Ribadu As The New Inspector General Of Police, What Do You Think?

Ribadu has been promoted rapidly to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and may replace Ehindero. If this happens how do you think his performance will be like.

I am not advocating that Ribadu should be made IG by the next Government cos personally I think that will only shorten his lenght of service to the country, However will like to tackle your issue of experience. The traits of the Nigerian police is one of Inefficiency, mediocrity or corruption. Experience being number of years one has put in something, then I think the experience of those that have run our dysfunctional police is not something to be desired.

@McKren

Ribadu came across as a very intelligent and articulate guy, not someone that is just pushed around by the president as some people like to think. He showed that he has passion for our country and i personally think his promotion to AIG was well deserved.

its a good video but RIbadu is not exposed enough and does not have the experience to lead such a dynamic force

Rottweiler I am not a Cop. or ex policemen. I have verse knowledge of the police force as a previous member of the police affairs. FCT Boss is a commissioner of police. he was a and still is a commissioner of police when RIbadu was ACP. his name is ALOBI, you can google that.

I can't really say much.

Ribadu from my own perspective is dancing to the tune of Obsanjo. He is not a man of his own agenda, that’s why we still have a lot of corrupt people in the government today.

Obasanjo from what I think is using him as a weapon for his enemies.

I don’t think such a man is fit to be the inspector general of the Nigeria police force.

@ MAJAMAJA

I suspect that you are/were a policeman. You mentioned the FCT commissioner of police as performing excellently and also Ribadu's senior. The man is a COP and Ribadu an AIG. He can only be Ribadu's senior by way of enlistment date. If Ribadu is made IG, then all his so called seniors will be retired. We need younger people at the helms of affairs. We don't need those that don't even know the DOB. NAFDAC has a young person and she's performing, CBN too, EFCC, NDLEA, Governor Duke etc. We don't need any old, disillusioned, pot-bellied, archaic leader any more.

Can you list their names please?

That maybe true but, the job of the FCT commissioner is not as dangerous, political (this being Nigeria), or nowhere near as important as Ribadu's job in Nigeria today. And I think you'll find the commissioner himself will accept this fact. It is not as easy as simple semantics. you have to look at the political backdrop Ribadu has to work in. As such, I think the promotion is justified and of course you can already see people trying to politicize his promotion.

Of course, no one is saying those commisioner's or other members of the force are not working hard. It's just that the type of job Ribadu is doing generates huge amount of media and public interest. Therefore he will have more of the limelight. That's the way it goes.

I don't know about that, I can list 4 commissioners of police that are performing above expectation. what do you say to people like ALOBI the FCT police boss who senior Ribadu in all aspect of the force. can you convice a guy like that or boost his moral to be loyal to his junior? The promotion in my opinion is unjust and I wish Ribadu the best of luck.

Batu in simple word I think your parents should have taken the alternative B plan and save us the agony of listening to your childish barbaric abuse.  please take your medication.

For the iintelligent people who recalled what hhappened during Musiliu Smith. he was double promoted to the post of IGP and in less than 6 months his people were not loyal to him and went on a nation wide strike and the next thing we know he was out like a toilet paper and Tafa balogun was appointed, we learned a very important lesson and history should not repeat itself. Ribadu can wait to be the future IGP but definitely not now. I bet several police officers are not happy with his promotion they are all serving the same government and why is he getting the presidential treatment? is OBJ trying to butter RIbadu to save his Bottom from investigation after the presidency?

Batu. quit the brickbat. It would be nice to have Ribadu as the IGP- he would be a breath of fresh air; I'm sure the Police would be the better for it.

Fineboy, nigeria should discard this archaic type of promotion in the service and encourage merit. High performers should be encouraged and promoted as recognition for their performance. While I agree with mamajama that it may be difficult to make Ribadu the IGP but then if only wishes were horses, sure would love to see him as the top cop in the land. The guy is good

I think its good to appreciate good work, but I dont think Ribadu deserves the promotion now. In 2002 when he assumed office as the EFCC Chairman, he was an ACP, going by the minimum of three years stipulated for promotion to next cadre, by 2005 he suppose to be DCP, 2008 he supose to be CP, 2011 he suppose to be AIG, why promoting him to AIG now? Obasanjo sees himself as all in all, Yes an AIG can be promoted to IG, all OBJ has to do is to retire all his seniors that was what was done for Tafa Balogun. This is absolute nonsense.

