Would U Support The Kidnapping/killin Of Politicians Children In Nigeria?

So as to teach them a lesson? That even though they themselves can eat of the national cake, their own children will never live to enjoy it,

I just heard the story of an akwa ibom senator who's daughter of 19 years was kidnapped, she was then Molested repeatedly and untop of that the kidnappers asked for 10 million naira. After gettin the money, they Molested her again and killed her. Then told her parents where to come and collect her. THe parents came expectin to see their daughter alive, but she was maimed and dead on a kentro level.

It just got me thinking sha, these kidnappin business is a horrific business. But @ the same time, it might present a good oppurtunity to change Naija without tomuch bloodshed. if the Offsprings of the politicians who are corrupt get kidnapped and killed, wouldn't that in some fashion force the politicians to act right, so as not to lose their children? Think about it? As hillary clinton said, never let a good crisis go to waste.

Even the holy humble bible said that the sins of the fathers visits the children. And when u put the atrocities of nigerian leaders into practical perpectives as regards how it affects the common man,it is simple a crime against humanity and what could be worst  that?

That is why our people traditionally check out families before marraiges are undertake, for fear of inherited curse and tribulations. Background checks.

The evil that men do,lives after them.

Maybe i am wrong but i took the title and the first post of the thread as a satire. Have you read "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift? He talks about killing and eating children in order to alleviate their burden on their poverty stricken comment. It was a satire on how the poor where being treated in Ireland and the silly solutions that society at that time were coming up with. Its main goal was to start conversation.

I read Enziga's post like that. But trust Nigerians to bring in God into the matter, lol

@ the Giant of Africa comment.

Regardless of the original intent, when Nigerians say it, we say it as a show off thing. Maybe "show off" is too harsh a word. I'll say intense Pride. I say it also to non-Nigerians and of course it would be met with resentment.

@the Delta issue

Yes i personally do not see a problem with that (i am from Delta also, the non-oil part, lol). But remember Saro-Wiwa tried the non violent approach and look at what happened to him, and he did not get far with it. There are somethings in life only violence can resolve. I dont know if this is one of them but its getting to that point. Violence should be a last resort but i am scared we are running out of options.

There is no such thing as “free” government except in meaningless philosophical debate so it is obvious I did not mean that but thank you for drawing my attention to the mistake.

I do not know why you brought this up but for your information, I’m not in the least interested in tags such as “Giant of Africa” or Ghana. However, I have noticed that, this particular thing seem to bother many so called “Nigerians” on this and many other discussion boards. You only have to read a little and sooner or later someone comes up with a statement similar to 'we keep calling ourselves Giant of "Africa" when we’re not' and then the next thing, “look at south Africa, look at Kenya, see how great they are” etc etc. Therefore as a Nigerian let me inform the many jealous and envious none Nigerians on the board that the phrase originally- and this is only my opinion – was born out of Nigeria’s misguided sense of Black and Africa Pride. During the era of Rhodesia and South Africa and Oil wealth, when Nigeria was very active in the fight against apartheid, Giant of Africa Tag was in part a counter to the negative image of Africa as a continent of helpless nations. Flushed with oil wealth and a realisation that Nigeria needed a foreign policy, which reflected its beliefs, Giant of Africa served as a warning to the world outside that Africa was henceforth to be reckoned with because Africa had in Nigeria a nation that could fight back in some senses.  “Giant of Africa” was not meant, as a “show-of thing” so please all you narrow minded none Nigerians out there; please take it easy, we meant no harm. You are all welcomed to the tag.  Ghana, Somalia, Kenya South Africa, Togo you’re all Giant of Africa O.K.

If someone were to ask me what I want for the future of Nigeria, apart from the usual things that fall under the tag Development, it would be for a united Nigeria and a policy focused on Nigeria and not on Africa. I am in a sense not good for Africa. If I had my way, all none Nigerians, if possible, would be expelled from Nigeria and we’d spend all our energy and finances on Nigeria. This is going to sound terrible but if I am honest, I do not much care about the rest of Africa.

I am from Delta. Personally, I don’t mind all Nigeria benefiting from oil wealth. However, the cost to the environment in Delta from the discovery and exploitation of oil has been high. My personal belief is that Nigeria should make the Delta area a sort of protectorate, give it some sort of dispensation, carry out a form of Marshal Plan for the area. Nigeria should make it a goal, with the consent of the indigenes, to Dubianise the Delta. As a Deltan, I would find it more helpful if  all the people who seem so concerned about our plight, start criticising the Government in this direction instead of encouraging armed conflict in our region which does nothing for us but serve only to further their interest in a division of the county along ethnic lines.

