Why Did God Have To Take A Break After Six Days Of Actively Creating The World?

On each of the days of creation, did God create what he created in an instant, or did it actually spend prolonged periods of time painstaking, slowly and methodically creating his creations?

What might have happened had he not rested on the 7th day? Could he have died of exhaustion?

You were asking him to believe someone's claim of hearing from God. Why would you not believe another person hearing from God?

Jesus told me. Who told you that it has not yet occurred?

If it is just relative to you why should I believe you?

The biblical account conflicts with itself too. So who should I believe?

The function of the nerve should determine how long it should be. Also, I just pointed out to you that it is easily affected there by tumors of any of the other organs around it.

The kidney serves multiple purposes besides, as you age, kidney function reduces so it is better to hedge your bet in that case. Sure you have two lungs but you should see patients with one lung or even heavy smokers with two lungs how able are they to carry out their daily activities?

It is poorly designed.

I would consider e.g an octopus eye for starters.

Animals such as? Adaptation is not about perfection it is adjusting to fit your environment.

Some other folks seem to actively refuse to think.

Nope. Lymphatic vessels will pretty much always be damaged in surgeries reaching the muscle layer and they are not as important to preserve during surgery as nerves. But in surgeries of that part of the neck, after the blood vessels, the nerves are next most important structures.'

The fact that is too long is a sign of poor design.

Bad design in the sense that it could be better. In fact better designs are out there.

From wikipedia

You can ask your doctor it is one of the most commonly performed surgical operations.

So how ridiculous is it again?

this makes no sense.

1. The nerve is longer than it "needs" to be . . . sorry but who determines how long a nerve should be? Would that person also be worried that we have an extra lung or kidney that is virtually a waste? What problem does this long nerve pose? NONE biologically!

2. the blind spot is a flaw of what? What is the problem with the blind spot? Does it prevent you from walking, running, playing sports, driving? What exactly?

3. What would the "perfect" eye be like if you were to construct it? Why do animals that we allegedly descended from have far better eyes than we do? Isnt adaptation all about perfection?

Really are these folks thinking at all?

I got the point perfectly. You're the one seeking a problem where there is none. Ok the nerve is longer than it needs to be but WHY is that a problem? We need only one lung or kidney to function perfectly but we've got two . . . would that also be a problem?

During surgery, lymphatic vessels and other surrounding nerves are at more risk of damage than the nerves in question . . . that is why you spend yrs training before you become an ENT!

This is just nonsense. Bad design in what sense? Does the blind spot prevent you from doing anything?

hmmm there are billions of men on earth, what percentage of them develop hernias just because of a descended testes? Ridiculous.

I believe here you were requiring that Kay 17 should believe whatever someone was saying about their God just because that person believed it strongly.

Who told u or how do u know that the second coming should have taken place long ago?

0

You seem to deliberately miss the point. The point is that it is simply longer than it needs to be which is inefficient thereby increasing risk of damage during surgical procedures to adjacent organs e.g the thyroid.

It doesn't have to be a disability. It is simply bad design when there are better designs out there.

What is silly here? The fact that the commonest hernias also pass through this route of descent of the testes?

0
Avatar

What do you know about the second coming? For all we know it should have already occurred.

0
Avatar

hmmm actually so many problems are posed during surgery. For example, nicking the intestines (which you would agree are just perfect) would cause massive infections and possibly death. A jaw tumor can affect the voice box too without touching the nerves. See this example is just bizarre.

and how does this cause a disability to us?

That's quite silly. Its not.

and before mummy and daddy? And before them? and the first man who ever walked came how? by magic dust?

0
Avatar

Hmm it seems your idea of "perfect creation" is that we really dont need an extra eye or ear, we dont need a liver that can regenerate itself, dont need that a second kidney, dont need a tail bone without which u cant lean back while sitting down, do not need a thyroid gland (once considered a vestigial organ like the appendix), do not need two lungs as you can function excellently well with just one . . .

Seriously?

0
Avatar

The problems arise when surgery is required or when a tumor affects any of the organs along its path. It is simply an inefficient way of designing a connection.

The blind spot reduces the visual field. There are animals which do not have such a limitation.

This is one of the causes of hernias in men requiring surgery for treatment.

Ur illustration cant be applied here. The reason being that the biblical account about the second coming&Rapture isnt in line with what u just gave. Moreover it wouldnt be believed cus rapture story will not be told by man.Try another scenario to counter mine.

Well, it's like this David: When a Mummy and Daddy love each other. . .

And the Appendix, David?

What is that?

I mean, it must have a use if we're perfect. Admittedly mine burst and had to be removed, but if it was left in, what would it's benefits have been?

When will bastage answer a single one of my questions instead of just running to generate more irrelevant ques?

