? Did you read the fineprint when you accepted the debit card. I have a debit card that i have been using for over a 8yrs. I stopped using it 4yrs ago. I have never been charged. I still have money in the account and they keep sending me a new card once the card expires. YOU HAVE NO POINT.
Nobody will spoon feed you in America. Everything is there for you to see/read. It is no ones fault if you are too lazy to look before you leap.
@ A-town Let me tell you where you goofed: Any system that encourages you to live over and beyond your means is corrupt. We are seeing the result with the total economic meltdown. Almost everybody is owing minimum of 10k in credit card bills. Not very many can pay mortgages. Cars are being reposesed on a daily basis. How can somebody who earns 25k annually be allowed to buy a house of 1 million? living above your means is corruption. How can a system discourage savings; you are taxed heavily if you leave money too long in your account. If you have a debit card you must use it constantly or charges will be deducted from your account. What kind of system will allow you to market false products on tv. No matter good the marketing is, it is still wrong. I hope you are not allowing the american way of life cloud your logic. It is sweet, but not that sweet for me not to see the vices here. The reason you are myopic in your views is that as a nigerian your understanding of corruption is ghana must go bags, election rigging and policemen standing in broad daylight to collect bribe. Like i said before ours is too brazen and crude. Theirs is more sophisticated. There is no country without sin. Sure it is better than naija when it comes to administration, policing and amenities and i wouldn't want to go back anytime soon, but still they have their issues as well. Also like i stated before, i do not care how corrupt other countries are but that my country is and it must stop.
I can't say Nigeria is the most corrupt nation but corruption in Nigeria is such that I've never seen or heard about any other country. Nigeria takes it all: Bribery, stealing, looting, nepotism, misappropriation - name it - and I don't see any country doing it better than we are, but I may be inclined to think there's at least one country worse than Nigeria in terms of corruption.
Well, I may slightly agree with some people who share the sentiment that America and Britain are both corrupt but don't you think if they were, these countries won't have had or achieved what they have today? There's a capable welfare for citizens, residents and immigrants in these countries so I don't see their corruption having any visible effect on any of their systems; it's only human that you take advantage of anyone who's weak. If the West has perceived Africa, Nigeria in this context, to be corrupt, they may as well have thought they could gain from our foolishness, after all, it's not their fault that we have chosen to be corruptly foolish.
Nigeria can be said to top the list of corrupt nations because our leaders have proven several times they aren't bothered with what views the world has of them. It's only in Nigeria that billions of Naira are found missing everyday. It's only in Nigeria that unnecessary allowances are given to political officers; it's only in Nigeria that leaders will loot money, found guilty and nothing will be done about it; it's only in Nigeria that there's no justice and no human rights whatsoever; only in Nigeria will you find all sorts of financial mismanagement at all levels - from sports to finances - and no questions will be asked about it.
I don't know of the corruption level of all countries in the world, and I can't say whether or not there's a more corrupt country in the world than Nigeria but Nigeria's corruption exceeds all bounds of measure to putting it in check. Let's just say corruption is a 'normal' practice in Nigeria.
A-Town, please desist from cussing on the thread. You've proven so much intelligence on the education section, why acting funny here? Take it easy abeg!
You've already lost. In the final analysis, no one can prove that anyone or anything is the greatest or worst in the world. Perspectives render the objective obsolete.
Mexico has a more corrupt police force than Nigeria.
In Britain, teachers cheat voluntarily so that their school will climb up the national league table.
They do that too in Britain. Few tell the truth in their CV.
So many countries have a problem with ghost workers. It may well be Nigeria has the highest but I doubt it because you can’t tell me the comparative figures for India, Brazil, Cameroon.
This statement like all the others is a casual observation, only more highfalutin, so wont bother.
See statement 6.
I’m sure Britain spends more on a Bobby and Togo spends less on an officer, so what has the cost of training a police officer got to do with proof of Nigeria being the most corrupt Nation.
So innuendo now amounts to proof. Okay, let me have a go. Many ordinary Americans and British people now own sophisticated research equipment purchased on eBay. Equipments capable of manufacturing viruses – "ooh Ahh, Africans and black people, tremble wiv fear, what could these white people be doing with these equipments?"
This last statement sums up the level of acumen Ghana education gives an individual who schools there.