Having stated all that, I still say a post like this, whose effect might be to encourage people to kidnap and kill Politician and their children, is disgraceful. It is very Un-Nigerian and ought to be deleted.

@Enziga, there is no need to kill the kids. Especially if they have not done anything. Kill the politicians and leave everyone out of it

@ Poster,

I agree up to some extent with your radical treatment to modify our political / corrupt spree environment. However instead of killing their children, why not start with them? Let the revolution start with the finger that commits the corrupt practice so that they would not take other innocent lives along with them.

Yep tunku, some of them politicians will definitely be able to sacrifice their own kids and family without battin an eye.

How then do you get to such a person? But look @ it this way, not all politicians are willin to sacrifice their families, maybe just 5 of them @ the most.

Get 15 families dead and u'll see change by force. I mean everyone is snortin their noses @ the bloodshed but this is so far the easiest way to get change withour resort to civil war or mass bloodshed.

@ Courage

there are some politicians who are not even scared to die in that field, because they know the risk. I believe that a man's true weakness should be exploited and for most of them their weaknesses are their love for their families, Eliminate their families and their morality will come back home straight.

Yes, kill them all and let God sort them out. Unfortunately who would do this without hate in their heart? Japan had something similar under the shogunate where the families of vassal lords were held captive in the capitol city by the shogun. Why can't the people who didn't "select" this jokers hold their families hostage at the end of an AK? Sure you feed them, let them go about their business(under close scrutiny), and never let them leave the state or area of representation as long as that family member is "servin, ", who are we kidding, LORDING it over the people. There is a difference between this and kidnapping them for ransom. I am sure that this system would make these asses accountable to the people. But then again this bastards aren't above sacrificing anyone, not even their own kids, for power. If you live or have lived in Nigeria and this is the most disgusting idea to ever furrow your brow in disgust then you my friends are detached from reality.

What are we doing in ours? Character ko, character ni. Go tell the poor man in the street that his nation has character and he'll tell u. Na character man pikin go chop?? People are going hungry and starvin and ur here talkkin about "character", Dude just because u live a good life, does not mean u should be blinded to what people back home are suffering from.

I am not even advocatin that we kill every politician, just that we target the ones we all know a hundred percent are corrupt to their very soul, People like babangida, Baba OBJ, etc abound. People always grow coldfeet when it comes to revolutionary talk, But everyone has a theory for how to save naija with no blood shed. But for a good 40 years now, nothing has changed.

@Enziga

I have heard people say for Nigeria to be helped, everyone over 40 years old should be killed. I think that and your suggestion is too drastic as usual. Maybe killing only the corrupt leaders themselves. Yea you are saying they have killed families and so on. But you dont sink to the level of your oponent because at the end of the day there will be no way to tell the difference between you and them.

Remember

That is a beautiful story, you should take up work in the Fiction writing industry. If you write a book, i will be first in line to get it.

The reality is that communities of people have been tormented in the Niger-Delta area for decades. Their oil is being taken from them and used to fund the whole nation, i mean the government officials, while they get less than nothing from it. By less than nothing i mean, they lose from it. Their homes, environment, etc, That is only one of our several issues. We call ourselves the Giant of Africa, for what reason? Maybe our population, but thats it. Small Ghana has overtaken.

America does not talk about "free" government, you might have meant to say small government. And that is the republican parties philosophy not all of America's.

There isn't an idea more fanciful than the notion you can progress an African nation, in this current Media Age, through the barrel of a gun.

In my estimation, Nigerians are the freest people in the world today and probably turning out to be the laziest and moaniest. The state and police dose not watch Nigerians or seem to care what they do. Television ownership  has not reached the stage of wide ownership were it can effectively act as  an organ of state control over the lives of the citizens  as it does in Britain and many western democracies. Nigerians do not pay taxes to any conventional extent.  You want material to build something, just go to the local bridge and tear off a railing, want to drive a car, just learn to steer the car straight and wala! You’re a driver. Power is unreliable but many still get what little there is free of charge. People can just erect a shed wherever they like and start trading. No one hurls them up before the public prosecutor for miscellaneous offences such as driving polluting vehicles, urinating or spiting on the road. People are not taxed for ownership of land. In England you are taxed for everything, I have even seen fresh air soled in bottles.  When Americans talk of free government, essentially they mean what you have in Nigeria. They want government to stay out of their lives – sure, take care of the infrastructure, but let me get on with it. If the law cant or want take care of criminality I want the right to bare arms so I can do it myself.  I over simplify but that is the picture.

