You guys are funny . Inter marked Messi out,

Did you watch Benitez mark Ronaldinho out vs Liverpool in 2007, Did you see Arsenal render Dinho toothless in the 2006 final?

Someone even mentioned CR7 the same player that was rendered useless by Arne Friedrich at the last Euro cup.

On that day Nani was more effective that C ororo.

You are using a wrong premise here, compare apples with apples.

If you used a Benzema maybe that would have had more appeal. We all know age is not Ronaldinho's friend at the moment. He sure has seen his best days, which is not the case for messi and CR7. i know a CR7 would have performed better last nite against inter. Marking out a messi (like chelsea proved over two legs last season and Inter last nite) is much easier than marking a CR7 out.

just like Arsenal put a lid on him in the first leg. . . we all know what happened at Camp Nou.

LOL!

I trust Maureen and his boiz to put a lid on him

good one

Dinho in his prime woulda been too much for those Inter guys

Dinho is a magician, Messi is a good footballer

In Milan nowadays Dinho plays mostly behind one striker.

Messis goal return is enough to show how productive he is. Dinho prefers to dribble or entertain. I am sure Dinho would rather turn back vs an empty net than to score a tap in, For Messi, "All join" Hard goal, easy goal all na same

I repeat the Heartbeat of that Barca team is 'Xavi'

Do you watch games or you just judge positions by jersey number. Do you know what a play maker is? If Dinho was a playmaker then what was Xavi and Deco? Play destroyer?

Dinho played as a wide forward on the left and Messi right now plays as a wide forward on the right. With henry haking Dinhos position, Zlatan taking Etoos.

Its still the same pattern just a slight difference in personel.

Messi has 40goals already or what else is productivity? Messi would rather score 7 goals per game while Dinho after 1-2 goals would start to entertain.

When Dinho was in Barca in 2003 They won nothing till Etoo got there. Dinho was just more eye catching and pleasing to watch

How is the argentine more productive I ask, both played different roles at barca. Ronnaldinho was assigned the responsibility of play-making

and he was outstanding at that (03-06), so outstanding he won the WPOTY TWICE (no be moin moin) . messi on the other hand is a wing forward

and will always score more goals than dinho.in terms of influence, Dinho was far more influential for barca than messi is now. No Xavi and Iniesta= no

barca as far as I'm concerned.

Ronaldinho was more skillful than Messi, But the Argentine is more productive

The choice is yours

Of course i think it is premature all the "he is better than maradona et al" chants that has inundated the media about Messi of late but ol boy, that dude is GOOD.Plus,he's being preet consistent, going about his job with level-headedness and staying out of negative media vibes.

Ronaldihno destroyed himself and i think apart from the flashes(like he did against Man U @ the San Siro) he will display occassionally to remind us all of what he was,he will never be that consistent again.

@Kay

Messi is the best footballer now doesnt mean hes done more than what Dinho did

both are at par but i think if Dinho can be cleansed of the demons worrying him, then Messi will be an learning from him

Both are not the greatest footballers sha

better footballers don play tey tey

and as for CR7, he is doing very well at Real.

lemme help, Messi has done more than what Dinho did?

is that it?

joke. . . i dont think ive seen a footballer that can do magic on the field like Dinho

Dinho is suffering from attitudinal probs which is a constant with brasilians

if he keeps his head like Messi, he'll probably be the greatest footballer that lived cos what he did in 2 seasons with Barca, only a sorcerer can do that

Did Maldini, Raul, Totti etc repicate their performance in another club?

0

The same CR7 went to the last Euro cup at his peak and didnt make the top 23 while 3 Portuguese made it

0

Until MESSI replicates this his performance in another club outside Barca, it will be difficult to state if he is as magical as it appears. The Barca style and collection of players could just be what differentiates Messi from CR7 for now. Messi has not been able to carry the argentine team as expected, hence some question mark on his performance.

CR7 on the other hand, did it in MAN U and is doing well presently for REAL. He is also a bigger influence on the portuguese team than what Messi is for the argentine team. For now I am still kool with CR7.

I think all these props is just being blown out of proportion. I'm a big Messi fan but truth be told, there is nothing he is doing that has never been done. All these comparisons with Pele, Maradona and calling him the greatest ever is undeserved. I have seen a lot of players at their prime and all these havent been said; Ronaldinho, Raul, Shevchenko, Thiery Henry, C.Ronaldo and lots more. When his form dips in a couple of seasons from now, the football world will forget they once called him the greatest ever and throw him out like they never knew him.

