Can Any Nigerian Pastor Reject A 10 Billion Naira Bribe ?

I saw a thread asking if a nigerian police can refuse bribe, the answer to that question seems very obvious as 20 naira (roja) bribe is almost an official police culture here in Nigeria, infact very soon it will be included in police gazzete,

But i wondered if there is any sectore in Nigeria where we can get a true civic minded Nigerian who will shun any form of bribe, this broke out an arguement between me and my friend Kelvin who said there is , he said such a person could be found in religious sector, he went as far as mentioning names of natable Nigerian pastors whom he said can reject a bribe, i was almost  convinced by his points as he stressed further that those pastors are already very rich that they can afford to reject a bribe, But our arguement instantly stoped when i asked him what if the amount offered is 10 billion naira,  he simply said " that money  is big  enough to be a strong temptation, but, but, but, but,  i cant realy tell if any Nigerian pastor can reject it"

I am asking everyone here the same question, is there any Nigerian pastor who can stand firmly on the word of God and reject a 10 billion naira bribry offer ?

All men have sinned and come short of the glory of God. That is true of pastors, too. However, those walking in the power of the Holy Spirit and in purity can make right decisions in life. The only way one can refuse the bribe is by having right values in the heart. If money is what you covet, then regardless of your position in the church you would not stand the test. If you understand that there are better treasures than that, then you may not be even tempted at all. So, we all ought to check out hearts and inspect them for having various idols, such as love for money, which is the root of all evil.

Confirmed. Joseph in the bible was able to over temptation of adultery if the spirit of God dwells in any pastor he/she must be able to resist such. The bible says resist the devil and he shall flee from u

i doubt it

Some honest pastors can reject it even though

they need the money so bad.

Don't tempt the pastor because if I were to be offered that amount of money? Only God knows my heart but I hope He forgives me

why no asked can Jesus reject 10 billion naira bribe. Well, if Jesus can do that, it means that Pastors can equally do that. A servant is not greater than the master. He copies his master. (what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul because of 10 billion naira, what shall he give in the exchange of his soul.

So Pastor AIO, The Holy Bible

is now one of those novels one reads

without meditation/interpretation.

So because one calls his pastor Daddy means

he/she has sinned againt Mattew 23:6-10.

Understanding the Bible, U need the Holy Spirit.

Inform me when you have the Holy spirit so that we

could be able to discuss some important issues

without being at loggerheads.

Let me just ask u this question,

What do u call ur old man?

Daddy?

Maybe that will do for now

until u have Holy Spirit!

A pastor can be bribed to exert undue influence on a member or members of his congregation. If for instance the pastor as a Governor or top politician in his congregation he can be bribed to exert pressure on the politician (claiming god sent him) to curry favours and contracts from the politician

Of course, yes. There are pastors that will rebuke any person that makes such offer, my pastor is one, i believe that he has been faced with such in recent times.

The issue of a Nigerian Pastor or indeed any pastor taking a bribe may not arise. Why would one offer a bribe to a pastor? Is the bribe meant to force the pastor to pray for you, or to preach the gospel? Usually bribes are offered to gain undue advantage on something, over others, and against the law, policy or due process.

Maybe we should spend more time projecting ourselves positively in the light of our new branding exercise. Nigeria: Good People. Great Nation.

Read Bible ke, They do , infact they read it more than you and i, that is how they know how to manipulate it, if they interprete it very well, it will run against them in many ways, or do you want people to stop paying tithe, Seed of faith offering, holy tea offering, anointing offering, pastors cunsultations offering ETC if they found out that they are unbiblical,

@pastorAIO

Thanx for that passage, it really speaks volumes of the ignorance in the pentecostal fold who have a penchant for calling their GO, bishop, preacher e.t.c daddy. I never even knew it was against the scriptures. Do this people who claim to be men of god read their bibles at all??

Thank you. I think Jesus was referring to his real followers though (whether they are called christians or not). He tells them not to call anyone father. So why those people refer to him as Daddy, I know not . Perhaps someone is going to come and explain that Daddy doesn't mean father in that sense. I'm still waiting for the Non-Devilish interpretation of that text. What we have now is interpretations from 2 devils. (I hope you don't mind me calling you devil banom, I'll remove it if it offends you).

And for those out there that like to rely on that pathetic excuse that the Devil knows the bible too I would like to remind you that when the devil was quoting scriptures to Jesus Jesus in turn responded with scriptures. So . . . Next time a devil is quoting scripture, you too answer with scripture. Please I need those professing christians to provide me with the scripture that says it is okay for christians to lord it over their fellow christians.

@ Pastor AIO,

From my understanding as a Prophet , i see Jesus advising Nigerians against , 4 million naira Yatch cruising pastors, Private Jet buying pators, Pastors who are adressed as Daddy G O, money and political pastors.

Sorry I didn't realise that this thread had some important points for our edification. excuse my useless and controversial issues. You're right, I was taking things in jest. Sorry, let's get back to the serious issue again.

