Who Is Jesus?

Assalamualaikum to my Muslim brothers, sisters and to my non Muslim friends, compliment of the day.

Let me start by apologizing for missing in action, this is due to the fact that am now somewhere pursuing my study which am finding it extremely difficult combining the two, even now i had to squeeze and post in some few lines. ?Hope you guys will forgive me.

Secondly, Am really sorry for what am going to write, Muslims are not against the teachings of Jesus Christ, in fact believing in Jesus and his teachings is one of the pillars of Islam, hope my christian friends will understand and reason with me.

The above question (who is Jesus) may be simple but if one ask Christians of different denominations, he will be amazed to hear different answers, some believe Jesus is God, some believe he is the only begotten son of God while others believe that he is one of the trio Gods (Waiyyazhubillah).

The answer to this question have been provided in the Holy Qur'an and the bible. I am starting by quoting a single verse from the holy Qur'an and compare it with what the bible is saying about the true personality of Jesus Christ.

"O people of the scripture( Christians)! do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say Allah aught but the truth. The messiah Isa (Jesus), son of Mary, was a messenger of Allah and his word, which he bestowed on Mary and a spirit created by him, so believe in Allah and his messengers. Say not: Three (trinity) cease it is better for you. For Allah is only one, glory be to him above having a son. To him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. and Allah is all sufficient as a disposer of affairs."(Q 4 vs 171).

Let us now read what the bible is saying.

1.This is the way to have eternal life - to know you, the only true God and Jesus Christ the one you sent to earth.

(john 17:3)

2. Jesus said of my own self, I can do nothing as I hear I judged and my judgment is just because i do not seek my will but the will of the one that sent me. (john 5:30)

3. For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do what I want. (john 6:38).

The first question I want to ask here is that, can God sent another God?

From the above verses, it is indisputable biblically and qur'anically that Jesus Christ was a prophet and a messenger who was sent by God.

Some Christians believe in Jesus as God because of the miracles he performed forgetting that Elisha also performed miracles as stated in the following verses.

1. Then Elisha prayed, o lord, open his eyes and let him see! the lord open his servant's eyes and when he looked up, he saw that hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. (2 kings 6:17).

2. And he (Elisha) stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the lord my god, please let this child's life return to him, the lord heard Elijas prayer and the life of the child returned to him and he came back to life. (1 kings 17:21-22).

For more details about Elija's miracles see 2 kings 5:14 and 2 kings 42-44.

My dear friends if performing miracles qualifies Jesus Christ to be God then Elija too should be considered as God, since he performed almost all the miracles Jesus did.

Now, let us examine the verses in the bible which Christians are basing their divinity of Jesus Christ.

1. In the beginning, was the word and the word was with God and he was God. (John 1:1).

The above verse is neither coming from God nor Jesus, it is coming from John, the historiographer who was trying to explain his understanding of the relationship between Jesus and God, unfortunately he contradicted the bible as pointed out in (John 17:3 and john 5:30). And if one examine the verse (john 1:1) he will understand that the word, with, is a conjunction, joining word and God.

The same Bible says in Isiah 44:6 and i quote, God says I am the first and the last, there is no any God besides me. (Isiah 44:6). If I may ask my dear friends, which statement is more authentic? is it the one from God or the one from John?

Another verse which christian hold as an evidence of Jesus divinity is (John 10:30) which states and i quote

The father and i are one. (john 10:30)

I want to ask my christian friends, in what context was Jesus saying they are one? there is still another verse in the bible where Jesus is saying and i quote

father is greater than i am (john 14:28).

Can any christian help me reconcile these two verses ( john 10:30 and john 14:28)? if at all Christians are reasoning well, they wouldn't have been using John 10:30 in establishing the divinity of Jesus Christ. If the oneness of Jesus according to john 10:30 qualified him to be God, the same oneness would have qualified his disciples to be God, since as stated in the same john 17:21-23, and i quote, That they may be one as we are one, i in you, they in me that we may all denote one. (John 17:21-23)

Is Jesus talking about oneness in knowledge, essence, or power? the answer is no!!! because he wouldn't have said in Mark 13:32 and i quote

However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or son himself. Only the father knows. (Mark 13:32) and Jesus says in (john 5:30) and i quote

I of my own self can do nothing (john 5:30). Again ?Mathew 19:26 says and i quote, With God all things are possible (Mathew 19:26).