Messi is breaking scoring records. He has never been a classy all round player. No one can argue if Messi isn't one of the greatest finisher but he hasn't been artistic outside Barca.

Even last year Ronaldinho has been magical with Miniero. Leading them to the Copa Libertadores title.

I can't forget Ronaldinho's performance in the two games against AC Milan. He made one of the fiercest defensive midfielders Gattuso look ordinary and got Gattuso subbed in both games.

Dinho clearly beats Messi. He created magical moments when he graced the pitch.

HAHAHAHA....so we are judging player by video game moves , U are one of a kind sir. In games by animation you can crate any moves which isnt even possible (like any fantasy soccer game) and cant create messi 's move. Salute to you.

maybe its other way around , FIFA and Pes guys dose not interested to create messi's moves cause he never did one. Messi hardly dose skills he is a dribble kind a guy , and games are more tactical now a days not one man show , thats why skills like rabona fake are very hard to see. Try to watch real football .... Kids these days ......

My problem wt pple is that they don't watch barca matches yet they will rush to comment. comparing messi wt different names said it all.MESSICO86

Messi just broke a 40years old record 2day...thats more reason he is the best player..

I support that guy dat said he is more efficient.

Btw,has any game(PES,Fifa, wining 11) been able to copy Messi skills? They have copied all dhino nd cristi skills,bt not Messi.....dat is 2 say Messi is more creative

Ronaldinho's best years at Barca were in 2004-2005... Messi didn't break into the first team as yet.

For me...

Skills: Ronaldinho (Only Okocha comes close)

Passes: Messi (these days, I wonder if he is better than Xavi and pirlo)

Teamwork: Messi (Dinho was a one-man player most of the time)

Goals: Messi (undisputed)

Assists: Messi (for those saying Messi is a striker that's why he scores more goals, how come he assists better than most midfielders and more than Dinho had even when Dinho had Eto'o, one of the best finishers of the game?)

Consistency: Messi (Ronaldinho didnt last)

Spotkicks: Ronaldinho (messi doesnt come close)

Fear factor: Messi (yes, more defenders mark messi in every game than dinho was)

Versatility: Ronaldinho (good with both feet)

Ronaldinho was a much more entertaining player...

Messi is more efficient.

The best player is the the most efficient... Else Okocha ought to have been world best at least once.

my dear friends.....why the bruhaha over here, why the argument. Even dhino has said it,Messi is the best player the world has produced. He also said that he is happy that he gave the pass to Messi in which Messi scored his 1st professional goal.

Come on,Even Blatter nd Platini(d 2 superiors of football) call him the world best,so i wonder why toothless dogs(pls its nt an insult) like you guys say dhino is better....lwkmd

Exactly. I bet all of those who are saying that Messi is better, never evem watched a game with Ronaldinho. How dumb it is to say that Messi scores more than Ronaldinho? Get a brain transplant or clean the poo out of your head. Messi is a striker and Ronaldinho is a midfielder. Obviously Messi is gonna score more. Dumb fucks!

I could'nt help posting a Comment even though this thread is old;

Ronaldinho VS Messi

I Critically observed both of them (the analysis was very easy since both of them played in the same team around 2008)& I Realized Ronaldinho, was one sick magician. No doubt Messi is awesome, but Ronaldinho mheeeeen... he made of football, what Shakespare made of poetry.

For crying out loud how would you guys compare Messi to a tactical Play maker who was one of the best in the trade?

Messi wey never even finish competition with CR7...

In Ronaldinho's era with the other sick playmakers that were there eg Totti, Riquelme, Recoba, Kaka etc he still clearly stood out undisputably.

Messi scores goals, but Ronaldinho scored goals that took breaths away(special goals-ask David Seaman & Oliver Khan).

Messi dribbles plainly, basically to evade defenders, but Ronaldinho's dribbles are tactical and strategic(like he has a dribble radar) every move has a motive basically to setup himself for another move or tee up another player(he dribbled with Rhythm).

Messi delivers to the crowd, but Dinho entertained the crowd while delivering.

A Ronaldinho set peice is more dangerous than a Messi set peice till tommorow.

Ronaldinho is freak'n both footed, Messi uses only his Left.

Ronaldinho is one of the most creative footballers that ever existed(he pulls out ideas in sticky situations), Messi is not that creative- his approach to offence is rather direct.

One of Ronaldinho's main assets is his technical ability to understand team formations and setup other players, but Messi is not that kind of Player.