1. Are you suggesting humans are the product of evolution?

2. Do you call the coccyx a vestigial bone?

3. Assuming God did not make me with magic dust, how were YOU created?

What is wrong with the wisdom tooth? Are you also dissatisfied with 2 ears and would rather you were created with one?

0

@DD And it's not?

Even though a human embryo has a tail just as all mammals do?

Of course, you're different. God sprinkled some magic ju-ju dust and "POOF", there you appeared, formed as you are now.

How about Wisdom Teeth?

What are you trying to say here? How can this story be applied?

Consider this story.

I met a guy who said he was the true son of God who had come a second time and was told by God to start giving away his property and that of his family members since he was going to start the rapture in 7 days. He also advised for all those who heard his message to do the same. He then proceeded to give away the properties.

What do you think should be done here? Should we believe him and also give away our property or refer this guy for psychiatric evaluation?

If you met this guy would you also start giving away your property?

Where you going to call it a vestigial tail?

Changes to the requirement of the right and left recurrent laryngeal nerve having to run such a long distance, the blind spot in the human eye, the requirement of the path of testes' descent creating a defect on the abdominal wall etc.

Contrary to what you think, the human body is actually not a perfect design. If a human was to design it even with our currently limited knowledge and at a macroscopic level, some very crucial changes would be made.

You have conflated the theory of evolution with the theory of the origin of the universe. They are quite different.

Besides, evolution by natural selection does not occur by accident.

In the case of man, it is not perfect, with the earth, it's still too soon to tell but they are not indications of any creator before we speak of a perfect one.

So the heavens have pillars that we cannot see but are nonetheless present?

But the mountains themselves do shake in the cases volcanoes and earthquakes.

Who causes plants of the evilly kind to grow herein?

Well humans have created vaccines, the space station, cellular phones, televisions etc.

If he said this and really believed it to the extent of acting on it, he would have been preparing for a visit to the psychiatrist unless he is able to ignore the more outrageous instructions he receives.

the grand assumption for the Prime Mover, is an answer that raises more questions.

Isn't there the possibility of other movers with an area of specialization?

What is the origin of the this Prime Mover?

for such a complex designer who pays so much attention to every detail, who then could have designed the designer to match this sophistication?

as the evidence of a being like a human or animal is his appearance, is it the same with HIM?

the ancient mind in the depths of ignorance borne the concept of the designer.

Actually, plenty have hit the Earth. The best theory for the extinction of the dinosaurs is a giant meteor strike. There's plenty of evidence of meteor strikes hitting the Earth. In fact, every day, thousands hit the Earth; although 99.9% of them are too small to do any damage. Occasionally, big ones do get through though:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_event#Modern_impact_events

One thing you also fail to take into account is the Earth's moon. At one time, that collided with this planet.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_impact_hypothesis

And let us not forget the fact that the Moon actually shields the Earth from many meteor strikes.

Finally:

Collisions happen all of the time:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8195467.stm

The Universe is nowhere near as perfect and peaceful as you may think it is. It is a place of constant change.

Look around you my dear friend; look into the sky and see the Millions of stars floating in it; each one bigger than the earth; moving around in perfection with no collision. In theory many meteors are moving in random motion in space all with a probability of hitting the earth; but yet none has hit the earth; do you think it is all by accident or luck that the earth has not been hit by any of those meteors!. There must have been a master planner; master controller and coordinator.

Look at the human system; it is an absolute perfection. We couldn't have been created better. From the Circulatory system, Respiratory system; excretory system. Everything is working in perfect consonance and you think that all that happened by ACCIDENT! as propounded by the Big bang theory that I think you believe in !. Oh no all those perfection you see in the creation of man; and the creation of this earth are all indications of the existence of a perfect creator.

I leave you with this verse of the NOBLE QURAN:

Q31:10-11:

"He has created the heavens without any pillars that you see; and has set on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. And He has scattered therein moving creatures of all kinds. And we send down water from the sky; and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein.

11.) This is the creation of Allah. So show Me that which those besides him have created. Nay, the (Wrong-doers' polytheists, and those who do not believe in the oneness of Allah) are in plain error"

The answer is probably far more mundane than God needing to take a break.

Genesis was probably written and compiled in Babylon. Babylonian religion observed a day of rest known as the Shappatum. As the Hebrews were steeped in Babylonian culture and religion, they merely adopted it and turned it into the Sabbath.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shappatum

Later it became more important. The Sabbath was used as one of the means for the religion to strengthen - every Jew was unified in the action of worshipping their god on that day. Not only that, but to stay fit and healthy, everyone needs a day off from time to time. Making it one of their god's laws meant that it couldn't be argued with.

Allah says in the Holy Quran (Suratul QAF; 50:38):

"And indeed We (Allah) created the heavens and the earth and all between them in 6 days and nothing of fatigue touched us"

In Quran 32:4:

"Allah it is He who has created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them in six days. Then He rose over the throne. You (mankind) have none besides Him, as a protector or an intercessor. Will you not then remember(or receive admonition)?

