Nigerians Are the Most Corrupt People In the World?

TRUTH OR FICTION?

AS smart and intelligent as Nigerians are all over the globe. People classified all Nigerians as criminals regardless of your status. Is this because of the corrupt politicians, and government officials, or can someone please explain this slogan that we hear and read about daily to me please.

These are some of the formats that the FBI is aware of among American con artists:

Jury selection Fraud

Telemarketing fraud

Identity Fraud

Health Insurance Fraud

Medicare Fraud

Travelling Salesmen

joystick Enlargement Frauds

View Webcam

Stocks/Shares Scam

Letter of Credit Fraud

Home Delivery Fraud

Primary Bank Note

Ponzi Scheme

Pyramid Scheme

Gadget Inventors Scam

College Scholarship Scam

Credit Card Fraud

Investment Fraud

Business Fraud

Counterfeit Prescription Drugs

Funeral and Cemetery Fraud

Fraudulent Anti-Aging Products

Franchise Fraud

Internet Auction Fraud

Visa Lottery Fraud

Poetry Competition Scam.

Non-Delivery of Merchandise

Casino Cheats

Mortgage Fraud.

The one I found the most amazing and most cruel is the alibi scam. If any of your relatives is in jail or on trial and is still pleading innocent, the con artiste will come to you and claim that he is a witness to the fact that your relative didn't commit the crime,

Then not forgetting corruption in the form of laundering shareholders' funds in $billions viz worldcom, enron, tyco, parmalat.

Then talk of Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and the White House Cabal.

US orders fifteen made in America Boeing C-17 air planes for the military at $3.3billion each. Meanwhile other countries buy it at $2.5billion.

Nigeria, una still dey learn. How many yahoo format dey? Lottery, Next of Kin, Money Order, Disaster Charity Fraud, Romance Scams, War Casualty, what else?

Have you guys looked at your Bulk Mail in recent times? All those mails you see there, what do you think they are.

Una never even know Steve Comisar wey dey prison dey serve sentence for Fraud, still throw format from Prison and catch Maga. Abeg Nigeria, una still be "Omomo" for corruption.

Una no know the level of corruption wey the italian, russian and chinese Mafia dey contribute, drug dealing, money laundering even up to the entertainment industry. Please, Nigeria is still a foetus where Baba like America and Phillipines (where $3billion of GDP annually is from online scams) dey. We still be sperm.

But Nigeria dey try small, small. Just while I was typing this document, one yahoo boy was trying to scam me, and just as Jojo is in this forum posting, her "man" has already "romance-scammed her.

Apologies for my humour, Jojo. I was only trying to say that there has never been a general information phone number at Lagos airport to the best of my knowledge and for as long as I can remember. On the internet you may be able to get contact details regarding the Lagos office of the airline about whose flights you seek information.

Jojo, you have got to be joking.   Are you seriously expecting to be able to phone Lagos Airport for information ?  Might I suggest that you will stand a better chance of communicating with Lagos Airport if you start a fire and attempt to send smoke signals, or alternatively acquire a talking drum and try some serious Morse Code drumming late at night when ambient noise levels are low.  Please keep me posted.  I am anxious to know which mode of communication works for you.

Only 50 years ago, you would have to stand up for a white man to seat in a bus in America, but that is the same place you are running to now. Well, in those days, the Americans (blacks) stood up for their country and defended it, they did not leave their country and vow never to return!

I am speaking from experience, I can give you more than five occasions that we have been victimized in Nigeria, I have people in the state that I look up to that promised never to go back to Nigeria because of the way they were treated while visiting home. Prime example, A good friend of mine playing in the NFL Kalu, Ndukwe was shot last summer when he came home cause he refused to give in to extortion. Go back and read my script, I go to Nigeria frequently, and I love My country. I've said it over and over again, not all Nigerians are bad, quit taking my words out of context.

