Are There Nigerian Towns That Are Relatively Free Of Religious Fanaticism?

Are there any such cities or small towns in Nigeria where the indigenes are relatively tolerant to other people's religious beliefs or non-beliefs? Towns that are relatively free of religious fundermentalism and bigotry where more tolerant folks can coexist without the constant harrassments of religious bigots?

Please, if there are such communities in Nigeria, can you guys give some mentions in here. I am quite interested in such communities because i have no intention of living within religious bigot infested cities for the rest of my life when i get back home. I want a peaceful coexistent with everybody who will accept as a human being while i do the same thing to them. This is very important to me and to all tolerant and peaceful people.

Thanks.

@jagunlabi,

you may really be surprised that you will find more tolerance in northern nigeria among moslems that in southern nigeria among christains.

i say so because i used to live in southern nigeria and christains did not allow me to rest because i am not one of them.

there is no physical violence but you will find your psychic space being invaded all the time with unwanted prayers and people who want to convert you by all means.

it was so bad that my neighbour stopped answering my greetings when she discovered that i was an Eckist and even went ahead to bring her pastor for a midnight prayer to rain prayers on my head and bind and cast me into bottomless pit. throughout the night i could not sleep because of the noise coming from her room. when of course the prayers failed, she started avoiding me but that did not bother me at all.

from morning till night you are bombarded with noise on the streets, noise in public buses and noise in public places and all you keep on hearing is repent or go to hell.

so i left the south and came to the north and since then i have been enjoying myself. moslems do not go out of their way to impose their beliefs on you and there is no preaching noise in public buses. and no noise on the streets.

the only problem with northern nigeria is the occasional riots that occur from time to time and the riots are more of political than religious.

if you will like to stay in nigeria i will suggest Abuja, the capital city for now. there is peace and security in Abuja and none of the annoying religious noises you hear in the south.

none and it is a pity!

Both christian and Islam alike.

An average Nigerian is religiously intolerant.
