Please note that there is nothing like white lie, blue or black lie; a lie is a lie. Answering the question, I like to view situations carefully before taking decisions. I will not lie to save a hardened criminal. By saving such a criminal, I will be sparing his life & encouraging him to continue to harass, maim, & kill innocent citizens in the Society. Then what happens after that, one goes on one's knees & say "Baba God forgive me for that lie & for setting the criminal free." How can anyone expect to be forgiven for complicating issues for the Society & even for himself. I will only lie to save a person I know will repent if given a second chance. Much as we want to help our fellow human beings, we need to exersise caution so we dont compound situations, for a decision taken & implemented cannot be reversed. NAJALYN

Lying is dishonesty and it's against the will of God. It's unfortunate to see any christian support lying. This should only be acceptable to some unbelievers, what sort of perverse generation is this. All that live godly will suffer persecution. If any man will not take up the cross, he is not worthy to be a disciple of Christ.

You having the chance to save his life by lying, means: He's being giving a chance to go and sin no more.

He might not be lucky next time.

A lie could NEVER truly save a life. But what shall it profit a man if He gained the whole world and lose his own soul, or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

the bible says, lying is a sin and the smallest sin can prevent you from the kingdom of God. would you prefer me to lie, save the persons life and spend my eternity in hell? besides is it my fault that he got himself into the shitt he is in? if it is his destiny to die, die he must. i have never lied in my life and i wont do it for any reason.

E isso mesmo

Well, I see lie as an intellect. If you use it possitively, I do not see any thing wrong in it. But using it wrongly as in the case of putting an innocent person into trouble or protecting an unrepentant criminal is bad.

A "born again" once told me that he can never tell lies because all lies are sins and lead to hell.  Then I asked him this question.

If hired assasins or armed robbers come to your house in search of your father. And you know quite well that your father is hidding under the bed. Now, the criminals search every where and could not find your father. If they come to ask you your fathers where about, would you tell them that your father is hiding under the bed?

The "Born again" became dumb founded.

Because if he says he does not know where his father is, he has told lies and he will go to hell. If he says "my dad is under the bed" his father would die.

Please all Born again and holy people here, if it were you, what will you do.

I would lie a hundred times to save a life. Lying to a bad person who wants to kill is a good deed.

hisssssss, I lie everyday of my life. So to save someone's life I will lie so perfectly wit will be more of truth telling.

This question is not even for a Nigerian, the name Nigeria is a lie, foundation of the country built on lies, political leaders are liars even day old babies lie to suck bosom milk twice in a role, did I hear u say how? A mother feeds a day old baby 2 mins later the baby cries for more bosom milk, arguing he/she ain't had none in a while. Ask the Danish, the Japs, the Aussies, the Canadians then you will get a credible answer.

yes, if and only if no other innocent person's life or my own life is at stake.

Having said that, I wouldn't lie to save kidnappers life at the detriment of their hostage

Lies are meant for comfort. I still believe that.

It becomes a sin when it is told to destroy one's image or reputation.

What about in a case of blood transfusion where you are asked if the blood in question had been screened or not? I mean the only available blood.

Well I'm just looking for a technical choice that could make your lie hunt you for the rest of your life

I won't deny that i show disgust, but not to christians themselves, but to christianity itself as a religion and what it does to the minds of it's adherents. To christians themselves, i show pity, not hatred. The problem here is that christians have adopted this parasitical religion as their own identity, so when you show disgust to their identity(their religious faith), they take it that you hate them as well. This is far from the truth.

To save mine? - No (I may end up in hell)

To save another? - Yes (Its a sacrifice - its less crime than the first) i may just short-cut to heaven (my life were in good state earlier and this action were of good intent.

That's how I see it.

Save a life and ask God for forgiveness afterwards.

I think that to my knowledge is better than loosing a life when just saying something can make a difference.

I decided to ask the question after I saw the movie 'Pelham123'.

The guy lied publicly (that he commited a crime of taking a bribe) to save a boy's life. maybe he did take the bribe

Some appreicated the fact that he saved a life at his own expense while some wanted to crucify him for taking a bribe.

0
Avatar

It depends, if that lie will take another life elsewhere in will not, but if no other life is endangered with my lie i will quickly do it without hesitation as Jenwitemi rightly said.
