Interesting facts about the Olympic Games

Do you know why people even created Olympic Games? At first it was all for religious purposes – the ancient Greeks believed in their own gods.

This particular sport event was created to celebrate Zeus, the most important God in their mythology. Few centuries ago it was banned by the government.

However, in the 19th century the French thought that the idea of the huge sport event wasn’t that bad. And that’s how the modern Olympics started.

1896 was the year when Greece became the country that won most of the medals in Olympic Games.

The first modern Games that were held in winter took place in France in 1924.

Winter Olympic Games has brought more than 250 medals to Norway.

However, the United States hit all the records – more than 2 thousand medals were brought home during the Summer Olympics!