Nigerians in many instances live in the equivalent of a frontiers environment and in the history of the world; people traditionally create something from nothing, informed by nothing more than imagination,  strength of their character, through sweat and through tears in just such environments. Ordinary Nigerians ought to be encouraged to do what they used to do, which is work hard and be imaginative in order to attain a reasonable, good or excellent standard of life and not encouraged to seek quick fixes through extortion and the barrel of a gun. The history of Africa is one big lesson about the futility of armed struggle. I remember a time when Nigerians often won prizes for furniture making in Italy. You want a tricycle go round to your local woodworker and he’d knock you up one out of wood. Nigerians are the best in arts and craft in Africa .Even in the past the nations that today make up Nigeria produced the most sophisticated artwork in all of Africa. Where are the people who once would have spotted the markets? For example, people who would have created tennis academies in order to exploit the major money to be made from starlets just as John Fashionu tried to do with football academy trials. Where are those people who would once have developed Kai-kai into a marketable brand on the international market? Where are the grape growers to crate a Nigerian wine? Where has all that tradition of hard work, innovation and thrift gone? I recon it has been dashed on the rock of lies that we, who have made it abroad, heap in front of them. We fool them and we fool ourselves in prescribing an idealised West lifestyle portrayed in films and adverts for all Nigerians when in reality the West have not achieved that universal standard for all citizens. If Nigerians back home worked half as hard as we have to work abroad they would gain all those material things that they seem to think is the alpha and omega of life.

As an aside, let me tell the originator of this thread something that he or she either may not know, because he/she is young, not actually Nigerian or embittered by fool notions about what it means to be developed.  Nigeria has reached a stage were it can be said to poses a national character.  I do not believe that Nigerians have yet defined that character; foreigners whose mischiefs are informed often by racial prejudice have only prescribed it for us. Thus, we are thieves and fraudsters accordingly.  Nevertheless, Nigeria does have a character - meaning the people who make up the geographic area, because of proximities and cross-cultural contact – do share a number of values. I cannot kill what it is with one phrase but that character has all of the following in it.  Nigerians are not envious people. Nigerians respect and aspire to traditional African values. Nigerians are hard working. Nigerians value education. Nigerians value respect very highly. Nigerians have an expansive social life.   I know that some will argue that other African share some of the things I mentioned, which is why, if forced to identify characteristics I believe exclusive to Nigerians, I would say Ambitiousness, Kindness and abhorrence to Jealousy. This is why so far the reaction to the proposal of the thread has met with horror.

The above is my experience as a Nigerian I don’t care what anyone says in contradiction or sites as an example to our contrariness.

In the meantime, the thread really should be removed for inciting violence and murder. I believe that if the incitement had been made in reference to white people, the thread would been removed in no time.

I have read this tread with keen intrest, i agree disagree with the poster to some extent while i also agree with him a little. At this stage of our nationhood, we need more than fancy theories to get our nation out of the woods. If you have ever being near or around where this so called rich kids are squandering our money whether here in nigeria or abroad, you will feel like getting a AK-47 and blasting them to hell!

However some of them are just benefciaries of ill gotten wealth without even knowing the effect of such on the generality of Nigerians and hence to some extent are innocent.

We need revolution in this country and in my opinion after Ten years of uninterupted stealing some guys have to leave the stage albirt forcefully.

You can disagree with me!

Why are u blinkin, when it comes to givin the politiicans a taste of their own medicine?

So your impeccable logic is use a crime to solve a crime?

Don’t be naïve all these kidnappers are not doing so for a better Nigeria, what majority of them care for is the ransom, in fact they are corrupting the system more. Nigeria is already on the 10 countries most likely to be kidnapped list. Don’t let make it worse.

if you're not scared to die then I've suggested some ways you can show your "bravery". Otherwise you're a coward of the lowest order.

If the politicians with all their wickedness, didnt kidnap and murder you, then that speaks volumes. If they were really wicked or even just careful, they would track you down for this thread and deal with you. I'm quite sure that would be your own reaction if GOD FORBID you were them.

What i disagree with is the fact that people like you, and any of your disciples, are roaming around freely with no control.

I understand fully well why most ppl will frown @ killing, or even violence. But what other way is there? Nigerians on a normal day are very LAZY people in the sense that we are all for survival. That's why protests and marches won't get us anywhere, everybody is to busy. Am tellin u, just wipe out a good 20 families of 20 carefully selected corrupt politicians.