But ignoring the stupidity of it and looking at the statement, it somewhat highlights the typical Nigerian persons bizarre logic and myopia. I mean how the author somehow attributes corruption only to one party in the transaction. The briber, presumably Nigerian, is more corrupt than the person bribed even though the person bribed is conducting a poll to determine honesty.
Thank you very much you jst took the word out my mouth.
i should have told him that with all the info over the internet i still have educated fellows tell me everyday how Nigeria is the most corrupt Nation on earth. Does it mean these guys cant do the search or google it out before making such conclusion?
Yeah that is why the question was raised to ascertain the fact behind his statement that Nigeria could be the most corrupt nation in the world.
Not even when such word comes from someone whom we knows that his own country practice corruptions in the highest order.
i agree with Mike Wallace, I beg to disagree on some point by Louis Farrakhan, nigeria is not 30 year old, but 95 year old.
Nigeria is very corrupt when compare to the USA or west. There is corruption here but it is not done openly. Nigeria became corrupt less than 35 years ago.
And ethnics is the reason we can not fight corruption because if you appoint a southerner to be the head of the police. And we want to fight corruption. Govt Corruption in nigeria is by northerner at least 70% of the corruption in Nigeria.
This is how northerner became rich, by fraud government contract. And 95% of northerner rich man got thier money through government of nigeria by stealling from the system.
If we do not fight corruption by arresting 95% of northerner we cant fight corruption. And I can tell you, there is nobody in Nigeria who can arrest 1% of corrupt northerners. but when you remove the yorubas, edo, delta and bayelsa state, you break the back of corruption because the northerner corruption are linked to southern partner, when it is the north alone. They can deal with the issue. I know they can deal with it. but under a system together with the south. forget it. Corruption is forever in nigeria.
it is difficult not to be corrupt in nigeria, it is close to be impossible. even if you dont want to be, the system would force you to be.
you would think that racist jews like mike wallace would know better than to make such silly statements but im so glad louis farrakhan brilliantly put him in his place.
wallace seems to think that we are all blind to the atrocities that america has been comitting around the world, this is a country that regularly arms both sides during conflicts (vietnam, iran v iraq, first and second world wars) overthrows democratically elected presidents ( haiti, honduras, nicaragua, panama, ecuador, zaire, ghana and many more) and installs and funds brutal dictatorships (mobutu of zaire, saudi royal family, marcos of the phillipines, pinochet of chile and many more)
farrakhan should have reminded him of the fact that some of the richest families in america ie rockefellers, dulles, mellons financed hitlers war machine during the second world war and miraculously escaped treason charges - he should also have mentioned how henry ford of ford motors helped to build hitlers war machine supplying the nazis with tanks and trucks, how about jfk's father and george bush's jnr's grandfather who laundered money on behalf of the nazis dont those qualify as corrupt practices or is it only when non white people do it that its corrupt?
Before you start blasting others on research you use your own brain. One can't rank corruption precisley which is why the CPI is often criticized. People on here used what they see, same as those who created the CPI so of course opinions would vary. Not to metion that list is manipulated to the likes of westernized non socialist countries. So before you post this trash, use your head. Those that were socialist or one party governments were ranked more corrupt. Those same countries are still ahead of countries named the least, in terms of what was used to measure "corruption".
its common sense
Did you really ask that question? You know you could have just researched it before asking.
Anyway, No it's not. Nigeria used to be the most during Abacha reign. Now it's not. Somalia is.
Nigeria is 121 out of the 180 nations surveyed. Nigeria, Vietnam, Togo, Nepal and Sao Tome are in the same line of corruption. It's still high though
Just research it the next time.
I don't even think some of you people research stuff before talking.
That video was when Nigeria was the most corrupted (which was around 1991-1998)
No its not, but the amount of money that SHOULD be used for schools, hospital roads, BASIC necessities, is being siphoned out in a callous inhumane manner.
I've been told by many of my Professors from Asian countries that Nigeria SHOULD be a leading government and WILL be in the future, if our trend of looting decreases and that Nigerians should thank their stars they are not like India. A country who has all the problems of Nigeria times a billion.
Only a profoundly ignorant, insane and morally bankrupt would think that nigeria is not the most corrupt country in the world. It is one thing using reverse psychology because you’re not upset nor directly affected by the poverty in nigeria quite another if you really let yourself to be mislead by nigerian government propaganda/hypocrisy.
