They surely do deserve to win it because they played exceptionally well against all teams except for their first match.

Spain is boring!

They pass the ball so much instead of moving forward.

I personally think the Netherlands should have won it.

Btw, I personally think that goal was offside.

Technically they were the best, tactically they were the most disciplined, they proved the strongest in every department of the game, their style was exciting, they didn't score much goals though, but they got results when it really mattered most, and in fare play, they scored the highest point in the tournament from Fifa, they've got exeptional talents in their team, what more can u ask for. Beyound all doubt they desrve their win.

@ice, itz hard for you to score against a team that retains the ball so much and has their two full backs firmly rooted at the back! it would take something extraodinaire to beat them. Fine, i know they dont score much but. . . they would rather continue to hold posession like they have always done and find that one minute of brilliance to break you. most of their goals usually come in second half after the have tired the opposition with endless passing. . . It would take a whole level of mad fitness to keep running round the field for 90 mins without tiring out and caving in. . . if u get my drift

Any team that has completed 3000 passes before the finals of the world cup and also has d support of Paul the octopus definitely deserves to win. . .

if nly robben scored dat. a purposeful team with direct game will out play them. u saw united and inter do it to barca. i feel posession football is robish i believe in direct play but not the type of inter milan (though am an inter milan fan) inter plays too defensive.

I believe they were the best team in the tournament. They didn't crumble under the weight of expectation unlike England. Although they were nervy against Paraguay but overall their self belief and quality carried them through.

The Spanish are the better side so far in this competition. They play good football and not just kicking football. They have highest number of passings, good football control, better football technics, accuracy and many other things such as having possession. They dominated all the possession in all their games. No wonder they clinch the most DISCIPLINE SIDE OF ALL

The fact is that they are no sharp in front of goal otherwise, they will score close to 20 goals in all.

Let ur judge with our conscience yes they won but they don't deserve it at all. They didn't play like champions. No charisma in the team.

Spain possesses more talents than any other team that came to south africa for the world cup. It would have been a big shame if Spain didn't win the world cup. How can a team built around barcelona and real madrid fail to deliver. Spanish fans wouldn't have forgiven the Spanish team if they had return home with anything less than the world cup. SPAIN DESERVES TO WIN THE WORLD CUP LOOKING AT IT FROM ALL PERSPECTIVES

"There's nothing about 'deserving' to win; they EARNED it"

Period.

Its not just about refereeing, the Jabulani ball, diving etc. Its all part of the game. Spain has played the most entertaining football amongst all other teams and they earned the cup.

Spain was arguably expected to pick up the Rimet trophy right before the kick off, alongside Brazil, Argentina and England. Those were called the book makers favourites. Germany wasn't even in the mix because captain Ballack was out and the team has a lot of young untesetd talents.

Spain started on the wrong note by losing to an unfancied team from the other end of the earth!

Spain henceforth sarted grinding out wins, albeit without their massive attacking interplay usually championed by the Barca maestros; Xavi/Iniesta. All these combined to make people think that the Iberians might not make it afterall to the finals.

Enter the semi finals fixture of Spain vs Germany. The nay sayers heralded the sinking of the Armada given the massively impressive run of the young german machines. The Spaniards, encouraged by their 2008 Euro finals win against the same opponent, took up the gauntlet and fought for their lives, and for the very first time in the tournament, the German machines could not start, just a moment from an on-fire Villa was all it took to reassure the unbelievers that the Armada is still well afloat and indeed cruising to the finals.

Once in the finals, everybody knew that if there is anywhere the Oranje gang knows to capitulate, its in the very final of world tournaments, as they have previously done in two occassions!

Spain took them on and attacked them with tenacity, inspite of their rough dealings, and Howard Webb's refusal to send some of them back into the dug out early on, finally subdued them with a perfect combination of Barcelona/Arsenal brand of tip tap epitomised in Iniesta/Fabregas. The rest they say, is history.

[Yes they deserve it and they are the WORLD CHAMPIONS! VIVA LA FURIA ROJA

I honestly don't think so, imo. I rooted for the Orange though - Netherlands.

But all the same, Congrats to Spain. . . Viva Espana!

Well deserved for Spain. Its been a long time coming. They've always produced very good teams but have always been unlucky. I'm happy they are now getting the respect they deserve

Well, they got the job of "scoring while preventing your opponent fron scoring" done so may be they deserve the world cup.

However, I am still more likely to pay from my pocket to watch a friendly involving, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Holland, but not spain.

Well right from the onset spain, argentina, brazil and england are tipped for lifting the world cup but stories changed when spain were defeated by switzerland a team that is lowest in FIFA rankings, but they gradually picked up the pace and won won every other game,in actual sense that shows that they reacted positively to the challenge and came out victorious at the end of the day, so they really deserved the world cup.viva espaniola!!!!!

I would rather talk about the organizing country, SOUTHAFRICA, the organization from the beginning of the tournament to the end was unprecedented. I'm extremely proud of them, the world cup experience was indeed 'A ONCE IN A LIFETIME'. I'm really happy that there wasn't any news of violence and crime as widely believed by the foreign media before the tournament.

DIVA AFRICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

No they didnot deserves it cos the played 45 games and lost only one game against USA in CONF cup.

They didnot deserves it cos they won Euro 2008.

They didnot deserves it cos they have the best midfielder in the world:General Xavi and the golden boi Inesta.

The spainish side had a philosophy and they have always sticked to their style of play.keep the ball and attack always.

Spain could not score plenty goals cos their opponents are always been conservative by siting  in their own half, defend their lives out and look for counters to hit them.its was not a fluke that they were tip as one of the favorite team to win the world cup and they have justified that.

they have defeated their opponent and made them look silly(Germany and portugal).they rule the world now and we can only keep our cool and watch them in Brazil 2014.

Spain were obviously the better side at the final match.

But were they the best team of the tournament? The Germans played better football, more convincing and I'm sure this thread(debate) would not have come up in the first place if they won. Everybody will admit, almost unanimously, they deserve it.

But that's football, Spain's brillance at the time they needed it most(against Germany) won this WC for them.
