Abeg that musician if that is his profession should be paid except you also tell me that the material for the building and all the professionals and artisans that built the church built it for free. Biz is biz. However, if the musician decides to perform for free, that is a different thing all together. Please give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's and to God what is God's.

Was he a musician b/4 he came to the church or he became a musician as soon as he b/come a member of the church?

it all depend, if he became a member and choose to do the work of God by singing, i see no reason why he should asked to be paid, except he is not doing it for God but for money. If he was a musician b/4 he came to the church and he asked to be paid befor he play music, if the church needs his service then they could pay him, in this case he is seen as employed by the church to sing. I don't know if this king of songs will be for the glory of God shal.

Depends on what you mean by musician. I assume you mean instrumentalists. From what i know, most musicians do nothing else than play instruments. Many of them are not employed anywhere else. Many of them spend hours everyday (time you will not get if you work in an organisation) rehearsing. So why shouldn't they be paid? For many of them, the church they play in is the only employment they know. I know it would be ideal for them to play their instruments as a service to God like members of their choir. And many of them do. But we do not live in a n ideal world. There are many people who can play the instrument but do not take it as a profession but as a hobby. They are not professionals and there's so much we can expect from them. Apart from exceptional cases, these non-professional instrumentalist are not as good as the professionals. I submit that any church that requires or desires a professional musician should expect to pay for it.

This is what my friend said but ,i still want more Explanation

I will like to start by asking if a musician is a profession ? if yes and a Church is a place where we christian come together to worship GOD not to serve any body. In Church we find different professions but skilled and unskilled person. The person that balanced the church account, those that organized the chairs properly or even clean the chairs. what am trying to say is that if a musician is demanding for money before he can sing or play the keyboard in the church the person that sweep the floor of the church to will be justify if he ask for money for sweeping the church.

A church is not an organisation that is profit making and the services any body render is to GOD not to man.

In some situation for better administration the church can employ workers and paid them, that is not wrong.such as Drivers, Gatemen, Admin staff,e.t.c this is what they do everyday not Sunday to Sunday programme. And not employing a musician that is paid to sing every sunday service that as far i know is wrong.