My friends, if one scrutinize these verses, he doesn't have to be told that Jesus is not God.

Now to those who consider Jesus as the only begotten son of God, they accept the word 'Son' literally, which is not so, because son of God signifies love and affection, nearness to God, which according to the bible, is not applied to Jesus alone. We find such term used in reference to many others besides Jesus, examples are giving below.

1.Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called the children of God. (Mathew 5:9)

2. For all who are led by the spirit of God, are sons of God.(Romans 8:14).

See also Genesis 6:1-2 and Mathew 5:45. for more verses.

Moses told his people that, our lord is God and is alone. (Deuteronomy 6:4). Jesus also said the lord our God is the one and only Lord. ( mark 12:29) and the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) also said, He is Allah, the one, the self sufficient. Master, whom all creatures need, he begets not, nor was he begotten, and there is none co-equal or comparable unto him. (Qur'an 112:1-4).

Allah Subhanahu wata'ala is telling us and I quote.

We did not send any messenger before you, Oh Muhammad (S.A.W) but we revealed to him saying none has the right to be worshiped but i (Allah) (Lailaha illa ana), so worship me (alone and none else). (Qur'an 21:25).

(Qur'an 112:1-4)

My dear friends, the truth is always obvious from the falsehood, so it is left for you to choose between the two. As I always say my doors are open for comments and observation because am a human being destined to make mistakes.

I some days ago posted that same thread @ Islamic Religion section. But I fear it does not serve the purpose I intended it to there. For example I see a few relies, and majority fail to answer my challenge. Here it goes again. . .

Jesus is the son of the God. The God send him to us, on the Earth, to atone for the sins of us. So, the God sent his the only child to save our solves. And everybody knows and understands this fact. To my mind, the looking for the some facts its just destroing the whole and set for the many centuries knowledge of religion. The main point of the religion is to believe, but not to find any facts, which confirm or deny any religious knowledges, which were given to us by our ancestors, and wich we must care for the future generations.

In my place of worship we have been told thousands of times that Jesus is a well-known anointed sovereign. Actually i have been pondering about in for the past 4 years. You be aware that people all over our globe are questioning his existing and the Bible itself. Complicated to say actually weather or not the whole story basically took place but i feel like it is impotent for each single person on earth to have a leap of faith. We are ought to believe in something apart from ourselves. In this case we will have some chance to live decent live and treat every person with homage

The Holy Book Bible leaves no dobuts in that Jesus was the Messiah. He was send by God to atone for our sins as a savior of our lost souls. In my vision of who he was i believe he is a spirit that came down to the earth in a human flash being born through Maria. Bunch of evidences is a witness of the authenticity of the Bible can be found just by looking at all the predictions happening in the world. I try my best to please the Lord by living according to his Holy word, working on my flaws to became a better person.

Gbere omo Oduduwa. I am certain that Oduduwa is not truly your father, since he has been dead for many hundreds of years, without preserving his Fluid to be used in the pregnancy of anyone alive, today. You will see how Mary the mother of jesus was called the sister of Aaron. You hear me Queenisha.

Now, PastorAIO, apply the same process above with each prophet; Moses and Muhammad. Read their materials.

Huxley Huxley, the great Sussicornian.  O prophet of Sussicornity, may I attempt to answer your question.

My brother, imagine that I want to teach you to draw.  You have minimal artistic ability.  First, I am aware that artistic ability stems from the Right lobe of the brain and not the left lobe.  Yet I also know that the left lobe is dominant in most people and has more influence over behaviour and skills.  Therefore in the process of teaching you art I have to find a way to distract the left brain and engage the right.