Surely, truthful are the words of Allah(The one worthy of all praise); and He is greater far beyond fatigue and needs no rest.

God is never tired&never rests. The everlasting God,the lord, the creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not neither is weary. Is 40:28.

According to Haley and many others the term 'rested and was refreshed' is simply a vivid oriental way of saying that God ceased from work of creation&took delight in surveying the work.

Don't mind that religion called chirstianity, they always give human attribute to God, is he like us whose after long working hour we need to rest, i just pray it wont be too late when the truth will come.

So I guess to you the world just came out of no where. Whatever you are entitle to your own opinions. Why are you here commenting on how the world was created and how God rested if you dont believe in the Genesis account. Yep there more to it, but why go further with you if you dont believe in the Genesis account? Finished.

It is unfortunate that most popular beliefs of Christians are authorized interpretations of unauthorized men. This is the reason for the gaps which prompts our mind to some question of truth. The Jewish teachers(Pharisees & Sadducees) were such examples(Mt22:29) even as we have them today in different pseudonyms and forms. The authority to interpret the scripture of God is not of man's school of thought but God's(1Cor2:6-14) and He gives it to whoever He chooses according to His will(Lk8:9)

In Gen1:31, God saw all that He made and indeed it was very good; this was the 6th day. Verse1 of Gen2 summarized all that God made; the work of creating had been finished but yet to be ended- Think.

Gen2:2 mentioned that it ended on the 7th day. The reasonable question is: what occupied God on the 7th day, so expedient that He did not end His work on the 6th day but on the 7th? Let me try to provide an answer in my opinion:

Which wise creator or inventor would do a masterpiece and not seek to establish it or rather preserve it? None! God who is omniscient should know better: shouldn't He?

On the 7th day, God established all He had done in six days by appointing the ordinances of creation. It was in this day that God set a law to govern all creation and to preserve it forever. It was only in this that He had peace of mind and success. So God did not just make, He also established(Psm119:90; Jer33:2; 51:15).

This is why God hallowed the 7th day and also because in it is the wisdom and righteousness of God manifested, His work perfected and He had Great Peace(Rest) from all worries and fear.

May the Peace of the LORD be with you.

Remember that God did not create the earth in seven literal days. For one day to God is a thousand years. God rest on the seventh day to allow what he had already created to develop according to his will or how he wanted the earth to be. There more to it, I leave it at this.

0

@Fellis

Fellis whoa! whoa!! whoa!!! Ease up now, steady

Making the sun rise or set at their will, cause death or how to create their very own heaven and earth etc is going against the grind

C'mon, its out of jurisdiction and the sphere of authority given to man. You know that, or dont you?

"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" - Rest was made for man, not man for rest

but hey check these verses out, provided in different translations and tell me what you think

Its self-explanatory enough

0
Avatar
Newbie

^^I think you just drew that conclusion from the other verse because even you know that it is simply blasphemous to say God needs rest. The verse you speak of from Hebrews does not directly interprete the 'rest' as meaning that God is leading by example by 'resting'. Okay.

Secondly, since humans are already under obligation to follow the commandments God gives them, a direction to rest or take a break after their labour could have been given to them instead, if christians are supposed to take examples from God to determine what they should do, then they should also aspire to learn how to make the sun rise or set at their will, or how to give life and cause death or how to create their very own heaven and earth.

What does he(bible god) do to keep fit? Does he have his own a fitness studio? I am asking this question because he will have to be fully fit in order to be able to keep pursuing the devil all over the planet to keep him away from his "children", among other numerous exhaustive tasks of his.

Why should the Judeo-Christian God not rest? After doing 9 to 5 everyday for 6 days. Do you want him to die of exhaustion. He needs to take a good full days sleep, so as to prepare for monday morning. Because the Job of guiding and guarding his creations from his arch rival is going to be even more tiring and frustrating. He needed the rest to plan ahead on how he is going get his most stubborn and troublesome creations to bow down completely and submit to him.

At one point he lost patience and gave up, and decided to go back to the drawing board to start again with this most stubborn of his creations.

Now i do not know if he still rests every Sunday or the rest was a one off affair, after the tiring process of creation.

stop this "Judeo-christain" creationism crap !

I might as well believe God created the world by sending Obatala or Oduduwa, the way yorubas belief,

or God send Pan ku like the chinese belief.

All these creation stories are myth and folklores just to glorify a supreme being in each cultural settings

So if hypothetically Adam and Eve and the animals and plants were made like say 20,000 years ago what is the fate of the Dinosaurs who were around

230 million years ago or so.

so God created humans as Homosapiens straight out; what is the fate of the Homo erectus, Homo heidelbergensis, and Homo neanderthalensis.

All these creationism story are fraud and to be considerate, myths!

WE SHOULD STOP THINKING FOR GOD
