Why Can't The Nigerian Government Donate To The Haiti Earthquake Victims?

I have been following the events of the unfortunate disaster that took place in Haiti; a lot of countries and even corporate and private firms have been assisting in both material aid or cash donations. But Nigeria is yet to do the same. I think the Federal Govt should make their own contributions even if it is $10,000. At least nothing is small and we can afford it! Haba!!

A country where over 65% of its population live on less than 1$ a day, donate to another country??

The right question should be why arent all these churches donating to the haitians?? Afterall they are supposed to be a charity organization.

I don't think so. This are funds which will be meant for helping people in disaster. Honestly, i feel sorry for those people cos what i am seeing on TV is really pathetic; over a 100,000 people perished. Think of what it will look like if (God forbid) a state or two in this country is hit by a 7.5 earthquake and you or me lives, works and earn a living there only to lose every thing including loved ones or family members within a twinkle of an eye.
