Is Religion A Business?

I have a problem with the new breed of preachers. Those who own big cars, palatial homes, designer clothes and ste-of-the art communications systems.

When next you go to these Churches, look at who is the most prosperous, with a big tummy and expensive things, then compare that person with the rest. It will be easy to know who is the Pastor.

Jesus never had these things, and the best transport mode he used was a donkey. And remember what he said to the rich man? He told the rich man to go and sell everything and give to the poor and then follow Jesus, as that was the only way he could go to heaven.

And Jesus said, it was easy for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, that for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.

I am afraid many people join religion for the money.

I have repeatedly said that STARTING A CHURCH is the QUICKEST ROUTE TO WEALTH in Nigeria.

Even quicker than politics.

I stand by that statement.

Religion is much BIGGER than a business. It's an system of brainwashing people from time immemorial. Religion is the backbone behind the greatest weapon of all time which is . . . DEDICATION ! ! !

Dedication is what will make a 16 year old boy who hasn't enjoyed anything in life wear a jacket laden with C-4 explosives and blow himself and innocent victims up in public. Dedication is what makes almajiris in Jos to gather in tens of thousands to cause mayhem and destruction all because two people from different religious sects had a quarrel in the market place. Dedication is what forces a family man to forfeit his first earnings of the year all in the name of "first fruits" as well as tithes, offerings, thanksgiving, church building contribution, vows and all sorts of scam methods churches employ to rip money off gullible church goers. Dedication is what made parents kill their own children in Cross river state years ago all because they were twins. . .

Not all view religion as a business. But many misuse it. We have conmen everywhere. Even the well known chicken thief will confess and become a famous pastor, only to sleep with other mens' wives and daughters

Capitalism has always been there. So has communism. They are not new. They only had different names and the situation was different. But is is not an excuse to destroy the work of Jesus.

Somewhere in the Bible, there is a verse which says, Heaven and earth shall go away, but my Word shall never go away. So people and situation may change, but the word of God will never change. So let us not misuse his word to enrich ourselves. Remember. only the meek shall inherit the earth

Jesus never built any of those. If you remembers, when human beings started building the tower of Babel, God himself destroyed it!

Fair enough, but how do the poor people know how to defferentiate between the two? Most of these pastors a well polished conmen, and you know such conmen are crowd pullers.

There is nothing wrong with religion. Indeed, most of our laws are based on religion. What is wrong is how we use religion. Our intepretation of religion shows clearly that we do not understand it, or we deliberately exploit for our own ends.

Look at it this way. These new churches advertise on TV and Radio and ask you to send some money. They even give you the telephone numbers or account numbers. Mainstream churches do not. These new churches claim to perform miracles on TV all the time, main stream churches do not. These new pastors drive in posh cars and live in big houses and always have bodyguards but our mainstream churches do not. Infact they live amongst us every day and share our problems. These new churches are full of flashy people, but our mainstream churches have just poor people.

This reminds me, when Jesus went to the wilderness for 40 days, Lucifer went to him, showed him all the wealth of the world, and promised Jesus, all the wealth if only Jesus worshipped him once. We know who these new priests worship

I know a guy someone I grown up with , who has become a pastor, because he lost his job, with Nigerian Airways.

I told him "whaaaat are you doing. Is it because of Money, what you want to make quick money" I said to him "Don't you realize you are deceiving the people?"

They use to laugh at me when we were younger and I used to go preaching on the streets and buses of Lagos. Now he come a pastor. Deceiving the people.

I told him he is adding to the problems of our country. Teaching us to be waiting for a white man (boy) to come from heaven to come and help them, this is why Nigeria is not moving forward. They are only moving backwards in Nigeria.

How can any Nigerians in their right mind be teaching their own people (black people) that their creator is albino, with animal type of hair?

Tell me, please.

Why is our country so messed up? And this religion is not helping us.

Rhino, how much was Jesus paying his disciples? When they complained of hunger, what did he tell them?

0

yes,it could be a buz organisation 4 some.

but, we all know where they will be damned.

The fact that a pastor is living fine

doesnt mean that he is one of those.

Atleast,Jesus wore one of the most

expensive cloths during His time.

One of the best donkeys during the time.

Religion aint poverty associated.

it shouldnt at all cost.

but, a pastor mustnt crave 4 money.

And how do you give to God?? Jesus answered to that question in the passage below

Matthew 25:35-40:

35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was Unclad, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or Unclad and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[a] you were doing it to me!’

So if any one is truly desirous of giving to God, he/she should concentrate on giving to the less priviledge around us. Your tithes and offerings go to the church/ pastor and not to God.

I want to start a new church. I'll call it the Roger Me Church of Mammon.

When it is time for collections we announce it with "oya, make una Roger us".

There'll be the first Roger of the day, then the second, third, fourth, then depending on how the spirit moves us the fifth one might be the final or the penultimate.

Anyone wanna join?

Well i think it depends on which side u want to look at it from, there is the monetary aspect of it and there is the religious aspect, both work hand in hand.

But i think we pay more attention to the monetary aspect that gets people confused and think that is all about making money, but it's more than than. Think about it ?

Islam is not a business. Muslims may be business men and women. Mohammed condemned using religion as a guise for seeking wealth.

So, the censorship is over! Thanking God!

Religion is a business.

YES, the Lords Business, you should busy yourself with.

True Religion is helping the needy, Being Christ Like, as much as possible.

Christianity as we know it today is straight from the pit of HELL.

When the bible said the road is narrow, it meant NARROW!
