He was born in 1962. Saraki's father was also a politician, who was a senator between years 1979 and 1983 and onetime Senate Leader of Nigerian Federal Republic.
His political career started in 2000, when he was appointed Special Assistant to the President on Budget by Olusegun Obasanjo. Besides, he was a member of Economic Policy Coordination Committee. In 2003, he became Kwara’s state Executive Governor (being a member from PDP). In 2007, Bukola became Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum.
He has been elected as a governor for two times. After this, he decided to run for Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria office. He represented Kwara Central Senatorial District. He actually won the elections. Later, in 2015, he was reelected.