The modus operandi of the left brain is to name and categorise things without proper consideration for the contours and unique shape of the things.  So if presented with a face it just sees 'a nose, two eyes, two ears, two lips below the nose, and a frightfully big head.'  The right brain however notices the curve of the (nose) and the way that blends into the curve of the (forehead) which has a rather interesting angle to the rather sudden projection of a 3 inch (afro).  This kind of perception is what a artist needs to draw.  How then do you confound the left brain to the point that it loses interest in the face thereby allowing the right brain to do it's work.

One technique used by Art teachers is to get the students to draw the picture of an upside down face.  when the face is upside down it is not so easy for the left brain to name and dismiss the various features.  What the artist is then left with is a load of lines and contours which he can then faithfully reproduce on his paper.  After the class when the drawing is turned back the right way up we find that we've achieved a similitude to the photograph that is often beyond our normal artistic ability.

Now consider that Jesus too was trying to engage with a normally unused aspect of our being.  If he used a direct rhetoric the human understanding would seize on it and interpret it in all kinds of ways that ultimately misconstrue the whole point of what he is saying.  Therefore it would be necessary to distract and confound the human understanding so that another faculty can come into play.  Those who have developed these faculties can grasp what he has termed a mystery.  Yet those who do not have it will only flounder and rightly so because it is better to be confused and mystified than to get the wrong end of the stick completely.  On more than one occasion Jesus made it clear that things of the kingdom of heaven require another faculty to understand.  It was this faculty that Jesus was concerned with engaging.  You can involve yourself with all sorts of cerebral gymnastics and clever argumentation, and I, for one, am quite fond of such, but the fact is that seeing, you will not see, and hearing, you will not hear.  Enjoy your brain but be aware of it's limitations.

Ologbon kan o le ta koko omi si eti aso

Moran moran kan o le ka iye eepe ile

It's a pity, you can never and will never understand the mystery behind this Supreme being called: God except He chooses to reveal it to you!. The gap between the finite YOU [huxley] and HIM is infinte. . . .He is mystery personified.

If He wills, He might have mercy and reveal Himself to you just as He did to Paul on his way to damascus. . . .! (maybe you should drop all these baseless arguments of yours. . . .because alot of others have done this before and gone nowhere with it)

Who can understand His errors? Cleanse Thou me from secret faults. Psalm 19:12.

Keep back thy servant also from presumptous sins, let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Ps 19:13

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my hearts, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strenght, and my Redeemer. Ps. 19:14

Regrds!

Matthew 10 and Matthew 24

a. Do not go into the way of the Gentiles: This is the pattern of the gospel - it is for the Jew first and also for the Greek (Romans 1:16). Later, the gospel would go to both the Samaritans and the Gentiles, but it had to begin with the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

b. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel: God’s intention was to reach the whole world, but beginning with Israel. There was certainly enough work to do among the lost sheep of the house of Israel to keep the twelve busy until God directly commanded them to expand their ministry.

Forgiving Sins is in the bible, if you like Claim not knowing.

Jesus (if he existed) was a great impostor from Judea to whom extraordinary powers have been projected by this devoted followers. Almost everything we know about him as a real person was written down at least 30 years after his death, during which time a mythology or Christology about his life has already developed.

As to whether he was a good teacher, he clearly was not. Compared to Plato or Aristotle, Jesus was a dunce. Was it not Jesus who said he speaks in parable so that people would not understand? Would a good teacher deliberately obfuscate his message.

Matthew 13:

9Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

If Jesus was truly after everyone, why would he hide his message from some?

Supposing I claim to possess the power/ability to restore auras. What would this mean? Well, for this statement to make any sense the words "restore" and "aura" must have a well-founded definition that gives meaning in this context.

In other words, "aura" must be an entity that is capable of being "restored". This is similar to Jesus's claimed ability to "forgive sins". If Jesus claimed to be able to forgive sin, would could he be sure he really possess such powers?

Secondly, why does the power to forgive make him special? I have the ability to restore auras - does that make me a special individual?

Jesus was word and flesh. Now jesus isn't god but a mere man.

In our Holy Quran we are made to know that in the beginning was word when Allah say 'BE' and we are created, thus into flesh.

What distinguish me from jesus, i am word and flesh.