Please neither myself nor any other person in this forum has insuanted that there are no problems great challenges in that country.  I tell you, I lament deeply in my heart when I go out of the country and see where we should have been.  But to speak in such a way such that when  a foreigner who listens to you will think that every Nigerian he/she meets in the street wants bribe is utter nonsense. If you are in doubt of what i just said, go oover your posts carefully and listen to the tone of your posts.  Not every Nigerian takes bribe, not every Nigerian asks for one and not every Nigerian will think of any corrupt act of corrupt tendencies.  I am still aware of many people who goes back to pay a bus conductors when that conductor fails/forgets to ask for transport fare. I have walked into Nigerian banks for various reasons and did not get to pay any one. I am sure those who want to beat the queue bribe their way to get in front of other people. If you ever did that, then you are the one (not Nigerians) who is corrupt. When we leave Nigeria, we suddenly become sane  to obey traffic laws and not give/take bribes. So it is us to change, but we prefer to flout the rules when we are in our own country and come around to say that Nigerians are corrupt...that is not nice.

Galala leave all this people to think what they want, I don't care if you associate with crooks or not as a Nigerian, I deal with this issues in the professional world every day. My father is a prominent Nigeria and hold one of the key sensitive position in Nigeria today, we talk just about everything, and take it how you like it. A Thief will never admit he is a thief, to him he is just trying to survive. and you are not a criminal until you are caught. Not all Nigerians are criminals But go to the bank, or any government building in Nigeria for a simple service. No one will look at you if you are not greasing palm. as soon as you offer some monetary benefit, they will call you OGA MAKE I HELP you. I had an Immigration officer at the airport told me once my passport is fake, but after I told him who my father was, He shook his head in disbelieve and said he was only joking, if public official can exhibit this kind of attitude what makes you think Nigerians are not bad, True I LOVE MY COUNTRY AND I WILL DIE A NIGERIA. I just hope people will change and stop giving us the hard working class a bad name is all i am saying.

Have u asked yourself what the population is in Burkina Faso and Mali? Is it not considerate to factor that into why a country should be free from crime and social vices? We should rather seek ways to positively improve improve security issues in Nigeria especially when the Nation is gradually learning how to creep again. We are in such a hurry and lay blame and treat the nation and everyone with such sarcasm and disdain. It took several years for South Africa to be where they are today, they went through pains and sufferring.  The same can be said of Britain, America, China etc...  The truth that you need to ask yourself is 'how am I contributing to the sanity of our community'? Have many secret cult memebers do you know of and have not told the authority, how many armed robbers do you know of and yet eat from their spoils? In countries like Britain, everyone is just the same as the police.in my country Nigeria, it is must never be because the person belongs to the same tribe, community or family with you...

Question: Are Nigerians Corrupt ?

Answer: YES.

Question: Are Nigerians the Most Corrupt People In the World?

Answer: NO! We are corrupt, granted, but not the most corrupt!

@Jojo, It takes roughly about 2 days to get from Nigeria To Cananda, but I think you should ask Scorpio for exact details. She lives in Canada.

A part of the Nigerian problem is our self denial. In 1987 as a young lawyer in Lagos i had an argument with the female clerk in court who hissed at me because i did not leave her the change left over after paying court fees. Her attitude was like that of most people in both the public and private sector. Gross and perverse greed coupled with a lack of morals and respect for self. For our information there is the physical corruption we know involved in bribe taking and giving but what of the moral corruption which has meant that our people are living in a false world. where everyone is out to cheat the other , where husband and wife deceive each other while publicly professing their undying love for each other, where most girls have to sleep their way to economic survival and where we still think it is OK to have servants slaving over us. Burkina faso is one of the poorest countries in the world. Ditto Mali . yet crime is relatively rare in those countries. a people without dignity and pride in themselves who refuse to invest in their children will lose their wealth and their honour and finally their freedom.

@goodguy tell me one plan you got to make Nigeria better, i was making sense before try reading and understanding what people write!

Without the government there is not much you can do. You gon pay the salaries of all d workers? Or provide gas for every vehicle? We just gotta try to support the governmnt. Or try voting for better leaders! And pray to God to make it better. Nigerians are not the most corrupt people!

nigeria is really corrupt but not that much

i mean the international guys make it sound like

Nigeria is the gate of Hell.

itz not

foreign countries are corrupt too i mean

corruption is everywhere

itz just that naija guys r wise and fast

so corruption coupled with wisdom

is the beginning of Hell.

