What are the most famous Bible prophecies?

Have you heard about the famous prophecies of the Bible? Do you know which ones of them came true? Let’s find out together from this article!

Bible is full of prophecies about the future as well as of those that already came true. God warned people with them and gave them hope that Savior and Messiah will come soon.  Let’s see more examples of the famous Bible prophecies here.

Bible prophecy

It is amazing how many details from the history of the world that were fulfilled afterward. It is hard to deny that this was all just a trick because the time the prophecies were fulfilled is way ahead of when they were predicted.

Dr. Hugh Ross states that the Bible contains around 2500 predictions about the future events. Approximately two thousands of them have already been fulfilled. That is why no other book in the history can ever compare to this one. There is no chance that this is all just a huge coincidence, as the prophecies, for the most part, are not connected with each other and fulfilled at the completely different time.

Let’s check out the most famous of those predictions that came true.

Bible prophecies fulfilled

  1. “In approximately 700 BC, the prophet Micah named the tiny village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of Israel's Messiah (Micah 5:2). The fulfillment of this prophecy in the birth of Christ is one of the most widely known and widely celebrated facts in history.” (Micah 5:2) This was said by a prophet named Micah around 700 BC. However, this prophecy was fulfilled with the birth of Jesus Christ who truly was born in the city of David known as Bethlehem some seven hundred years later.
  2. “And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.” (Zechariah 11:12,13) This was said five centuries before it came true. As we know from the Bible, as well as from other trusted sources, Jesus actually was sold by His disciple for thirty pieces of silver correctly.

  3. “And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.” (Zechariah 11:12,13) Dr. Ross explains that this was said around four centuries before this took place. Back then the author of these words had no idea what he was talking about when led by the Spirit of God. The reason is that he had not seen a Roman cross in his life before. So, what a surprise it was for Christ’s followers see Him crucified in such a manner exactly how it was prophesied years ago.
  4. “And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 51:26) Despite the beliefs of people of that time that Babylon cannot be destructed by anyone, God promised that it would. Here is what these verses state: “the ruins would be avoided by travelers, that the city would never again be inhabited, and that its stones would not even be moved for use. This description is, in fact, the well-documented history of the famous citadel.” So, this prophecy has also some true.

  5. The other interesting prophecy is about the Jewish people would be taken as slaves several times. The first time they would be taken by the conquerors from Babylon, and the second time by the Romans. When conquered for the second time, all of the Jewish nation was taken to Egypt, just as it was predicted by Moses, Jeremiah, and then Jesus. The dates of fulfillment are 607 BC and 70 AD. Then the Jewish people were predicted to be scattered all over the globe for a long time until they return to the place of their origin and re-establish their kingdom again. As we know, this is exactly what is happening to the Jewish nation these days. They did not assimilate by other nations and remained a united nation throughout this whole time. It took more than three and a half thousand years for this prophecy to come true. Check out Deuteronomy 29; Isaiah 11:11-13; Jeremiah 25:11; Hosea 3:4-5 and Luke 21:23-24 for more information.

  6. Another famous prophecy is about the territory of Jordan that used to be a very fertile and inhabited land, but then according to the prophecy, it was to become a dry and barren region. And that is exactly how we know it knows. Find more detail here - Jeremiah 49:15-20; Ezekiel 25:12-14.
  7. “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner. And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb and shall compass about to Goath. And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more forever.” (Jeremiah 31:38-40) God predicted where and how exactly how and where the city of Jerusalem would be built. The city was supposed to be restored within the period which Jeremiah called the last days. Surprisingly, in 1948 when the city was rebuilt, it was constructed exactly in the way described in the verses above. The time difference between the prophecy and its fulfillment is around 2,600 years.
  8. “And Ahab made a grove, and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him. In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua, the son of Nun.” (1 Kings 16:33,34) This is the fulfillment of the prophecy had said five years before this took place. The prophecy stated that Jericho would be restored by a single man.
  9. Finally, Doctor Hugh Ross mentions another precise prophecy that was fulfilled. Here is what he says: “The prophet Isaiah foretold that a conqueror named Cyrus would destroy seemingly impregnable Babylon and subdue Egypt along with most of the rest of the known world. This same man, said Isaiah, would decide to let the Jewish exiles in his territory go free without any payment of ransom (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1; and 45:13).” As we know from the history, it actually did happen only one hundred and eighty years later.

Bible prophecy end times

All these fulfilled prophecies add up to the trustworthiness of the Bible. Scholars state that there is no chance that so many predictions would be said years ago and would find their exact fulfillment centuries later. Only God can do those miracles, so we can say for sure that God was there with those writing the prophecies and He was there later when letting them happen in a particular manner stated before.