Of course we all know Ronaldinho is a great Passer of the Ball- he makes an 80yard pass look so easy, I dont see Messi do that, Messi'd rather stick to his amazing dribble runs.

Please because irresponsibility killed Ronaldinho, doesnt mean you shouldnt give him his credit, when he was in form, he oozed out Magic in every move- it was truly a joy to watch him play.

in the era of ronaldinho, how many of us here were 'man u fans', 'arsenal fans', 'madrid fans'? then we were all united and loved good players. i bet that if ronaldinho were still a barca player today , all of you would not say anything good of him. why? simply because ure madrid fans, or arsenal fans or man u fans. messi is better than ronaldinho was. messi scores much much much more goals than ronaldinho did. in terms of mid field play, messi is equally as gifted as ronaldinho. he even has more assists than ronaldinho had. ronaldinho won the world cup because he had carlos, cafu, lucio, gilberto, rivaldo, kaka, ronaldo, juninho, denilson, edmilson, roque junior. so to say 'ronaldinho won the world cup' is a very dumb statement. some one says remove xavi and iniesta bla bla bla. messi shone in 2005 junior world cup when he took the world by storm. messi has the highest assists in barca for several seasons now. messi has scored hattricks and braces without xavi and iniesta playing. so how dumb can we get making such statements? alot of soccer pundits have called messi the greatest they have seen play the game. a lot. alot have compared him to maradona and pele. lets not play down his greatness simply because we are madrid or man u or arsenal fans.

Apart from Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid, Lionel Messi has got no Competition in world football today, During Ronaldinho's era, too many players were at their peak and playing at an exciting and equal level, thus it was very difficult to evaluate just ronnie without critically looking at other players of that era.

Ronaldinho alll the way... he was way toooo talented..

Ronaldinho won the world cup at 22 years old. He won every title, worls cup, balon d or, footballer of the year, champions leauge, spanish league, copa del rey, european super cup, everything. He is a mid fielder, not a striker like messi. He scored goals and creates goals. Why do u think eto'o was so deadly? Because of Ronaldinho's passes. Have u seen frank lampard or steven gerrard or Xavi or iniesta scoring 40 goals in one season? NO! They are midfielders. They provide passes. Ronaldinho was a midfielder, but a special one, he scores and he makes others score. Messi is a fantastic player. I will bot deny that. He is a deadly striker who can score from any angle. Take Xavi and Iniesta out of the midfield and see how many goals Messi will score a season. By the way, Ronaldinho is the one who brought Messi on the scene. The first goal Messi scored was from a Ronaldinho pass. Ronaldinho is the foundation of the glory that Barcelona has now.

Well put!

Ronaldinho was the heart of the team, Messi is the star of the team.

Ronaldinho might be lazy but you know when you give him the ball he can dribble ANY player easily when he chooses to and create chances. Messi can sometimes but at a lower degree, more of a positional-brain player.

Ronaldinho can score spectacular goals from anywhere, Messi just scores and does it well.

Ronaldinho was an entertainer of the crowd and only got a professional mindset when he got older and into Barca, Messi is just a ruthless professional right from a young age, if he entertains you, that is just a bonus, he wants to win for the team.

Messi CANNOT play without XAVI and INIESTA or the several good ballers in his team! Inter Vs Barca saw Xavi well neutralized and except for the bad defending by Inter, Barca won't have scored any goal! What did Messi do all night? Took a shot or a couple of them but with Xavi held down, no Iniesta, Messi had an ordinary night!

Ronaldinho is not a perfect man so he has is flaws, some say he wasn't consistent. Okay, but Dinho can play all by himself. . .he doesn't need someone to pass him the ball in a good position! He can create his own position. . .get past any player with several step-overs, flip-flaps and crazy moves and you cannot say he is slow moving the ball! Messi. . . from reports hates being in the 18-yard box when a corner is being taken or a ball is being lobbed in because he is short at 5' 7". . .he has no chance against me who is just about 5' 10". . .but can you see how tall a lot of defenders are? 6' 0"+! However, Messi has incredibly fast legs. . .his short stature gives him very good balance which makes him more dangerous because he can move the ball very fast and it is not very easy to knock him down as a result of his lower center of gravity.

All said. . .Dinho is much more of a complete player than Messi. . .and an asset for setting up several dangerous balls for his team mates because he can draw defenders to himself, make one or two dribbles and NOT lose the ball and make a visionary pass!