@goodguy i was actually trying not to mention a name but i wasn't talking to u aight? so go take a chil pill. i only came to d state like 3yrs ago so i know wat i'm talking about. and i did read d post maybe u shouldry reading mine cuz it wasn't dirscted to u.

about d Nepa thing it's called electricity bill everybody has to pay one of those. i ain't saying Nigeria is not corrupted but why all d fuss. yal should try leaving it alone cuz if nigeria was human it's gon be one unhappy and frustrated one i'm sure it would have commited suicide by now. yall should stop seeing d bad about it. wt exactly have any of uall done to stop it?

@odeku tell me  didn't just callme boo like u talking to a 2yr old? u know with all d experience u got tell me 5 positive things about Nigeria? my felw Nigerians? they r ur fellow nigerians too. maybe yall know lots of corrupt peope cuz u associate with them. i'm not saying Nigerians r not corrupt. of cuz they r but not most of them!!!!! so yall shouldstop twisting my words to suit u!!!!!

if d poor demand it they gotta have sumthing on d rich then like some dirty secret they don't want exposed. d main prob is d governmnet not d people. if d government would pay d police salary on time they won't be on d street demanding money 4rm d bus drivers.

i've walked isale eko and none of my stuff was stolen. maybe u've just been not so very lucky to meet d good guyz. hello who r u to judge people DAT they can't change. if everybody is given a second chance or an opportunity to change 4 d better i know DAT more dan half will take d chance. do u really think they wanna commit those crimes i ain't talking about d rich kids who r so spoil and lack parental care that they result to crimes just to go against there parents and get attention. most of d poor peeps wanna havetheir own money and be able 2 do their own thing. that don't justify them though. u do know dat d people who offer bribes r part of d people corrupting d country. if d rich peeps don't offer bribes then d poor ones who collect them won't be able to thereby stoping another form of corruption. I'm no trying to discriminate or noting but if d rich peeps will stoping thinking they r above d law then most of d crimes in Nigeria will go down. who goes to Oluwole in d first place I'm sure it's not some poor peeps who don't have money to feed his family not to talk of buying travelling papers.

if u have Ur grade u gon get to college. All my friendz r in college and they didn't grease any elbow. d onez dat didn't get in 4 one reason or d other waited and sat 4 d exam again d next year dats not to say people people don't buy results.

who's gon pay 250,000 to get to college? not some poor dude 4 sure. so most of d crimes rest with d rich folks. Now is majority of Nigerians criminals? nope!!!!! d minority r!!!! All d Nigerians I've met r nice people who've never committed no crime if u don't count d silly stuff they did as kids which is normal 4 all kids at their age.

@odeku have u had d oppoutunity to meet half of d total population in Nigeria?

Abeg my brother we on the same page people say we are not corrupt, but you cant get a job or go to college with out greasing someones palm. things like that don't happen in the state. you want to host a party, you have to bribe NEPA, you go to bank and they tell you the bank is out of money, but if you bribe the teller, you will get your money with no qualms.

MR omon you are in UK right? do you know that most Nigerians that are been sought for drug trafficking and 419 relocate to ENGLand and CANADA? just because you are not a socialist doesn't mean this problem don't exist. this are facts and Next time you travel to Nigeria, go for a walk and come back to this forum and tell your experience. Criminal are every where you go in the world not just Nigeria, but the Nigerians criminals are more active and fearless and brutal. Only In Nigeria can your traveling document be stolen and you can go to OLUWOLE and buy it back. I travel to Nigeria at least 4 times a year, and I am opportune to have the luxury of security guards. as soon as you get out of MURITALA INTERNATIONAL: AIRPORT IN LAGOS the experience begins.

If there are more 'bad Nigerians' than the good ones, then i don't have to go to OSHODI for my purse to be stolen. I can as well be anywhere in the country and not even trust you Odeku nor my bros and sisters. It is easy to exaggerate things and say whatever we wish. The indices used for these ratings are never absolute. The Indian traders that manufactures fake drugs and sell to countries in Nigeria are not part of that indices. These guys are as well corrupt. In my opinion, apart fom the guys that Odeku knows and in contact with, majority of Nigerians are good and nice. I have plenty of friends all over the globe (Nigerians), 99.99% of them are not corrput.