Am expecting you to deny or rebuff because i know your attitude of pretext

I do not wish to cast aspersions at you but from all indications, you have great difficulty understanding simple statements.

muhsin has been good enough to read carefully and post structured responses unlike you who always deviate and make unfounded allegations.

One more time I wish to state for the record that at no time did I deny the personality of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the Word made flesh. (John 1:14)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1)

You can make your inference from there.

@muhsin

Please permit me to round off at work and I will continue our discourse once I get home from work.

Thank you for your structured response.

Please note that I did not say there were three gods.

It's a known fact that 1+1+1=3

Hence 1=1=1 is what I am saying.

I agree with the bible verses you stated but would need to explain all over again the self-existence of God in three persons, note that I did not say personalities!

In case you missed it, there is one God.

. . .more to follow

OK. I'll, inshaAllah.

Read what I believe about Jesus and Christianity, i.e. I believe the existence of one true God:

I disbelief in Christianity and belief in Islam when I, ESPECIALLY, look at that Trinity obscurity and dogmatism. It's boldly and numerously said therein the Bible that the Lord?God is one, but they claim that he's three. I wonder it's in algebraic or in ordinary mathematics that 1+1+1=1. This rationally, intelligently and reasonably sound completely absurd and even thoughtless. Contrary to this it's said:

Old Testament:

1-Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord. (Deuteronomy 6: 4)

2-Has not the One God made and sustained for us the spirit of life?(Malachi 2: 15)

3-I am the first and I am the last; besides Me there is no god. Who is like Me? (Isaiah 44: 6)

4-And many other verses.

New Testament:

1-One came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he (Jesus) said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God.(Matthew 19: 16-17, in Kings James Version)

2-Now this is life eternal, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.(John 17: 3)

3-Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is One Lord. (Mark 12: 29)

4-And many other verses

You see? Why then would they say there are three God,i.e. god the father, god the son and god the holy spirit?

Qur'an, on this issue, states (in corroboration of these quoted verses ):

1-Say: He is Allah, the One; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begets not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like unto Him. (112: 1-4)

2-There is no god but I; so worship Me. (21: 25)

3-Can there be another god besides Allah (God)? High is Allah above what they associate with Him.(27: 63)

Indeed, this message concerning the Oneness of God (i.e., Tawheed in Arabic) is the essential theme of the Qur’an. Why should I take Qur'an, then?

After Trinity, another issue in relation to it is the calling of all the Prophet to worship none but Allah. For example, when Moses (p.b.u.h) was asked about the first commandment in your Bible. He said in Mark 12:28-29 and said the Lord is One.

Noah (p.b.u.h) said in Qur'an 33:23 that God is One.

Prophet Hood (p.b.u.h) in Qur'an 7:59 said the same.

Salih (p.b.u.h) in Qur'an 7:65 also said the same.

Shu'aib (p.b.u.h) in the same vein uttered the same in Qur'an 7:73.

And all others said. Therefore, Muhammad (p.b.u.h)'s message is BUT true. Allah says unto him: "And We sent no messenger before you but commended him to inform his people that there is no true God except I; therefore worship Me alone. (Qur'an 21:25).

Moreover, I don't at all believe that Jesus was the son of God. This may come up next time. Now there are loads to do on the net.

Thanks for your understanding. May the Lord of Muhammad (p.b.u.h), the Lord of Jesus (p.b.u.h), our Lord--Allah, the Exalted, guide us all, ameen.

The admission card is for my sister and not me, am not schooling in unilag, get it man.

Ahonohai, if you can't answer simple question on your religion why not agree with my points.

The Quran is so easy no need to beat the bush.