@attack-dog mamajama/majamaja,

If your indolent mind will recall, you started the insults. You might just have forgotten due to short-term amnesia with the kind of demented mind you have. Read the post, who said Ribadu should be the next IG?. My point is he will make a better IG than your present equally moronic uncle. You can't see the difference because of your 'attack dog' approach!

So with all the pointless questions you asked; are those suppose to be evidence that you know how the police run? That's why I said you're probably a dismissed civil defense corps member, trying to be in the know. Maybe you should go to your father backhome to get better understanding; that is if he knows better which is quite unlikely.

When you will not read and understand due to your indolent 'bingo' mentality, how will you not jump and write nonsense.

Onyi'ara!

batu i can start trading words or insult with you all day, it wont solve the issue at hand. When novice like

you just start talking about security or police organization without any familiarity of how the organization

works makes me sad. Beside EFCC what do you know about RIBADU? please tell me what do you know about efcc?

where does efcc gets most of its personnel from? how are they funded and who provide transportation for

EFCC. Who appoint the IGP of the federation and what are the criteria for an IGP to be appointed, do your

home work and you will know why RIbadu will not be the next IG. they OBJ can cook the book all he wants.

the next president will appoint the next IG. it is so funny you calling me a majamaja and you can't even get

close to tie my shoes. Jigga man said shake dem haters off, if you only knew. RIBADU IS A GOOD COP and

his appointment as the next IGP will cause nothing but problem that will supersede RIBADU, there is a

difference between a caretaker and a landlord. DUH What happened to Musiliu Smith? can you recall or

were you still a baby clinging to your saggy moms bosoms when the event took place?

I dont get it, we are practicing presidential system of government and any proposition or policy made by the president if accepted by the legislature it becomes law.

We have simply gone mad in this country.

Whoever wakes up they begin to define democracy and rule of law as they so wish.

@MAMAJAMA;

Going by your name which sounded more like MAJAMAJA meaning "someone who catches a dog", I am not surprised at your rudimentary attack-dog mentality. Shows the kind of canine company you keep. So what else do you know about the police?, maybe you are a retired police rank and file or a low level security guard, you've not shown or stated any thing of intelligence. So, what is wrong in Ribadu taking credit for job-well done by any organisation he heads; if the organisation mess up, wont he also take the blame?. That is part of the responsibilities of leadership. He has managed to achieve in the EFCC by carrying subordinates along, and he can do better as head of police force than your equally indolent uncle. You are not making any sense because you don't have much of it anyway.

Mumu dog catcher!!

This promotion shows another inconsistence and recklessness on the part of Obasanjo. It also goes to showcase that Ribadu has been a bulldog used to hound the percieved enenies of the president.

Promotions within the rank is supposed to undertaken by the police commision board and not arbitarily by the president. what this creates is discordant in the ranks and could actually create a hostile working environment for Ribadu. It only goes further to showcase the illegality and lack for the rule of law of our president.

batu you are a fool for talking on issues you have no idea about.  what do you know about police operation beside what you read in the news paper? we teach our children to be better than us, as for RIBADU. Who is RIBADU without the support of his subordinate? can a tree make a forest? RIBADU is getting all the credit, does he goes and make the arrest personally? there are people working just as hard as RIBADU to clean this country and they should be recognizedas well. DUH

and so what? The reason the present IG "taught, bossed and encouraged" Ribadu is for Ribadu to be better than him. And in fact he is better than Ehindero and actually more relevant to the progress of Nigeria than Ehindero whose major achievement is to talk louder than action,,,,,,, and maybe changing the police uniform.

Ribadu as the IG will be a good thing for the nation.

He does not have to be DIG he can be double promoted to the post. but he is not the next IG people stop dreaming. did you know the present IG taught RIBADU in police staff college when he enlisted?

did you know the present IG was RIBADU boss as a prosecutor? Did you know the poresent IG encourage RIbadu and co to be a lawyer?

i think he has to be a Deputy Inspector General before he can be illegible for the post of an IG