What I don't get though is why you cannot address anything I've said but rather you have jumped on a tpia bandwagon and start name calling. Babalawo or pagan is not bad, but I prefer Devil. Since I quote bible with devil's interpretation. But I still need to know what that Devil's interpretation that I gave is.

It is precisely for such inanity that I leave the term christian to you.

@Pastor AIO

Now i see the problem u've been having with tpia. U are nothing but a pagan, u are nothing short of a babalawo. I am not suprised, even the devil quotes the bible but again d difference is in their interpretation just like d one you gave above. Whats d point you were trying to make above? You just like bringing up useless and controversial issues dat have no bearing on this thread. Just try starting up ur own thread and see if anybody wld post in it, if not 4 insane people like you.

This is very ridiculous, you are simply mocking the men of God in Nigeria. Are you saying none of the pastor in Nigeria will get to Heaven? or don't you know that everyyone who take or give bribe will never get to heaven? think about this before you raise this kind of issue again.

Lets just call a spade by its name, and not just a farm tool. I certainly agree with banom. Who actually is a pastor? How many of d so-called pastors are genuinely men of God? Someone wld just wake up one morning, rent a warehouse, buy musical instruments & next thing they wld start answering anointed men of God. I hear people bashing banom, sayin he's anti-christian, while some are askin why seun keeps bringing up anti-christian threads on d home page; d truth is dat u dont solve a problem by running 4rm it. Most of our so-called men of God are not genuine and needs to be exposed, how many of them preach salvation? Its always prosperity and most common now instilling fear into thier vulnerable congregation by tellin dem dat they are being attacked by so so person in d marine world etc at times dey cause conflict btw families by blaming a family 4 d others misfortune. If d other religions decide to remain numb about d decadence in thier religion dats their problem. As xtains we are required to speak d truth.

Realy, then the following Pastors will reject it as well, Pastor Alameghesia, Pastor IBB, Pastor Anini, Pastor Derico, Pastor Obasanjo, Pastor Criminal,

You think because someone owns a church and calls himself a pastor , he is now a holy man abi ?,

Understand this: Nigeria is hard economicaly and many Nigerians are gullibles, smart and con men understood this very well, for them to make a living,a good number of them went into church business , knowing very well that they have waiting customers who will patronise them and wouldn't question them in any way,

when offered 10 billion naira, most Nigerian pastors will denounce Jesus christ and hand him over again to the Roman authority for second cruxifision.

remember that Jesus Lamented about the temple becoming a Market place well Nigerian churches are now shopping malls. look do not speak for anotha man becos u know not what he thinketh. let alone lay down ur life. too many scams running. why shud a church be given duty waiver. esp when it has no economic gain it offers the nation.

a proper pastor who has a proper relationship with God will refuse 1zillion naira bribe.

a pastor that relates with God always cannot accept bribe easily like that, that pastor is not a pastor.

a pastor will always have the fear of God if he is a true pastor

Mt 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

Mr 12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

It takes someone that has not discovered this TRUTH about GOD to think there is nobody that is sincerely serving GOD.

1 Kings 19:10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. (Like the thoughts of so many people)

Even Prophet Elijah thought that he was the only one in Israel that is standing for GOD until God told him otherwise in 1 Kings 19:18 quoted below. God did not say one, two, fifteen or one thousand but a whooping seven thousand people that were also faithfully abiding (you should be staggared with this revelation from God). Your understanding of the scriptures will help you in issues like this. This understanding will let you know that there are men/women in the Police that will not collect bribe, men/ladies on campuses that are virgins, Christians (Pastor/members) that are standing right and not fall victim of the topic, civil servants that do not collect bribes etc. But if you think you know more that God, then you are on your own.

1Kings 19:18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

So when they say that "every body is doing it" and you believe it then you are one of the most gullible people on nairaland.

Shalom!

I know banom as always been an antichrist and I'm not surprised but what bothers me is when he will rise to become a 'pastor with an example of what pastors should look like'

In the first place, for what offence and why are you bribing a pastor? There are one million and one pastors who will never collect any amount of bribe.

Secondly, you talk about Nigerian pastors all the time, are there better pastors around the world? Are we not all human beings just in different locations of the world?

The fact that banom and his followers can receive a N100 bribe in replace of their destiny does not mean everybody will. Lets Leave any pastors out of this, I can bet you that an ordinary person who is neither a pastor/Imam or whatever can reject a $10 billions even to the point of death.

What matters most is INTEGRITY.

@banom,

you again with this your 10 billion naira. everybody is not you that bribery and corruption has eaten deep into them. for the fact that you can't reject ordinary 500 naira bribery does not mean everybody is like you.

so there are thousands even millions of nigerians that can do and live perfectly with bribe.

banom and thetruth, haters of christian faithfuls, stop hating them.

If Jesus Christ could turn down an offer from the devil to possess the whole, methinks it is not impossible for a true Nigerian pastor (and believe me, there are quite a few in Nigeria) to turn down 10 Billion.

As an aside, I never stop wondering how threads that call into question the integrity of Christians keep making the front page. Just wondering,