Quran 54:17

And we have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember: then is there any who will remember this admonition ?'

i again lay emphasy on my point that if truely trinity exist then Jesus is a surbodinate god, read this,

jesus said john 14:28 'my father is greater than i'

if jesus is 3 in 1 consisting of the father, son and spirit, then hear what he quote

jesus said john 5:30

'I can do nothing on my own authority, as i hear i judge, and my judgement is just, because i seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me"

praise be to God, no wonder he cried asking for help mathew 27:46 'MY God MY God why hast thou forsaken me'

from the above quote jesus was never a god, a word is enough for the wise

Jesus is lord, and the trinity is true (tri-unity), its not to be understood with a carnal mind as that same mind makes men become atheists, if you really want to know who Christ really is study the word and meditate on it pray for answers on questions raised, but all you do is read it, to someone without a scientific background, scientific theories would sound silly to him if he only reads but doesn't study it in detail, abuzola just reads he shows the wisdom of the flesh, the kind showed by Nicodemus who was a big religious cleric at the time who thought being born again meant to go back into one's mother's womb, and abuzola thinking trinity means one. we know atoms to be the smallest particles of a chemical element that still exhibit all the chemical properties unique to that element.(and its comprised of protons, electrons and neutrons), its 3-in-1, the atom has every property that the element has. the human body is composed of the body, soul and the spirit, that won't make me call 1 person 3 persons. that analogy can best explain the trinity

the trinity is this God, the Word (Son), the Holy Spirit and its one ,in unison cant understand it with the human mind,

@ abuzola,John 17: 20"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24 "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25" Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

Didn't you reject my points. I knew it that my post was right and accurate, no christian will be able to refute what i ve stated earlier except confusing or puting words disorderly, hence in the wake of naiveness. I have challenged many christians and it seems they follow christianity in ignorance and not certain about their mystery God, 3 in 1 series, if the 3 gods or trinity are 1 then why would jesus be declaring yet another god in heaven and saying the other god is greater than him ? I have my proofs from the bible.

This is a food for thought for the wise

My dear friend Abuzola,

I have taken the liberty to go through your posts on the site and am leaning towards a different conclusion.

If you spent a little more time to work on your articulation it would do you a great deal of good.

Please do not be offended by this but your posts suggest that you were seeking Admission into the University last year. If this is so, then I can understand why you are unable to follow logical discussions rationally without deviating.

You ask questions clearly, but when clarification is sought you change the topic and continue with incongruable rants. . .

Too much grammar is harmful. Where did I refute you? I asked for clarification. Or don't you know what refute means anymore. In case you don't, it means to reject an opinion with overwhelming evidence. I don't recall doing that on this thread.

Care to clarify before we proceed?

Firstly my name is Ahonohai. . .A-H-O-N-O-H-A-I

Secondly, could you please quote the post where I stated that the universe was ruled by Three God using your very own words!

Thirdly, do you mean Three God or 3 gods? There is a clear difference between them.

Finally, where did you get the concept of a senior and junior god from? Definitely not from me!

I would also like to request that when you respond directly to my posts that you do not cast aspersions against my God as I do not and will not refer to Allah in such language. If you cannot give me such consideration then it will be rather unfortunate and I willl have to come to the unfortunate conclusion that you are unreasonable. At this point in time, I beg to differ with the popular view that you are unreasonable and not worth conversing with.

God forbid ! You will be in hell and not we.

Here is what Allah says about people like you

Quran 3:19

truly, the religion with God is Islam. Those who were given the scriptures jews and christians did not differ except out of mutual jealousy, after knowledge had come to them. And whoever disbelieve in the revealation of God, then surely, God is swift in calling to account'

abuzola pls spare me your quotations from that manual of hate and demonic deception. Why is Allah speaking now? where was he for the over 1000 yrs AFTER Christ came and resurrected but before islam?

Who is he recompensing in hell? Didnt he make an irrevocable decree to put even you muslims there too?

@david, Poor attempt, you seems to be confusing yourself in your statements

i have this for you if you have sense.

Quran 21:26-29

and they say 'The most Gracious (GOD) has begotten a son' Glory to Him ! They jesus son of mary and ezra are but honoured. They speak not until God has spoken and they

act on His command. He knows what is before them and behind them and they cannot intercede except for him with whom He is pleased. And they stand in awe for fear of Him (GOD)'.

And if verily any of them (jesus or ezra) should say 'verily i am god besides the true God' such a one we should recompense with Hell. Thus We recompense the wrongdoers'

true talk Ya Allah. Even in their bible jesus never claim 'I AM GOD or Worship me'
