Muhammadu Buhari is one of the leaders that influenced life of every Nigerian citizen. He may not be a saint and many people suffered from his decisions. Nevertheless, he stands his ground and may take responsibility for his actions. For many Nigerians, Buhari is a folk hero that obtained necessary qualities of a leader through his life. Buhari place of Birth
Future general was in a small town Daura of Katsina State on 17th of December 1942. He was not an only child in his family. His father has many kids, and Buhari was only twenty-seconds. From the early age, the boy`s life was not easy. He had to struggle for the attention of parents with his other siblings. Nevertheless, his mother was a true hero to bring the necessary child education. His first schooling years started in his hometown. He entered secondary school at Katsina. He was not a perfect child for sitting around and study, but teachers acknowledged that he had capabilities for a fast-learner.
Politics of Buhari
General Buhari used to be a governer for several Northern states during a reign of Obasanjo`s Government. He was also a head minister that was responsible for petroleum industry before military service as head of state. He might have bad luck with president elections as he failed to become one in 2003, 2007 and 2011. He was part of the successful military coup in 1983 where he managed to overthrow Nigerian Elected President Shehu Shagari. It seems that in his early military career he was quite a devil for gathering companions against regimes. Nevertheless, some of his ideas were successful, and people tried to be closer to him for that.
Buhari seems to have no particular loyalty to religion at all. He tried to gain votes of Muslims and even supported the ideas of Sharia. Nevertheless, the idea of gaining support from Muslims went wrong with continuance accumulation of Muslims power and fading the power of Buhari. That was the reason why he tried to find refuge in hands of Christians. He even exempts Christians from duties on Sundays. That was unwelcomed by Muslims, who also desired to gain their day-off. General Buhari claims that he stands for free religion choice, but it seems that the general is loyal to a faith that provides more benefits.
It is one of the cruelest problems of every economy, especially developing the economy. General Buhari saw the core issue of corruption only in his enemies. Shagari`s government was filled with corruptive ministers and authorities, but it seems that instead of cleaning corruption he just replaced previous corruptors with his men. It`s true that he run an anticorruption campaign but in that crusade many innocent people suffered and the prosecutors were a lack of evidence of crimes. Despite that, Buhari commanded to jail all individuals who suspected in corruption, some of them even without proper trials.
Buhari married at the first time in 1971. His first wife`s name is Safinatu, who was also the first lady of Nigeria from 1983 to 1985. She presented him with five children, one boy, and four girls. The firstborn daughter was named after Buhari`s mother, Zulai. Buhari and Safinatu divorced in 1988. Year after that, Buhari found another wife Aisha Buhari, who still poses his heart. She also gave him five children. Unfortunately, his first wife died in 2006 from the long war with diabetes. A few years ago, Buhari`s first daughter also died from sickle cell anemia. Her last minutes of life were in Kaduna hospital.
Buhari might not be the greatest person but certainly, due to his principles, he is a man to be respected. He has many friends and no less enemies due to his political career.
