Was Bakassi Sold or Just a Gift to Cameroun?

by Emeka Esogbue –

I am neither from Cross-River nor Akwa-Ibom states but as a Nigerian which I am shall always remain eternally grateful to Olusegun Obasanjo and Bola Ajibola, a duo of two Yoruba who as an act magnanimity either sold or presented our own Bakassi peninsular as a gift to Cameroun. As I write this piece, I express my bitterness on this very matter

because in history no elder statesman for any reason will display such an unpatriotic willingness to part with the territory of his or her country. This team, which also comprised of Chief Richard Akinjide has since seen the man (Richard Akinjide) regretting the action of Obasanjo pointing it out as one of the wrongs done by this man to his nation.

Suffice it then that the people of Bakassi were either not considered important to Nigeria as a nation or there were just certain things known to Obasanjo and Ajibola outside the knowledge of Nigerians, all of these things are still shrouded in mystery. Surely our leaders are incapable of protecting us. The focus of this article is that very aspect of the foreign policy of Obasanjo pertaining to Bakassi peninsular.

Bakassi can be likened to Obasanjo as June 12 is to Babangida. June 12 however became more prominent because the Bakassi are minorities with almost nobody to advocate or fight their cause in the political entity called Nigeria. It remains the biggest injustice Obasanjo perpetuated on Nigeria. Obasanjo swore to the oath of allegiance to protect the territory of Federal Republic of Nigeria thereby upholding the constitution of the country but he would readily and weakly fail in this.

Obasanjo and Bola Ajibola provided the platform under which the territory of our nation was given out to France and Cameroun, an act only as good as condemnably obnoxious because it led to the denial of Nigerian citizens. The whole drama was set out to please Britain, France and Cameroun by Obasanjo and Ajibola for the reasons not yet disclosed to Nigerians.

I am Yoba and I am against OBJ and his boys ceeding Bakassi to Cameroun. You have to understand some Yobas are good and some Yobas are incurable devils. I lament for the Bakassi people.

You are not more than a housefly. Next time you bundle you lazy Bottom to the internet make sure you conceptualize your thoughts before audaciously flaunting your ignorance in public arena.

@ode remo

If the little scoundrel had comported him/her self and showed a sense of magnanimity when responding to posts, there will be no diatribe directed at his/her corner.

My point has proven that you are a disgusting pollutant on the Internet. I have had an enjoyable life on earth more then you can dream. If you were part of human nature, I had worn you as slipper.

At least your dumb scull had forced you to visualize that I could be a grandpa which removes me from your mates of rooster suckers. You will end your miserable life on earth without attending the age of 30. Do you mean passing a point to a dolt like you?

Is your point proven? I bet you are of age to be a grandpa. Your bitter lifestyle has gotten you nothing but to resort to a forum and insult people who won't agree with your points. Can't you pass a point without insults?. What has all those statements proven so far? It proves nothing but the fact that you are angry and bitter.

Please folks I demand that someone grab this deranged Osaka swine and shove its dirty Bottom back into the holding pen. From your dilapidated posts, it is clearly evidential that you can not string two correct sentences together.

I shall not dump blames on your parents but on the unconditional privileges and rights of passage to a public arena that the Internet has granted to the moronic jackass like you.

Since you are very allergic to old age, I pray that your miserable carcass will be buried before the age of 34.

Instead of stumbling to the internet with your epileptic brain in order to flaunt your ever-flowing ignorance, you could plead with decent beings to lead you by your dirty nose to the library so that you can read-up. What a domesticated zombie?

Typical of you biafra war mongers to not have a valid point except to insult those who won't support their theories. How old are you? I'm sure you are around 34 and above. Is this all you can say? Just to prove what? Go with your negativity abeg!!! Cyber thug at 36 years old !!!!

For a demented dullard like you to spew that Biafra never existed showed that your parents wasted serious time of parenting or lack therefore on you. I still could not fathom the reason why the low-lifer in you would be twisted out of human form just for hearing Biafra. The present situation of Bakassi is the callous machination of your imbecilic forbearers who thought that the patched-up work and delusional one-Nigeria farce must be achieved at all cost.

I am not surprised that a loudmouthed nincompoop like you wrote that you hated old people. Maybe you hated your parents who endeavored to give birth to a classic human waste of your kind. There is no doubt that they would have been in a settled mind if they had donated the spam and egg that metamorphosed into a drooling maggot like you.

How did a lamb dung of you caliber stumbled into a word; shame? It is only in your non-existential world that a piece of dirt like you would experience the sense of shame. The geographical expression called Nigeria is an idiotic colonial contraption while Biafra was a nation founded by indigenous people.

Damnit!! have you no sense at all? How is Bakasi a biafra problem? How? We are talking about Nigeria and this is a Nigerian forum not a biafra haven. biafra does not exist, never existed and will never exist. I hate some old people. I bet these biafra ranters are like 41, 32 and so on by age. You don't see young Nigerians crying out biafra, they are enjoying Nigeria. Even though she's not all that, they believe she'll reach greatness.

It's a shame that we lost Bakasi just like that considering that the people were removed from the land. Stop blaming Nigeria, blame Nigerians. Nigeria is just a name.

Nigeria govt are too generous, thats why they gave the bakasi to our fellow brothers in cameroon. think of  our abudant resources so bakasi is just a minor gift. But the govt are not that genrous to the citizen. Nigeria govts are just like touch light that bringthness to others but it can't see the darkness behind itself. Naija in liberia, sirea leone, dafur and giving millions to the burmanese govt but it citizen are suffering.

Why can't you critic of Biafran for ONCE in your lives move beyond this intellectual laziness that has taken us no where. As far you people are concerned, Biafra was fought because of War.

Anyway this is not about Biafra. This is about our "Nationalist" so sold our piece of land to a foreign country in the most silly and callous way. My heart bleed for these hapless people.

Well your wit has obviously been blinded so much that you live in a fantasy land- biafra that it. Reasoning with you wouldn't be any different from trying to enlighten one down with psychic torture.

Again read your question "how can ur country be fighting for it to be ONE yet easily give up a part of it."

I don't entirely support the ceding of the peninsula, but roping in a non-existing biafra, into an international legal process on a border dispute prompts me to question your sanity. The same thoughtless bunch would have rung bells on the streets if Nigeria had jumped the international court ruling and triggered a war. You would have wailed that Nigeria refused to be mature enough to give up the little region because of its abundant oil.

I won't exchange words with you anymore; its not worth it. Obtuse incorrigible cynics.

You just keep wallowing in self hate, and continue justifying your mess with "if only"s. I'm not Nigeria so don't direct your rage at me like a 12 year old. I'll make the best of wherever I find myself rather than blame Nigeria for every flu and make irrational vindications for my penury.

And read your post again to see if it is at all logical

"U fought so hard to keep the East yet u gave up part of the East without the consent of those ppl to keep what? OIL"

And u are the biggest joke.

fool. Coward nation. U fought so hard to keep the East yet u gave up part of the East without the consent of those ppl to keep what? OIL

We all know if Bakassi ppl were Yoruba or Hausa they won't be sold out like that.

It is quite a fact that Bakassi was given to Cameroon by Nigeria inorder to defeat Biafra. Any easterner Ibibio, Igbo, Ijaw, Ogoni who thinks Nigeria got respect for him is A FOOL. Look at our troubled history within that entity.
